I did a search and could find nothing to fix this, so here goes. My wheel is only a couple of days old, REVB model. Everything was fine until the last couple of times I used it, it calibrates fine, whizzing round in both directions and stops with both green lights steady at 12 o'clock (dead centre). But now when I start a race, as soon as the START appears onscreen, the centre suddenly shifts so that the green lights are now at 1 o'clock (slightly to the right) and throughout the race in order to drive in a straight line I now have to keep the green lights at 1 o'clock instead of 12 o'clock.

Please can someone advise me. Is this something that can be fixed easily or is there something wrong with my wheel? Thanks.

I doubt this could be fixed easily as it sounds more like a problem with it setting the dead centre position incorrectly, which is controlled by the FFB motor, the laser and the software. You could take the cover off and check if the laser is mounted correctly.

I would also try rotating the wheel from maximum right to left once the dead-centre positon changes in the game, as doing this might re-calibrate the wheel.

I've had my DFP since around March and love it. But I have always had to unplug the USB lead and plug it in again to get it to calibrate when the PS2 is first powered up. After that, if I reset the PS2, the wheel would calibrate again, but if I powered off the PS2 completely, then turned it on again, I would have to unplug the USB again to calibrate. It's been a little irritating, but not much.

It's been that way since the day I got it, but since about Tuesday, it has started to calibrate from power up with out unplugging the USB! I'm not complaining, but what's that all about?
Alan

The wheel should auto-calibrate when starting a game that supports the wheel.

If you reset the console after the wheel has been auto-calibrated you may need to re-calibrate it again by unplugging and re-plugging it back in, otherwise you can get some strange results like pedals not working in some games etc.

Another stuff-up by Logitech. I believe their cordless controller also has issues when you reset or switch the console on/off, sometimes it refuses to work properly as the DFP does.

I had the same problem, but it's fix now :P(myself)
It's more like a plastic problem & not the sensor of the wheel. It's more like a production problem. The plastic for the accelerator pedal is not well made & make the accelerator sensor loose which make moving the brake sensor so it end up making the brake sensor flickering when you press the accelerator sometime.

Yeah, it seems the 2 pots touch against each other when you press the gas hard or repeatedly.

I've found the best solution is a small amount of adhesive putty in-between the pots, and also a little bit in the groove where the metal tabs on the pots slide in.

Also, if anyone is finding their pedals make a loud annoying creak, it's coming from within the coil of the spring (took me about 2hrs to figure this out  )

Just put some lube in between the coiled part.

Got my DFP today, man, what a wheel. :)

I need to adapt to it yet, but its so awesome!

veilsidebr: the way you drive you will have no problems doing that.....now there is even less chances to ever catch up with you! Also congrats to you on your nomination to the GTP Team, you deserve it!

Thanks for the reply, Ikari_San. Are there any links to any pictures of the inside, so that I know what it SHOULD look like before I start tinkering?

I live in Uk and i am thinking about getting the Logitech wheel for my Bro as a Birthday present (He is a GT4 lover like me) Where is the best place to get one within the Uk? and about how much are they around. I saw £99 somewhere and thought thats a bit steep as i dont have anywhere at the moment to put it

i think, if you want a DFP to play GT4 with, buy a Williams F1 force feedback racing wheel, they are so much better, trust me, and they are only 50 quid in argos compared to DFP 90 quid.

Is the Willams wheel the sort of Oval/Square shape one?

I dont mind paying the 90 quid like as long as i know i am getting the best one in the field they aint in the shops though are they? i need it by saturday for my bros presy :D

Well, I know that Ikari :) Point being that it has never calibrated itself on power up until last week and it has continued to calibrate itself since. I mean, what's changed? Same wheel, same copy of the game, same PS2 with two DS2s plugged in. I couldn't understand why it wouldn't calibrate itself, but I'm even more puzzled now as to why it has suddenly started doing what it should have done in the first place!

yeah the williams one is kind of, oblongish, its so good though, and ive played on a DFP

I also have this wheel, and i've never experienced any problems with it. GTFAn and R34JSE have both told me that they've used DFPs and that thew williams wheel feels exactly the same. It registers fine with all the GT games and all the other driving games that I have too. It also has a few cool little extra features too, for example, the wheel can be removed like on a real F1 car, and it has 2 little screens. One is for choosing the Mode (eg: analog, digital and force feedback). You only need Analog and Digital for use on the PS1 since the FFB registers with all games I think. I would definately reccomend it.

ARe you sure about that? On 2 of my REVB units they both said REVA on the inside of the steering wheel cover.

What's the deal? REVA wheel but REVB pedal set?

BTW they were both good quality wheels with perfect dead-centres (well they should all have them since the optical sensor positions it) , and they didn't exhibit any of the poor build quality reported in REVA units.

i thought i was, yeah. :ouch: but then again this was on my RevA wheel, and it had a RevA marking so, it made sence. but i guess RevB's are only new pedal boxes, wich also makes sence as the wheel was not the problem. you would think that they would update the cover plates but as a factory needed to replace thousands of cover plates as well and restamp thousands of "B" cover plates i can see them saying "way bother".

esp. sense they are having problems filling orders.

I've just finished filming myself using my williams wheel so you guys can compare it with the dfp. I've done a foot-cam view, a stick shifter -cam view, a regular wheel view and the overhead style view like in f1 :D

Ill try and upload a version this evening. Ill upload the video on wednesday but until then I can only film the video camera screen with my webcam. It still comes out alright though.

I ask which wheel my Bro wants and he says he doesnt like the Williams 1 coz of the shape omg -.- i need fork out another £40 for something exacly the same.

he says he likes the little GT Silver badge in the middle of the DFP 1

OMG!! not to offend anyone but to like a wheel for the Center badge :dunce: and just think, someone on this board COVERED that lovely badge with a HONDA badge :ill: 👎 👎 :yuck:

My bro likes the badge coz he is 10 and he thinks that 1 is "better looking"

I say its asteering wheel what diff do looks make?

And who the **** covered it with a Honda sign ? LOL they r either really stupid or a big Honda fan :yuck: :yuck: :yuck: :yuck: :yuck: :yuck:

why does he care about the stupid badge? its not like you spend much time looking at it. Just get him the 340 cheaper alternative. Itso not worth paying 340 more just coz he likes a shiny badge.

The wheel has been working without problems up until just a moment ago. I accidently hit the wheel, and when I checked if everything was fine, I couldn't calibrate the wheel on Game Controllers under Control Panel.

Still the wheel worked. It worked fine (900 degrees) in the GTR demo and Live for Speed. It also had both lights on.

No matter what, the control panel wouldn't allow me to calibrate it.

So I uninstalled and reinstalled Logitech Wingman Profiler, and just as I feared, it recognized, the wheel, made 2 turns and half, clicked in both left and right, but now it sits with the left light on.

I don't know what to do. I don't think the wheel is busted.

Hi!

Maybe someone already noticed this..but look on the front side of DFP. it looks like front part of Honda S2000.

what do you think?

hi all, got a problem, just got a DFP and have been having a great time with it, but turned it on this afternoon to find it has went into 200 degrees mode and i cant seem to get it back to 900. i have tried resetting the ps2 etc but no joy, i also tried the button combinations at the start of this thread but nothin, all i see on the wheel is the left light on but no right light. So does anyone have the answer that will make me happy?

hmmm... weird. have you tried shutting off you PS2, uplugging the wheel, turn the PS2 back on and wait for game to load before plugging in the wheel?

give that a try. and always make sure the power is fully plugging to an energized outlet or power strip!

the wheel works great...some guy before said it doesnt auto calibrate....i dont know but yours might be broken, because everytime i plug it in or reboot my ps2 it auto calibrates itself. only problem i have with it is that i have a nice dent on the top of the rondel in the middle....:(

Everything is fine now. The problem was with the Wingman software (the software you need in order to use the DFP with PC games). The wheel still works fine, although for some reason the brake never reaches its maximun pressure (this only happens in Live for Speed. It is fine with GTR)

I have my DFP clamped to the desk, in which my laptop sits too. The DFP is on the far left side, when it is not being used, while the laptop and I sit on the right. I hit the wheel with my knee while moving my legs.
