The New King of Racers? FM4

The cars look so real to me I just can't quite put my finger on how amazingly realistic these are.

I almost smell petrol whilst looking at them.

Good job T10.

:)

I think only last year Ferrari 458 screens are really, really awesome, out of this world. But newest are something from our reality.
Hope I wrong. Buying FM4 almost only for Vista mode. 👍

I wonder if muscle cars will get any kind of option for big slicks for even tiny wheelies. I know it sounds ridiculous but I swear there was a trailer for FM2 or 3 that showed that. Also they had drag races in FM3 but no wheelies. If you get the right suspension, tire pressure, HP and right tire pressure....I say lets wheelie...straight into the wall.

There was a vid before FM3 came out that showed a new Challenger doing a wheelie, but the only way to do it in FM3 was to launch from a special "sticky" pavement section on Ladera. The launch grip physics should hopefully be improved by the new tire model.

It's actually in the FM3 idle video (i.e have the game idle at the "press start" screen.)

IDK what the length of the treated tarmac of real drag strips are, but I feel if that distance was emulated on the FM3 drag strips with the sticky Ladera surface the drag community would have been happy. It does do odd things with resistance/speed though.

I might have to get a summer job to get a 360 and f4. Lets see is PD can match this next year.

How can PD match what they don't acknowledge, or at least according to what Kaz claims?

And unless GT6 is arriving several years early, I can't think of them releasing anything worthwhile.

If you play on PC, GTR3 and rfactor 2 are in development and a better option to go. Graphics may not be that good but both are going to be great sims.

Forza4 is just an updrade with 5 tracks. They haven't shown day/night, rally or any other feature so far. Next GT game will be more polished than GT5. Something like Forza4 did, but I hope they do more than that

With new tracks. A new lighting system. New physics. New cars. Re-rendering of the old cars. New gameplay modes. New kinds of racing. New features for both single- and multiplayer.

Yeah, just an upgrade, clearly

I think everyone should play both, as they are different things.

Rfactor and GTR are always sandbox games with a very high competitive element on a serious level, unless you are really good at racing games you won't enjoy it.

Even for me coming from a sim racing background, Forza serves a very good role as a leisure game, sometimes painting cars, making a replica car of my real life ride etc.

So in this thread you dismiss graphics yet in the other thread you bash FM4 because of the graphics? Why not just start every post with 'I hate FM.'?

I love how the troll has ignored the fact that T10 will be releasing more info down the road.

Or the fact that GT5 is easily seen for the samething he's critiquing Forza for.

FM will never be a Full Sim , and i think that the makers of FM doesnt want that

I think they want a mix of sim and arcade(Fun). That is the reason why FM or NFS or F12010 .... will never be a choice for me .

But i think that the guys who are playing FM or games like that will be very happy about FM4 ( ps: 10 cars per month with DLC -> the cars will not be very good and for me this would be a big **** , i want a finished game and not a half game , at the end i would pay some 100 euros for this game lol , FM3 has sold 3M copies maybe They want to get more money with the DLC's (microsoft style) to close the difference of 5M copies ? because gt5 Sold 8M copies in the first months )

PS: i don't compaired the two games i just compaired how much they sold , i say that because i think it would be wrong to do that , lets wait for NFS Shift 2 then we can do that XD

Well I hope your not mentioning that in comparison to GT5. Because GT5 is NOT a full sim either. The only way anyone of us will play a true sim racer is on the PC. Just saying after about a week or two with GT5 and it feels more arcade then sim and I can't say the same about the many sims for my PC. The same can be said for Forza 3 however.

Ok all this good but where is innovations? Where is broken engines, broken wheels, penalty system...Same exact thing every time but in different cover. Reminds me all those cheap commercials. It's like improvement, but almost the same.

Well if you want you can say this time they will have more cars on track and basically other improvement like graphics from previous game and game modes etc

Other thigns they haven't shown so far. I am sure they have already planned DLC. Which these days everyone does even before the game is released  :yuck:

Sadly PC racing sims do not spend so much effort in graphics and car models so in comparision to those console sim are definitely better. There will not be even a proper carrier mode :( and rewind, autolog and such options is unlikely to be even considered. However number of AI cars and other graphics setting can be customized based on config.

Still seems much more improvement than the GT series...
Before adding weather - night and day transitions - etc, etc, they have to get the basic stuff right - physics - AI - alot of tracks - good career mode - good damage system - and to me looking from the vids I see (because unfortunatly I never played forza) it seems they have got most of the stuff better than the GT series (and I was a big GT fan)
But improvement IMO you can see in F1 series from codemasters and Shift series from SMS

If you talking about real sims then you are in the wrong forum/ sub forum

Yeah, they sure as hell are planning DLC.
My point still stands: You just posted some utter BS. FM4 is clearly more than a mere 'upgrade'.

I was a long time forza player in one of the top racing teams in the game full of fantastic drivers, when we came over to GT5, one of the first things we noticed was how poor the penalty system is (putting it politely) How can you even question what is by far a more superior penalty system than probably all console games out there.

Watching all the videos and reading up on whats going on with FM4, unless Kaz steps it up I see myself going back to the FM series. I will still play GT5 as it is also a great game and enjoy the WRS and how competitive it is.

In my opinion PD best have some great features lined up before FM4's release, because what is meant to be the best driving game experience may actually shift over to xbox, as they seem to be giving gaming fans what they want and more.

How long was it til' GT implemented this? How bad was the penalty system originally?

You GT fans are a hypocritical bunch. Again, all your arguments can be turned back on GT5, but you won't dare acknowledge it.

Why exactly are you here then?

We will see when the game releases how many new things it has

We have already seen a lot that's new in the game.
Have we seen Autovista? Yes.
Have we seen Kinect interaction? Yes.
Have we seen a new lighting system? Yes.
Have we seen 16 cars on the grid? Yes.
Have we seen the new World Tour mode? Yes.
Have we seen the new Rival mode? Yes.

No need to wait for anything to call you out on your BS, is there?

That is what it is, an upgrade

But yeah I guess that is what most games do these days. Every year COD does the same thing

So, unless it's a completely new franchise, it's just an upgrade, is that what you're saying?
Final Fantasy has been nothing but upgrades for the last 20 years?
GT has just been getting upgrades since 1998?

Get real.

By the way, your first post stated, and I quote:
Forza4 is just an updrade with 5 tracks.

And that is utterly false and just that: BS, doesn't matter how you're spinning it.

This coming from the guy who listed high/low beams as features.

You're such a hypocrite. Go away. 👎

Kimi needs to press left two or three times with his avatar to show his real emotions regarding FM4..

*those of you who've played LBP know what I'm talking about ;)

High, low beams and movalbe parts were only for premiums for GT5. Those were not present in other racing games during that time.

Look there is no shame in admitting it. The next GT game will be more polished game with improvement like graphics, game modes and so on ... but I think they will have more stuff ;)
