the "just plain ugly" car thread

Here's a living example for a comparison (though it came from 1984):

What is it though?

That's a Dodge Caravan.

With the exception of Ford's E series. But now it sucks because they took and redesigned the F series and the E went with it. Stupid nasty grill.

the E's follow the F's design parameters. the "ugly grill" is, and has been for a few years, Ford's utility vehicle design signature, like the cars' "window blind slats" grille.

you forget that the only true survivor of the minivan wars is the Honda Oddesy.

WHERE did someone find a pic of a factory-new Caravan? never seen one in mint shape. (i didn't see to many vehicles in the eighties)

Its the only van they have anymore... I don't see any Aerostar's running around. Therefore the E series is Fords minivan.

No, they just don't have minivans. Ever been in an E-series? Ever been in a real minivan?

Sit in an E-series, then sit in a Renault Scenic. You'll notice which one is the van and which one is the minivan. The E is a workhorse - it's meant to haul equipment, even human equipment, with a focus on payload and not passenger-comfort. A minivan is supposed to work as a family-car with lots of space.. Ford has that Flex thingy and the Crossovers instead of minivans now.

It didn't compete with the original Caravan. It competed with the redesigned one.

And I just realized that now. Its successor wasn't that pretty either, though.

If I recall, the Silhouette was also the Lumina APV, and some sort of Pontiac van, not unlike today's badge-engineered (?) designs from GM.

Ford gave up on minivans when the Failstar didn't sell as well as a half-assed redesign with a new name should (according to them). The E series is a truck and always has been...

Ya it was called the Pontiac Trans Sport, or something stupid like that, trying to pretend like it's some sort of sporty Trans Am minivan. :ill:

I have witnessed with mine own eyes a turquiose Pontiac trans Sport parked by the gate in front of Sacré Couer in Paris.

Quelqu'un était très stupide pour apporter une Trans Sport à France.

Ah, but that is your opinion. Don't you just love this thread :D

I don't care what anyone's tastes are...that car isn't "just plain ugly". Of course a lot of people wont like the look, but that's different than saying it looks like crap.

That's not for you to decide though. I don't agree and sometimes strongly disagree with some of the cars posted in this thread, but that is someones opinion and I can't change that.

In my opinion it looks like crap, so it is perfectly justified being in this thread.
