Can you guys even fathom Trump supporters protesting outside the Arizona ballot counting building, thinking that the workers in there are literally writing fake ballots and just adding them up one by one. And thinking this is clearly happening in PA and GA too which is why they keep stealing the lead precipitously. And you're just sitting at home in your red onesie panicking as the numbers get smaller and smaller, and you just know! they're marking fake ballots and stealing the country from you one by one.

I saw one on Twitter where someone claimed that they definitely saw someone working at a counting facility take a bunch of Trump ballots home one night in her purse and brought them back the next day and they said Biden.

There are still 500,000 ballots to count in PA per their SecState. Trump's lead there is just over 100,000.

The question is, with a popular vote, would it turn out more Republican voters in places like California & New York who don't feel there's any point in voting now? It's a pretty complicated equation to figure out how a popular vote might shift the numbers.

Bottom line, it's alarming how many Americans seem to identify enthusiastically with a wanna-be authoritarian like Trump. Unlike you, however, I believe economic inequality is at the heart of the problem. Since Reagan ever decreasing marginal tax rates have led to the rich getting richer & the poor & middle classes (at best) stagnating. However philosophically "fair" you think this is, quite clearly a lot of Americans are very discontented.

I may be totally wrong but I think going to a popular vote would make both parties run more moderate candidates. Because once you remove the state lines, that turns it from swing states to swing neighborhoods, swing cities, swing households, churches, etc. That Democratic voter in Alabama or the Republican voter in New York that the other side never had to worry about, now you do because they're adding to a national total instead of just for that state. So if a Trump or similar is so extreme they're chasing off more moderate Republicans into voting for Democrats, running a more moderate candidate could keep those Republicans in house and even pull across the slightly conservative Democrats. And vice versa for the Democratic candidate.

@Danoff The "size of lead" map is pretty interesting. The counties where Trump has the highest leads - some very high leads - are all counties bordering the Atlanta Metro, especially to the north. I realize that's Appalachian country but the proximity to ATL suggests their mindset is some sort of counter to Atlanta. They're mostly country suburbs and small farms. All those southern GA counties with only slight Trump leads are actually considerably more rural than the red counties north of Atlanta. Here's the map of Cherokee County where it's mostly "country suburbs" and upper-middle suburbs with some wealthy areas.

Or as I call it, "Squidbillies Territory". Each summer I travel across a little to the north of there through Summerville, Dawsonville, Elijay, etc. and it's like you've dropped back 150 years or more in time. Like @ryzno said almost every other "house" or double wide is flying some sort of Trump flag and or the confederate flag. And north east Alabama is no better through Pisgah, Henegar, Mentone, etc.

Trump asked his own supporters to try to vote twice. It was at a rally, it's on tape, and still, he got away with it. In a healthy democraty, this should have stopped almost everyone to even consider his name on a ballot. And have sent him in jail.
