Nope. It's all in this thread. Maybe if your reading comprehension were better, you wouldn't be a lib.
That's particularly amusing to me, a person who had been a registered Republican for my entire voting age. Maybe if your comprehension of anything that the President's Twitter page didn't drip feed you was a bit better, you would have realized that not fellating the Trump Administration at every opportunity doesn't make you a "liberal" (whatever that means). It's certainly been spelled out to you enough times by now.

Alas.

Someone on Reddit may have said it best.

They like Trump not because of his policies or promises. They like Trump regardless b/c Trump dislikes the same people they dislike, and that's it.
I would have agreed with this a while back. I even said it repeatedly because I believed it. The events of the last four years have demonstrated it, to my mind, to be false. The GOP, along with its base, is Trump.

I think you're correct to an extent. The Trump voters that I'm closest to either exhibit a lot of the same characteristics of Trump or have long been conditioned to accept and prefer those characteristics in others.

There is a tie-in with religion here, as the God of Christian mythology (Yahweh) exhibits a lot of these same personality flaws, and employs a lot of the same manipulative strategies. There is a nexus between worshiping an abusive tyrant on Sunday and worshiping a different abusive tyrant the other 6 days of the week.

That's fair. It then makes me wonder how much he actually is what he wants them to think he is. We know he's not the Christian that they think he is and that he panders to that segment of his base.

We know that. Do they know that? He teargassed protestors and church members for a photo shoot to hold a Bible he found somewhere, and by all measures doing so seemed to have worked for the people he did it for.
Fixed.

Of course that's just gravy to the average Trumpkin because the members of the church who were dispersed were providing care to those protesting; they were aiding and abetting.

Which I understand, it's the whole "the enemy of my enemy is my friend," thought process (I think). It is more that I'm surprised as many people still go up to bat for him despite things like his comments on the military, his comments on health care (including his clear lack-of-plan to protect people with pre-existing conditions), and both his playing-down of COVID and the fact that he caught COVID. Those are things that I'd imagine actually effect his voter base more than whatever the "enemy" is doing.
As far as the military being losers and suckers is concerned, to his die hard followers this is just unsourced fake speculation cooked up by the MSM while Biden calling them stupid bastards on camera is documented proof he's worse. Even though it was a non serious remark in the middle of a speech full of praise for the military.

I think that's a good point. When I am driving around the US I will sometimes tune in to the local "Christian" radio stations. The commentary & opinions expressed at times are enough to curl my hair. Their version of Christianity bears absolutely no relationship to the post-John XXXIII Catholicism I grew up with in England in the 1960's & 70's. John XXXIII's simple declaration:

"We were all made in God's image, and thus, we are all Godly alike."

contrasts sharply with the Old Testament sectarianism promoted by many American evangelical churches. I remember listening to a long, "learned" disquisition on the radio by a southern preacher, citing scripture to explain how Christians had no obligation to help the poor or immigrants, because they were not considered part of the "body of the church".

I have such a hard time understanding some Christians. They cling so hard to the OG of hellfire and brimstone and ignore Jesus's teachings. Jesus was the opposite of the OG. Christians are supposed to be followers of Jesus, but instead want everyone to be miserable, like the OG. Growing up in the Bible Belt was an experience.

Um, do you mean the OT? "OG" makes me keep imagining the Almighty with a rammed on backwards baseball cap, gold teeth and a large blingy "$" necklace.

I guess "THOU SHALT HAVE NO OTHER GODS BEFORE ME" is literally "original gangster" though.

Both really. I think OG fits the abuses levied in the OT.

I was thinking "old God". Maybe too much game of thrones for me.

Maybe one day I'll watch an episode of that show to find out what the fuss is about.

I guess this'd make Jesus the new God. Except that he explicitly avowed all the old scripture was still valid in Matthew 5:17. Meet the new boss...

People take what they want from religious teachings. What's weird is that they often refuse to acknowledge that others take what they want from religious teachings and you get inane arguments to the effect of "this religion is more dangerous than that religion" when religion itself has no capacity to do harm, rather people do.

I need to finish Game of Thrones. I have watched the first four seasons and part of the fifth. Life caught up with me, while no longer having a HBO subscription, and I just have never finished the series.

That is what I have mostly learned since I was younger. It just speaks to a sad existence that the negative hellfire and brimstone is the lesson they learned. Fortunately, I had a mother that taught me above all else, [loosely paraphrased] "Don't be a dick" and that lesson mostly sunk in.

My parents weren't religious at all and certainly didn't force religion on me. I think they thought themselves worldly and informed me of various beliefs to give me the opportunity to choose, but curiously non-belief wasn't among the choices. Still, I didn't actually have to pick anything and I didn't.

My mom's parents were more conservative and a little more religious, but they too didn't force any belief system on me when they became my guardians after my parents were taken by a drunk driver. I was a teenager, though, and things may have been different had I been younger.

This is a little OT (Off-Topic, that is), but I think there's some relevance as my lack of belief enforces my position that freedom of religion also means freedom from religion, as well as my disinterest in some dick forcing a set of beliefs on me, particularly when he clearly doesn't hold them himself and instead plays believer to people too stupid to see it.

I'll just leave this here and wait for the dismissal the last time it was brought up.
The laptop store guy has changed his story. The guy decided to release the hard drive not only to the FBI, but Giuliani's lawyer for some "unknown" reason. The metadata of the emails in the NYPost showed they were created 4 months after the laptop was dropped off. Hunter Biden was in LA, why would he travel to Delaware to drop off a laptop. The prosecutor Shokin investigated Burisma long before Hunter was involved, which disproves the old claim that Joe was trying to get rid of him to protect Hunter. Joe wanted Shokin removed b/c he failed to investigate corruption within the country, which would work against Hunter's interests for foul play.

There's a reason all this info is slowly being "leaked" and only Fox & the hardcore right wing media wants to make a story about it.

What's interesting is that as soon as Facebook & Twitter blocked it because there wasn't enough information to prove such claims (not b/c they hate conservatives; Facebook gave into Breitbart lobbying to have strikes removed from its page for misinformation), all the right wing outlets spent more time attacking Twitter & Facebook over it, wanting their CEOs brought into court over censorship than the actual "story".

Seriously, just pretend that it was randomly cancelled and make up some headcanon for yourself as to how it ends. You'll enjoy it more.

They want the First Amendment rights of others actually infringed upon, by government, because they perceive infringement upon their First Amendment rights, which didn't actually take place, because Twitter and Facebook aren't government.

Also pathetic is that your "dismissal" (a response that falls short of absolute agreement) means you're viewed as complicit in the supposed wrongdoing of Twitter and Facebook. That's what the whole thing has devolved to.

I'm still waiting for any Trump supporter to explain how they can defend a President who denies that 5A protections exist. This isn't just him breaking the law, or a matter of opinion, but a President straight up saying that 5A doesn't exist and his government can kill you if it wants.

As for the Biden story, have I got this timeline right? Hunter Biden flies across the entire USA from LA to Delaware specifically to get his three MacBooks repaired at this one shop (for some reason) and forgets about them for three months - during which time the store's video recording system has wiped the video of Biden coming in.

Then the (blind) repair shop owner reads the contents of the hard drives (somehow, and for some reason) and, disturbed by the emails created four months after Biden dropped the MacBooks off, gives them to the FBI.

At around this time, the National Security Adviser Robert O'Brien warns Donald Trump that Rudy Giuliani has been groomed by Russian intelligence operatives on a trip to Ukraine and is likely to be unwittingly part of a misinformation campaign.

Then the blind computer repair shop owner, upset with the impeachment proceedings in January, decides to give the clones of the hard drives he made (for some reason) to Rudy Giuliani (somehow), who then took another nine months to tell the New York Post about these emails.

Is that all correct?

From what I'm gathering I'd say yes.

Another off-topic post, but this is probably a misunderstanding of the Christian God being a triune God. The "Old God" of the Old Testament and the "New God" of Jesus in the New Testament are the same God, but different persons thereof.

He's blind?! How did I not know that? I know he called Trump's impeachment a sham and that he referenced Seth Rich conspiracy theories, but I had no idea he's blind.

There are none so blind as those who can not....well, never mind.

That's what "meet the new boss, same as the old boss" means.
