i bought my dfp today and i think it's great...feeling every little bump in the road and the feeling of fighting the car is very fun...i did some tests were i recorded an mr2/ek9 run on aria/amalia....i was about 5 seconds slower on the mr2 and 10 seconds slower on the civic run with the dfp. the difficulty is definitely raised driving with the wheel....but u can only expect that. i went from 900 degrees of truning from the flick of a thumb toe 2 1/2 rotations.

People asking about turning on 900 mode.
My wheel came with it enabled, so if you are havng problems getting it to work, you might just be turning it off instead of on. :)

for people who dont know, who is obviously alot of people...teh wheel auto calibrates for teh game u play, gt4 is 900 degree anyother game is 200...

having a problem with my wheel 👎

while racing when i take a corner if i turn the wheel more than
a little bit the car starts to accelerate with no feet on the pedals :banghead:

does anybody else have this problem ?

on a turbo motor you can see the boost gauge go above 0

II have bought the wheel(Logitech PRO) today and is my first impression.
The quality is excellent. No doubt!
But is impossible drive with this wheel!
I’m a very good driver in real life with my Civic Type R.
With PS2 game pad I took 7.18(Type R and the track Nurburgring) and with the wheel I took 25 minutes???

You know.. I'm pretty sure i could make it around the ring blindfolded faster than 11 minutes with the DFP. 👎 How the heck can you be so slow if you own the same car in real life? Doesnt sound like a real story to me. :indiff:

Just thought I would add my impression of the driving force pro.

I got it yesterday, and set it up on a cheap table stand. Initially I was a bit disappointed as I was sucking as with the wheel and frustrated with driving so poorly, after playing years and years of gran turismo with the Ds2. But, I decided to stick with it, and entered the 200 miles around New York race to hone up my skills.

By the end of the race I was getting the hang of it, and man was I HAPPY. The wheel is so awesome, and rewarding. Before I'd always play auto, how I used the shifter, and ripping around nurburgring is unreal. It feels like you're there. It gives you so much control. I played for about 10 hours yesterday, and once I got the hang of it, I can say I had more fun playing GT4 than I have ever in a racing game.

Bottom line, it's worth the 110.00 dollars I paid. 👍

A word to the wise, don't get upset (like i did on a licence test trying to get gold) and spin the wheel really hard and fast. I was starting to spin out and I just got upset and spun it extremely hard and fast in the opposite direction. Since then, it isn't as strong a feedback and feels kinda loose. The wheel doesn't return to center if its only a little off either. Well, I talked to amazon, and they are going to exchange it for me. I know its my fault, but its nice a company will go out of their way to satisfy their patrons.

in the end, i guess it will end up working out, because I also have to send in my PS2 for the DRE error, so I'd be without that for 2 weeks, and I have quite a bit of homework this weekend that I probably wouldn't have done or would have done halfassed had I still had the wheel and gt4.

Why are you sending it in? You can get a new laser for $50 or so and it takes all of 5 minutes to swap out assemblies. Very very easy work.

Because its free. Sony had a class action lawsuit against them, and if you call them and tell them your ps2 has the DRE, they will fix it for free, even though I got mine on launch day. Plus, afterwards, I have a new 90 day warranty

Hi there - sorry for asking if its already been coveed but I couldnt find any info about this.........

Ive just been bougth a Logitech Rally vibration feedback wheel - While im up here in London (where they bought it) does anyoen knwo if it will work or be any good with GT4 - or whether I should take it back and get the pro?

I dont ever bother with a manual gearbox so not having a gear nob doesnt bother me at all - is the force feedback really worth the extra cash?

Thanks!!

I sent my DFP back to the retailer. The full 450 left or right is good for parking manuevers, but thats not something we do in GT4. Besides, they should have included realisticI didn't find the sequential shifter necessary either...paddles work better and thats what I used the most. The shifter is just for show. I didn't like the pedals, they were too loose and I found myself simply mashing it rather than feathering it like a real car. I needed to play WITHOUT shoes in order to tell which pedal was which. I couldn't tell what feedback was gripping feedback and what was slipping...it all felt the same. I ended up turning the sensitivity down, but it was still

Utterly, the noise of the wheel was what made me most annoyed with the system. I am a gamer, but I don't always have the volume pumped and the noise the DFP generates is what drove me to return it. I'm know for a fact there are ways to make quieter stepper motors, but doing so drives the cost up. Then again, as with most Logitech items, there is such a huge, built-in price cushion(aka $110 online and $150 brick/mortar, and the $20 rebate opportunity), that it may have been worthwhile selecting a quiter, better performing motor...

I love the shifter too since i often drift turns. I only use the paddles with fullblooded race cars. I havent driven any wrc cars yet, but I will probably use paddles with those. One of my favorite cars is that MRS spider (sequential shifter version)

I like the shifter, too picky of a group

I use the shifter too, the 'paddles' feel to button-esqe to me (because they are just buttons) and my hands are big enough that I can keep both hands in contact with the wheel & shift at the same time...

lol, i do that sometimes also. I just reach my two fingers over to shift sometimes. Driving 1 handed isnt too hard either.. I dont see why people complain about that.
Honestly, I think i'm gonna take a break from gt4 and play a little LFS. Racing against actuall people is more fun. and so is the drifting. :) Plus the clutch is manual. 👍

I swear this is the last time i am answering a question that has already been answered 200 times before. :grumpy:

Stronger force feedback, sturdier. More detailed force feedback and stronger potential force feedback.
plus it also works for the pc which is a good reason to buy it if you own multiple racing games for the PC. THe steering lock is adjustable on the PC. and the Force feedback settings are highly customizable 👍

Iv had the wheel for a week now and Iv already have the break problem which I fixed but Iv noticed that the FF has gotten weaker.

I understood that would happen, but after 1 week? Do I need to give logitech a call?

I have a question, is it possible to replace the wheel of the DFP with a real one? not that its fake, but a real racing steering wheel?? or will it be too heavy for the vibartion and everything? has anyone tried this???

Yes someone here from GTPlanet done that awhile ago (not long after the DFP came out), worked out pretty good. Someone may be able to dig the old thread up (or it maybe buried in some other thread).

Go have a look at FREX, they place real momo racing wheels on the DFP base.
