@ZedMan1996 That quote was from a hypothetical conversation with someone with a "stanced" car. The lack of functionality (and indeed reduction thereof) makes it pointless and tasteless in my eyes.
Yes, I too dislike stance.
Performance has absolutely zero to do with taste.
And I don't understand how the way you set up your car to perform involves no naste, yet drifting, grip, time-attack, rally, gymkhana, rallycross, endurance, sprints, drag, monster truck, mudder, rock crawler, baja and offroader are all the different tastes of performance setups.
Performance isn't just hidden under the bonnet, it's also what visually expresses a car, especially when it comes to different uses of aerodynamics, tyres, brakes, exhausts & suspension, which is too a performance upgrade, same goes for blower attachments for superchargers and so on and so fourth.
I'm pretty sure the point I'm making is now pretty obvious.
But modifications that enable performance do. I'm the type that believes in only that sort of modification (though I prefer them having been done to street cars, or done to make a street car into a track car) and anything else is bordering on useless. I should also note that I prefer when exterior modifications fit the vehicle they're performed on (like the California-look Beetle I posted recently) and are not in stark contrast (the horrendous wing and front-end effects on that C10 Skyline posted recently).
I agree and disagree with you, have you not seen the engine and suspension/brakes setup pics on that C10? It's a proper performance track car, weather you think it's attractive or not is just an opinion. But nonetheless this car has great taste, even if you dislike it, because it's all so purpose built, purely for the track, no compromise for the road, and that is what makes it special, also because it's original.
