It shouldn't be faulty in the first place, and if it were having to pay for a swap unit is just ... wrong.

You send your thing, they fix it because a guarantee is purchased with the thing, I can't see how they justify adding costs to the guarantee that came with the retail price in the first place (and if the thing is broken beyond repair, I don't see how they charge you for a new one).

Good thing I don't have to deal with that BS.
You don't have to pay anything. It works just like you said if you want to ship them yours and wait on it to get fixed. You do though have the option to give them a deposit and they will ship you a Xbox without you having to wait for yours to ship, then them to fix it and then Ship it back. This way you get it in 2 days instead of 2 weeks. When they receive your faulty unit they reimburse your deposit. Both ways do not cost you one cent.

Did you not read the article ?

And how can you expect that out of the millions of Xbox ones made some will not work?

Doesn't seem worth it considering you void your warranty. Opening the Xbox One can be tricky. Seems to have very strong plastic clips holding the top cover in place and you'll most likely create a lot of dig marks. Someone will figure out an easier way soon or create a little lever to pop the top off. Plus you need to hack the drive so I'd wait to see what happens before most try it.

They aren't charging you anything. They ask for a deposit and once they get your system, they refund your money and end up giving you a free game.
Its actually one of the best return policies I have seen. This is also way better than the 360 refund process.

If your X1 dies, you call ms and request a new one. You give them a deposit and they send you another X1 within a couple days. At that point you have (2) X1 systems in your house. Then you send your broken X1 back. After that your deposit is refunded to you. This is WAY better than what Sony is currently doing with the PS4. If the PS4 breaks you send it in and you are refunded the money. Then you have to go and try to find another PS4. Good luck with that. At least with the X1 you are guaranteed to have one in a couple days. 👍

In the UK Sony send a van round to your house with a new PS4 and take your old one within days of phoning. No need to send money either. Been like this since PS2. Maybe even PS1, can't remember.
First I have ever heard of that and that does sound like a great feature. Those drivers must have been very busy. Its definitely not in the US that I know of. Would have been nice to have that UK van available in my area when my very first launch PS2 didn't work right out of the box.

Source? Everything I have read states that Sony has set aside a number of systems specifically for those who have issues with their console so they can get them a new system shipped to their house as soon as possible. In fact, I know a few people on another forum who did exactly that and Sony never refunded them and made them find another PS4, they just sent in their PS4 and received another one a few days later, directly from Sony.

Yep, I read that as well. I was tempted to respond to @CAMAROBOY69, but at the risk of maybe sounding like a fan-boy (which I'm not), I decided not to. But what I am interested in is where he heard that. I read the latest PS4 news practically everyday and never read that. I only read about how Sony would send a "coffin" and would send out a replacement ASAP.

Who here has a problem with potty mouth? Let's be honest, some of us do. If you are a popular Let's Play'er, your mouth could earn you a ban from XBL. A claim that has since been confirmed by Microsoft. If you are recording a match of Call of Duty, and you let out a 🤬 word while using Upload Studio, you could earn up to a 20 day ban from XBL. As popular COD player MinnesotaBurns said once the news became more wide spread, if you are a little child who's dad is drinking Jack in the other room, Microsoft can monitor your language, and if you get out of line, they will punish you for them. Stupid isn't it?

But apparently, according to theouthousers.com, EA and 2K is taking the potty mouth punishment one step further, and this applies to the Playstation 4 and XBO versions of FIFA 14 and NBA 2K14. In FIFA, you would see a message pop up in game from your team's (the team that you pick at the beginning of the game) board of directors if you let the wrong words slip out. Further misconduct would result in in-game cards. Here is an example of the note:

In NBA2k14, you could actually earn an in-game technical foul for your potty mouth. As you may be aware, two technicals and you are ejected.

Do keep in mind, that the in game punishments for potty mouth do apply for both PS4 and XBO.

If that's true, it's a bit of a joke. I can understand swearing on a live stream, but penalizing you for swearing in your own house? Ridiculous. Where I'm from, some people practically use swear words as a term of affection.

Does it only apply if you start swearing over xblive/psn or does it still happen in single player?

According to MinnesotaBurns, it's anytime that the Kenict mic can pick it up.

But clearly putting an always-live microphone (and cameras) in your living room was going to be a fantastic idea.

If it's true, the gall of MS/Sony/EA/2K on this is astounding.

It doesn't do it on single player. At least not on single player.

Actually, Sony's camera and mic set up isn't required for operation or gameplay. Still, the gall of them is pretty astonishing considering that most countries have laws that prohibit that sort of behavior. I am pretty sure the lawsuits will fly once this becomes widespread.

First and foremost. DO NOT TRY THIS ON THE X1!

Hilarious! Unfortunate, but hilarious that some have bricked their X1's this way.

Forza 5 is the only X1 game that uses dedicated servers.

Spawnfirst
When Microsoft pitched all of the Xbox One’s features way back in October, one of the major selling points that accompanied the system was the promise of free dedicated servers and cloud processing for all Xbox One games that would have some sort of multiplayer functionality.

Of course, the world rejoiced at the thought of not having to wait for host migration, and reveled in the idea of having a lag-less gaming environment to spend their free time in. However, with the eventual launch of the Xbox One, eagle-eyed users of NeoGaf began to notice the distinct lack of dedicated server support in a variety of games.

MS DRM interrupts Killer Instinct Tournament in NYC.

FGCNN
it appears that Microsoft's insidious Digital Rights Management System, or "DRM", reared its ugly head during a local tournament for the Xbox One title Killer Instinct in New York City on 12 December 2013. During a live broadcast of the tournament on Twitch.tv, it appears that Microsoft's DRM system on the Xbox One activated, dropping the players back into the Xbox One Operating Systems' "Home" screen and prompting them to verify that they "own this game or app". It took nearly four minutes to resolve the DRM issue by connecting to the Internet to verify the software as genuine. This issue may prove to be a deal-breaker for the Tournament Organizers Party, which may opt not to run tournaments for games on the system, including Killer Instinct, should DRM issues such as these continue.

So?

It wasn't claimed every game available would be using dedi's. The service is offered to those developers who want it.

Of the first party games so far Forza is the only one that has any real benefit of using them, the rest are mostly EA games who use their own severs or activison/infinity ward which will be crap no matter what servers they run on.

People getting hyped over information they mis-read.

lol. He was simply responding to the question, which was a vague question at best. He confirmed that the free azure services include dedicated servers.

So instead of three links all misinterpreting the question & answer, please point to somewhere MS states that every game will use the free services.. Thanks

Why wait.. Here is the statement that spawned the question.

I'm motarded Microsoft made a lot of noise about this cloud system and then only 1 game uses it? It wasn't claimed every game would use it but I'm sure it wasn't claimed only 1 game would use it.

It is like a magical power they are trying to promote as they know they have less power than their main rival on local hardware level. It is costly and not so useful due to latency, bandwidth and access limitations than local processing. Not only that, it is something that can be added in. The main useful function is dedicated servers which seems so far only one game is making use of their platform. It will be interesting to see how long dedicated servers is maintained for games as they become older too.
