Just got my DFP and so far i have these settings

Power assits = off
Active assit = off
force feed back = strong
GT Force = simulation

and its brilliant

What settings give the best results?

I have My settings just like yours and i cant get enough of the wheel i refuse to use a controller i havnt yet the wheel is a top buy and well worth the money, just have some where to put it as i need to get a table that works well. But other whise if you dont have one and your playing GT4 your missing out, without the wheel i feel your not getting the full experience. 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 for the wheel :)

If anybody's interessted in securing the pots in your pedals like I did, check out update 9 (you have to go way down into post number 2...theres a lot of pics before that).

Update 9 is about putting extra cushins under the pedal-arms, so that you don't accidentially press the pedals too hard causing the potentiometers to go beyond what they can handle. And the fix does not break the warranty.

Well, hope you can use this :)

Best regards,
Jesper

If it is not too much trouble could you please direct me to exactly where this update 9 is. I've been searching all around this site and looked everywhere and cant find what you are talking about. I would really like to know because I dont want my pedals to do that. Thanks............

Hi guys, I'm new to the forum, I just purchased both Gt4 and the DFP, and the game is awsome! But I'm having some troubles with DFP though, I'm not sure if the wheel is broken, or it's just the way it is? The Feedback on the wheel.. is not that impressive as I expected, for example.. when I run straight into the wall... the wheel doesn't even rumble, is that normal? I'm positive I set it to 100% L1+R3+select

Thanks for your help

There are some settings in home->options you could take a look at. Make sure you configure the settings for "player 1 driving force pro" - you need to scroll down to find it.

yup, I did everything in the options as you said, driving assits off, checked the options about the force strenght, etc etc,
but the forcefeedback isn't as strong as I expected, and everytime I hit the wall, nothing happens, the rumbling during rally races are minimal. Since this is first ever driving wheel, I don't really know what to expect, so don't know if the wheel's broken or, it's normal and I expected too much?

The one key thing I've found that helps using the DFP in a more controllable way is to do what you would do in a normal car: when your hands start making more than 90 degrees of movement in a sharp corner, re-position both hands back at 3 and 9-o clock (do one hand at a time in a smooth motion) and continue the turn. Reverse the process as you unwind.

If you try to keep both hands fixed at the same spots of the wheel the entire time while at the same time trying to use the paddles you'll always be screwed in slow-speed corners/hairpins/etc.

Get used to using the shifter and not the paddles.

I also used two pieces of aluminum L-channel with small c-clamps (both available at hardware stores) to extend my DFP further off the small table I'm using so that it is closer to me (I sit on the floor in a spare Recaro I have). Always avoid any kind of truck driver like positions of pedals and steering wheel. It is not proper for road racing.

Power adapter plugged in?

ofcourse...I can feel the bumps on the road, though not strong feedbacks as some people claims to be...
I really do hope its because the wheel is broken or something so I can exchange it, if not..then.. I'm really dissapointed at the 199 dollar wheel I spent on

I just got around to ordering one of these. I hope the pedals don't break like has been described. If they do break though, will Logitech replace them free of charge with a newer set that will be less likely to break?

Congrats, the pedals dont break the pots just move slightly which is easy fixable. Yes Logitech will replace them but your likely to have the same problem.

Cool. I can't wait to try it out. I've been putting off playing GT4 properly until I got the wheel, so now I'll be able to enjoy the game properly soon. :D

Hey guys, sorry if this has been asked before, but is it normal for the wheel to have an approx. zone of a few degrees near the center where theres no feedback at all and the wheel feels kind of loose? I was going down the back straight on the ring and had the wheel centered and it was perfectly still.

these new drivers add specific support for the driving force pro as well as other logitech wheels. http://www.wingmanteam.com/files/Patches/beta/LGS460ENU.exe

you can even change the lock.

540° is what most rally car (WRC) steering wheels have in real life.

Ok, i reinstalled the 460's and got my wheel to show up as a DFP. However, taht is only in the usb port i originally plugged it into when i set it up for the first time. If i plug it into any other usb port, it shows up as a driving force (non-pro).

As an update, I got my replacement wheel from amazon. Amazing service. I put in the request for an exchange on wednesday night, and my wheel was here friday afternoon. I've had my new wheel for a week and it works like a champ.

I got out a really old steering wheel of mine earlier, I'm pretty sure that I bought it when the ps1 was still the top console around, I can tell you that there is no intermediate stages on the pedals, it's either full acceleration or no acceleration, so I'm guessing it must be like dual shock 1, kind of thing. Also I was having real trouble using the steering, it was going from nothing to just flying around, so I had a look and measured that there is 40 degrees of rotation each way, where turning the wheel that 40 degrees has absolutely no effect, the G-force steering display thingy doesnt move for those 40 degrees either way, maybe its slightly broken from a long time no use, but I think I'm going to use it as an excuse, along with the fact my only nicely shaped ds2 controller is starting to play up occasionally, to get a DFP.

I was just wondering, does the DFP have such a "zone" where moving the wheel does not actually put any steering input in, maybe it might have a much smaller one or not at all? If there is a zone does it increase when using 900 degree mode over 200 degree mode? If it does I think that would really put me off buying it, especially seeing as its so expensive. Also are the pedals like if I brake half the way down, the brakes will actually be applied half, not full?

Also I heard it was pretty hard to get hold of in the UK, had a ring around my local stores today and none had it in stock.... so if anyone in the UK knows any UK based internet/mail order firms, or any stores in Birmingham area that has them in stock please PM me... cheers.

Just bought my DFP for $75, new, from Sam's Club! I saw it, and freaked out at the price, then immediately got it. Now I'm trying to find decals to put on it, but I'm having no luck.

yea, if you apply the brakes or acceL ahlf way, it will only record half way
it is very sensitive on GT4 both acel and brake

force feedback on it is simply awesome :D
there is no real zone where if you move a little the input will not respond

Is a wheel seriously necessary? :dunce:
Maybe you guys can help me out? ;)
I'm a Div One racer in weekly series, but I always seem to be a second or so behind the top guys like Mr P, GoKents and Unified. :scared:
I've been a devout D-padder from original PSone and GT1 days, and I've never tried a wheel. :nervous:
How much difference does it make? I've never used the analogue sticks to any great effect, as I'm quicker with the old D-pad.
How much of a difference do you folks & folkesses with wheels reckon it made to you guys, over the D-pad? :P
Answers in seconds/per lap please!

i only started using my old logitech gt wheel for GT4 and it has made a vast improvment on my driving abilities in game.....

thought i would tell you that..

ps. even my mates have a go and prefer it than the d-pad on the ps2 controller

I just recently purchased GT4 and have yet to play it. Should I wait until I have the DFP to begin playing the game, or should I give it a go without it to begin with. I played the first 3 to 100% with the DS2, however plan on buying the DFP. I realize this may be a dumb question

Actually I'm stuck with the same dilemma. I've completed about 6% of GT4 and I'm getting a DFP for my birthday in May, and now I'm thinking "I SO want to play on it some more" but at the same time I want to hold back and start a new game when I get the DFP and experience the rest of the game for the first time with it.

It's so tough, I keep having urges to go and thrash it out on the Nurburgring with my DS2 but.. I must resist! :scared:

Hi well I had the same problem . When Gt4 came out I was waiting for my DFP that I had ordered and thought about waiting too, but as it turned out I had to wait couple of weeks cause they were out of stock. Naturally for someone who had been anxiously waiting for the game for 3 years I just thought "screw it". and started playing with the DS2. I did the first 3 licenses all gold with the DS2. After I got the wheel it took a couple hours to really get used to it but after that I swore never to "drive" again with the DS2. Its like a new game with the DFP, so my suggestion would be to play and enjoy the game with the DS2, cause it ll be like playing a new GT4 when you get the wheel.

The wheel is amazing, I had bought the GT force a while back but ended up selling it cause of the lack of a good place to clamp it, and that lap thing y sucked big time, but this thing is trully amazing. Every car feels diferent once you get used to the wheel.

Many people once they got the wheel said didnt like it . I am almost certain that if they keep at it they wont ever drive with the DS2 again. Right now I am doing the S-licenses(all gold of course) and I love the wheel more as every lap goes by.
. :)

Just wait until you use a driving pod/ergonomic structure. It's night and day with a steering wheel setup. I cannot stress enough how important proper pedal, wheel, and seating position are. It's just as important suspension modifications in a car are.

I made one myself out of aluminum L-channel and square tubing using a scrollsaw for tubing/channel straight cuts and, unfortunately, a portable drill for all of the holes. Anyways, parts were about 50$ total for the aluminum, available at Home Depot, and you will need a seat. Being a real life racer as well - I already had a spare Recaro Pole Position sitting around.

If you have a bandsaw or fixed mount disc cutter and a drill press - labor is about 6-8 hours (accounting for screw-ups, tweaking, etc.).

If people are interested I can post pictures and dimensions.
