I will try to get on for a little bit tonight to re-familiarize myself with the car/track. I plan on making it tomorrow, but probably won't be there until ~7:00 central / 8:00 eastern.

This all depends on the cooperation of my internet as well.

Same here, will be rotating between this, FIA, and ALMS.

Will be testing tonight. See you guys at Monaco.

Please post in this thread if you plan to make it tomorrow.

Owens: Have you sent a friend request to toolo4sno? Or is this in a public lobby?

Can you guys update the first post with the currently scheduled time for the race (pre-race practice also, if there is any)?

I won't be able to make the race, I start working @ 7pm Pacific.

So, is this race today? I have the F10, which is good around Monaco, but I feel as if the F2007 would still be better anyway, and i've got the cash to buy one.

I believe the race is today at 8:30 eastern. The room will probably open an hour or more ahead of the race.

The F10 seems to be quicker around Monaco, but it's also a little more challenging to drive through a few sections. The F2007 may be a better choice for a long race with heavy damage.

I've updated the OP with the new time/date info. Unfortunately I won't be able to attend tonight but Owens will take the reigns and make sure everything runs smoothly. Good luck and be careful in the first turn!

Brandon

Heavy damage? Whoa. That'll be intense.

Well, i've doen extensive running with both cars at Monaco, the F10 has more mechanical grip, but it's a lot more difficult to drive, so you can't easily take full advantage of that grip, so my best in that was a 1:10.850. Meanwhile, in the F2007, which is far easier to drive fast, I threw it around in a blistering 1:10.030. So, I'm going to use the F2007 tonight guys.

Hopefully the connection between all of us is good. One serious problem I had when racing in a Ferrari F1 lobby recently was the absolutely horrid connection that literally everyone in the room had. I bailed after 2 races, one at Monaco and another ridiculous choice of the Nurburgring 24hr.

Room number will be posted in this thread around 7pm EDT
Wouldn't it be better to just make it a lobby to prevent outsiders from joining?

Impressive pace! I've managed a 1:10.2xx with the F10 in a practice room, but it certainly wasn't a lap I could repeat. Qualifying times seemed to be mid-high 1:10's.

My connection is usually flaky at best, but hopefully it'll hold on for the race time.

Peter, the private lobby has a different tire model. The tires never warm up right.

This is the key reason for open lobby.

Also when testing. Are you testing online or offline?

Be sure you are testing online.

OK, not sure if that's big enough of a grid for me lol.
I don't even have a tranny tune yet, when you guys starting?

When you get here and spend 15 minutes tuning.

Springs max, shocks max, sways maxed. Stock Toe and camber

168mph top speed.

LSD is your preference.

Lemme go cover my lawn mower then I'll be in...

Congratulating to Gman aka GTP_Potatochip for winning the ASRA GP of Monaco!!!

I will be sending out level 24 ticket to you asap!

Good Job PJ-GM and Toolo for getting podium finish. As well Blaze and myself for finishing what was a physical challenge. He was in the heat, I just couldnt shake the timing issues So took five minutes to stretch and clear mind went back at it ;)

Hats off once again, you have proven to be the Elite!!!

What a fantastic race. Very eventful ,and very exiting for me. Great win for potato chip though.

Apparently I qualified 4th, but got up to 3rd by the end of lap 1. Then, stuck behind Owens, potato chip got to pull away from me. Owens himself made a big mistake, which put me into 2nd. Now here, the fight for the win began. I sat back analyzing the time gaps, and sorting out a strategy to finish ahead of him, at this point the gap is over 20 seconds before my first pitstop. Came out and started to clock some ridiculous times, consistent 1:10's and 1:11's, fastest of them was a 1:10.5. I was biting chunks off of potatochip on his older tyres. The gap quickly dwindled, and was under 20 seconds(pitstop delta time) when he came in to pit. I still managed to keep pulling a gap on him, and I thought I was set for the win. But a spin into turn 1 and a mighty whack from Blaze, which put my engine out of commission. Strategy somewhat compromised from that shunt, which forced me to pit prematurely, I soldiered on, until later, a spin at the seaside chichane, made me reverse into the wall, again inflicting engine damage. This ended up being my 3rd stop for the race, one more than a hoped for 2. Had to fuel up on this stop, which made potatochip get ahead now with a fair gap. He managed to pull out his gap, by a lot in the later parts of my stint, as I was hit with tyre wear, and not having enough fuel to finish the race. So, with only around 10 or so laps to go, I was in for the 4th time, 2 more than hoped for. It was then with a gap of over 1 minute, that I turned it up to 11, and started to take loads of time out of him, even doing my fastest lap and perhaps the fastest lap of the race, a 1:10.4 in the process. But, it wasn't enough to catch up, and fuel was once again low on the final lap, so I had to nurture the car home on the last lap, and finished 30 seconds behind him.

I'm kicking myself now because a win was in reach, but my own mistakes, and the inconsistency that has plagued me since the start of my online racing career, compromised me once again. But, a 2nd place is a great result, one which I am very satisfied with, especially the act that I was maybe the fastest guy out there today. Once again, fantastic win by potatochip, you deserved it ;)

What about tooloo and I? Do we get tickets too? :)

Did anyone deal with anything worse than 4 minor corner boo boos for more than a lap?

I think I only got to 4 corner damage, but ran with it 10+ laps, multiple times. I biffed my engine once with a few laps to go. Nothing much to fight for other than restoring my demolished honor by unlapping myself. I had been part of a 45 lap race around there with about 10 cars (to start). I thought that one was a killer. This was probably worse that the 48 laps in the rain at Suzuka we did (light damage).

Potato: Sorry if I biffed you going into the tunnel. I cut to the right to allow you to overtake. I should have just watched my mirrors to see what side you drafted to. Do you run no ABS?

I got up to 3 corner booboos at one point, but for most of the race ran with 1 corner booboo.

Did you unlap yourself though?

I've never done a start like that. It was interesting. The grid was sure chomping at the bit behind me on the start/finish straight. I did like how it made turn 1 drama become minimized.

You're right.

On a different note, I really had no idea that qualifying knockout sesions were happening, I thought my 1:11 time from earlier would've secured pole for me. Guess it didn't count then :(

So were the only qualifiers from the earlier knock out qualifying the first two P1/P2? I wasn't sure why I started 3rd.

Peter and Toolo be sure we are friends. I will get you something sent over too. ;)

I think i was carrying some kind of curse lol.....

Every time someone passed me(Peter,GTP_Potato,toolo4sno)......They ended up spinning in front of me on the next lap and i ended up clobbering them in the side.....its a curse lol....dont pass blaze lol.

Then one time myself i spun out after the chicane and GTP_Potato had no where to and i got clobbered....its safe to say everyone got clobbered at least once through no fault of their own lol.....The track is so narrow that theres no where to avoid a spun out car....

If the damage model worked correctly i would have crossed the finish line on foot.....

I ended up using my wheel and i have to say the most tiring part was turning for the hairpin every single lap.....

It was a great race though and i improved my best times from 1.15s to 1.13's...throughout the race....still way off the leaders times but considering it was all stock tune not too bad.

I even had a great scrap with GTP_Potato even though i was 2 laps down...he must have been on very old tires though

No problem, I don't even remember the incident. Yeah, I run with ABS off.

Blaze, that was a great little battle we had at the end. Sorry if I held you up at all, but my tires were almost completely gone. I did the race in 1 stop, which I think was a mistake. My lap times were 3 or more seconds off the pace by the end of each stint, so I'm lucky pj didn't end up catching me.

Pj, great race. I was really nervous when you were taking 3+ seconds per lap off the gap. I don't doubt that you'd have won without those extra pitstops you had to take.

Last, thank you Owens and Brandon for these ASRA races. My internet didn't work for the Indy 500, but I thoroughly enjoyed this one and look forward to more in the future. I appreciate the organization that goes into making these races work smoothly. 👍
