Bear in mind that "review" was done on Prologue... which is over a year old. We know almost everything in the game was given an overhaul in that time, it's quite possible the steering ratios did as well.

GT4 doesnt have any options to change FF settings of the wheel (well i cant find any). but in the DFP manual, it says u can switch to two settings by pressing 'R3(or was it L3?) + SELECT + L1(left paddle shift)'

if it flashes once, it's on 60% FF, if twice, then 100% FF.

does it still shake your desk and computer at 100% force feedback when you drive over those blue and white strips on the edge of the road? :) i think thats awsome. Theres such detail to the force feedback 👍

i have a flimsy desk where my wheel sits and yes it shakes like crazy, especially on nurburgring. I LOVE IT :D

makes u feel like u're going extremely fast :D :D

press select, R3 and the LEFT shift paddle for lower force.

i love the non 900 mode. (press select, R3 and the right shift paddle to toggle between 900 and 200 deg mode)

one more question:

is there an alternate way to reverse? coz pressing the triangle to reverse really sux :embarrassed:

I think if you downshift with the shifter twice below 1st gear it will stay in R mode (reverse) and you just press the gas pedal. Try it I haven't played GT3 in ages and can't play GT4.

ye right side is wrong!

Finally they made something with America in mind! Go left side driving!

I have to ask you, I own the DFP and how "real" does the 900 degree steering feel?

countersteering isnt that bad in gt3 while in 900 mode....so i imagine in gt4 it wont be too much of a hassle.

It was bad for me the gears kept whining and whining. I was like yikes.

Hey everyone! Sorry if this is a repost..but I just found the ULTIMATE setup for your DFP's. See the attach to see what I mean. If only I had a DFP and won the lottery... :indiff:

Hey Buggy Boy, I was wondering, does your DFP start shaking uncontrollably on Fuji's main straight with the McLaren? In both 180 and 900 degree mode?
My DFP is now back in his box waiting for GT4, so I can not try it out, but I don not remember it shaking at high speed in any car. There is needles shaking and vision blur at high speed, but no steering wheel vibration or shaking AFAIR.

I disagree with most comments in that thread. Ho-hum.
Ho-hum is a bit easy as a comment ...
You will need to get some better documented test results to convince me.

That is the official GT race sim/cockpit from Logicool, which I believe is the JP subsidiary to Logitech {more info can be found here if interested} and it's very cool looking.

Though the only downside is if you're not living in Japan, you will not be able to purchase it...which is why I went for this instead. :D ...Especially considering the two are pretty much similar in costs...well..almost...less then $100 separates the two..

If interested, you may find similiar race sim/cockpits here

Does any one know if you can turn down the feedback on the DFP. My arms get tired after racing for a while.
Does it keep on braking your stand?

Is it possible to get a DFP with the gear stick on the left? -_- Because the right is... wrong :P

Every single seat racing car and most other racing cars have their gear lever on the right hand side.

In the British Touring Car Championship, the Vauxhall Astra is actually an Opel as they are using left hand drive cars instead of rhd. They do that as the drivers are more used to changing gear with their right hand.

Ooops. Sorry about the double post. :dunce:

I recently bought this one here: http://gameorder.be/images/online.jpg ...and I must say so far I am pretty pleased with it especially considering that I am 1m94cm's tall :D it can be bought on www.gameorder.nl from worldwide (I reckon) and they currently offer the cheapest rate all over Europe at 259.99 Euros or around 350 US Dollars ....I furthermore own the DFP as well as a 50" Plasma since recently and the whole set up doesn't make it easier to wait for the PAL GT4 release to be honest with you :D

Thanks, Infanm. I'm going to get one of those. My friends and I have been looking for something like that for our LAN meets. They're also members here.

...hope you'll have fun with it... I think they currently have only the black/blue one in stock... not the red/black or black/black that do exist too. If you think that it's not going to be stable enough you can still do some do-it-yourself-work on it. Although I initially thought that it'd be worse and it was fair enuff when playing GT4P.
However, the guy from this web-shop delivers really quick apparently, I had mine within 4 days ordering from Switzerland.

Moreover, I plan to buy some sub-amp and bass shakers (they reproduce low frequency sounds with vibrations) in order to attach them underneath the playseat so that whenever engine sound is veeeery loud or when going "offroad" one's gonna get a "shaking experience" :D ...they're not even too expensive when ordering somewhere from the web.... you might wanna have a look at that too :D

Cheers

Ahh..the good ole Playseat!
Very nice and from those users that I know who have one, they come highly recommended!

Hope you enjoy yours, as I'm sure you will!

Would really like to have a 50' TV like you, but for now, I'm getting by with my Sony 36'...

Oh! I'm also looking into getting some bass shakers as well as that will definitely add to the overall feel of GT4! :)

Well we have a 45" TV in the TV room but it doesn't suppord HDTV but it's got surround sound.

Oh and use " for inches and ' for feet SimRaceDriver.;) Don't want to get the wrong idea.

the 900 is good until you have to countersteer.

i find i like the 200 better.

Depends on the game. In GT3, you're quite right, but that game doesn't support 900.. it still has the steering assists on.

Even in 900 mode, you'll find that you rarely have to turn the wheel more than you would in 200 mode. Go watch some videos of races from in-car.. you'll see the driver will hardly ever turn the wheel more than 100-110 degrees in either direction. The only time you ever have to turn further than that is just like real-life.. when you're going around a very sharp corner at very low speeds. The same holds true for countersteer. If you have to turn the wheel more than 90-100 degrees in the opposite direction, the car is pretty much gone anyway. You'd have to have it practically sideways. Which is more realistic... with steering assist in GT3 in 200 mode, you can recover from spins that would be impossible in real life. And now, they're just as impossible in GT4. And I like that. :) The wheel isn't that hard to countersteer with.. since, in a countersteer situation, the front wheels have lost most of their grip anyway, there's virtually no resistance. You can feel this in GT3 even, you turn it very easily to countersteer, and you can feel when the tires grip again. Plus, with more realistic turning ratios, you have a much better idea of exactly where the wheel needs to be in order to countersteer, even before the tires get their grip back. At least, for those of us who drive real cars. :)

Probably cheapen the experience.. hehe. I went straight to "Simulation" when I got the DFP and hooked it into GT3, and I haven't looked back since.

To start, I'll have virtually all aids turned off, for both the cars and the wheel. I want it to be as raw and real as possible. Most of that stuff is only in there for the casual gamer.
