Which has literally nothing to do with if it's tasteful or not.

I care more how a car performs than its looks, so in my eyes, it's taste in performance is staggering.

In 1996, renowned tuning company and rotary specialist, RE Amemiya produced an one off alternative Autozam AZ-1 for the Tokyo Auto Salon, called the GReddy VI-AZ1 (named after its long-term partner, the sixth incarnation of their partnership project car), it was influenced by the Autozam AZ-550 Type-C but longer and wider, incorporating a 20B three rotor Wankel engine, mounted longitudinally. The only part of the car that has traces of the original AZ-1 is the gullwing door. The car uses suspension parts produced by Bilstein that can be found in a Porsche 962 and the brakes from a Ferrari F40.

The car was rebuilt again in 2000 with the car now resprayed to white, also a wing replacing the ducktail spoiler of the original, also replaced was the tire with a slightly wider version, brakes are replaced by those from a Ferrari F50. The car have since then been sold on to a private owner in Japan.

EDIT:

Oh crap double post! O_O NOOO!

+1 bafrickinzillion. "Oh, you can't go over speedbumps without needing your bumpers resprayed and your 22s straightened? Awesome..."

And any truck whose suspension is raised, yet doesn't look like it's ever seen a spec of dirt, I call "compensators". Take that as you will.

They're just fake rednecks. They think they're cool. My friend's brother wants a short bed Cummings that blows smoke and he's one of the nerdiest kids out there who doesn't even need a truck for anything. He's also one of those frat bro Jeep lovers. I like a truck that is used properly. If you have a job or company that requires a truck, sure, fair game, but if you have trucks just to do stupid **** like mud boggin'... yeah, you don't deserve it.

This song can change a life :lol:

I only talk about cars built for racing when it comes to modifying, and no, the most I'd go for are 17's & rarely 18's, I like my tyre walls you know.

Do I care about the streets in a car built for racing? Not in the slightest, apart from the mandatory things such as plates, cat's, indicators and so on (if I also want it to be road legal). Also a carbon fibre flat floor and splitter scrape frequently on race tracks & hillclimbs anyway, and are almost never painted.

@ZedMan1996 That quote was from a hypothetical conversation with someone with a "stanced" car. The lack of functionality (and indeed reduction thereof) makes it pointless and tasteless in my eyes.

Performance has absolutely zero to do with taste.
But modifications that enable performance do. I'm the type that believes in only that sort of modification (though I prefer them having been done to street cars, or done to make a street car into a track car) and anything else is bordering on useless. I should also note that I prefer when exterior modifications fit the vehicle they're performed on (like the California-look Beetle I posted recently) and are not in stark contrast (the horrendous wing and front-end effects on that C10 Skyline posted recently).

Yes, I too dislike stance.

Performance has absolutely zero to do with taste.

And I don't understand how the way you set up your car to perform involves no naste, yet drifting, grip, time-attack, rally, gymkhana, rallycross, endurance, sprints, drag, monster truck, mudder, rock crawler, baja and offroader are all the different tastes of performance setups.

Performance isn't just hidden under the bonnet, it's also what visually expresses a car, especially when it comes to different uses of aerodynamics, tyres, brakes, exhausts & suspension, which is too a performance upgrade, same goes for blower attachments for superchargers and so on and so fourth.

I'm pretty sure the point I'm making is now pretty obvious.

I agree and disagree with you, have you not seen the engine and suspension/brakes setup pics on that C10? It's a proper performance track car, weather you think it's attractive or not is just an opinion. But nonetheless this car has great taste, even if you dislike it, because it's all so purpose built, purely for the track, no compromise for the road, and that is what makes it special, also because it's original.

That trope is so tired and unoriginal.

I don't see what's wrong with that. I think it's fun to sit up high, plus it's nice to not be made everyone's bitch on the road. **** me, right? If he can afford it, then I don't see what the problem is if it makes him happy. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
