Time Trial #54

Johhnypenso, just tried the tune and I love it! Managed a 1:20.404 ( roughly a 0.6 second improvement ), not an alien-time , I know, but it did put me in the top 1000 again :D

Never been much of a TT guy but this one appealed to me for various reasons so I thought I'd put some time into it. Any feedback on the tune, good or bad would be appreciated. This is where I ended up yesterday after about a 45 minute session. I will go at this again a couple of more times and update as I go if improvements are made.

Driving Notes

You'll have to feather the throttle at at various points of the track, including slower corners and anywhere where the car is off balance vertically or laterally. Key to good laps is getting the car into the straightest line possible, as soon as possible, exiting corners along with knowing the track and the points where the car is experiencing negative vertical g-forces and ensuring the car is heading straight when it does. In other words, you don't want to be rotating over a rise at DFR in this car. Often all it takes is a slight lift to maintain control for a split second, as in the right hander after exiting the last tunnel.

Good luck!!
Really nice setup, thanks 👍
Permited me to lower more that 1sec from the old lap I had. 1:21.3xx to 1.20.2xx and still making a lot of mistakes that kill a little of my time, yet I'll keep learning better the course and correct them ;)

Deadnuts even=numbnuts,sort of??

I'll give ya tune a go buddy 👍

I can't seem to get the power down on this undulating track with the stick.

Even stabbing the throttle(which usually cures the oversteer tendancies)isn't working consistently.

Can keep with the kwik guys in the 1st few sections, then lose it in the last few corners??any suggestions?

P.S.i don't really wanna resort to Active steer weirdness :yuck:

yes... 1:18.507
I have left the 1:19 club.

I am now 0.002 behind SAFFY and 0.028 in front of pmjg66.

So far the Z06 tune is coming together quite well. (dare i say it)
Its got a slight twitchiness which most of the time i can deal with, it would be hard to explain but its so slight i cant tell if its the front or the rear where the problem is. For now it can stay, i still have the diff to go over yet.

I don't know how you guys get under 1:20. The ghosts i tried to chase are amazing. I couldn't even get gold until today. And I couldn't get there until I added the wing. I used the Z06, and a lot of the tuning tips from this forum ( thanks!). I am still using auto tranny and button mashing, that is probably my challenge. But I made the top 20 k for now, and have the gold. Now for the second half.

Thank you Johnnypenso, for your generous tune which I am trying to load.
I cannot reach the gear ratios with this setup? Gear3 only goes up to 1.046, etc. Max speed setting is 286 or 292?
I limit to 83.4% with 587bhp @580PP
Can someone please tell me how to achieve these gear ratios?
Yes, I am resetting and changing in correct order.
Any help appreciated, Thanks:nervous:

No, its not a loaner. I prefer to run and tune my own cars.

Well you have an advantage being able to tune your own cars well. Of course this must be learnt and more power to those who have had the time/inclination to be able to do so as reading the posts here many, like myself, cannot do a very good job at it.

I noticed yesterday you have loaner cars on offer but not your ZO6 06 which you used for your best time.

Your above answer doesn't state whether you will put it on loan or not.
Today is the last day of the kids Xmas holidays so I am letting them have a good go at Transformers and so haven't checked whether you put your ZO6 up for loan yet, I'll see later on.

If you have thanks, if you haven't ......maybe you could let me know why.

Oh, and there is a simple reason why I haven't posted a faster time yet.

You guessed it, haven't managed one. So looking forward to trying Cargo's ZO6 if he puts it up.

Could be a silly question but does the active steering make such a difference?
Think I used it once and I didn't notice a big difference in handling.
Of course it could just be that I wasn't pushing the car hard enough

I have wondered about Active Steering myself and have tried it, albeit without noticing any benefits one way or another.

I presumed then that it was only a benefit for those with a wheel and of no benefit for those like myself using a hand controller (buttons).

Perhaps someone who uses a wheel could advise if this is the case, seeing as it was stated that the fastest blokes all use it.

Thank you Johnnypenso, for your generous tune which I am trying to load.

the car seems to not be broken in, since it's the values i got on a brand new car.

Thank you.
Also max speed setting of 290 seems high for DFR?

He may have meant 290km/h.........179mph.

Alternatively, sometimes having a very high top speed acts a bit like traction control.

That is what I have found anyway.

You need to change the rims like he has stated in his tune as that makes a difference in gear ratios. You have to set your car up exactly as he has meaning you need to add only the parts he has added and nothing more. All of those parts affect gear ratios as well as oil change which I believe he did not do. Follow his tune exactly and you should have no problem matching his gear ratios.

@Dalone: Relax about the car. I'll put it on share when I get a chance. You need to realize that there is no magical car or tune thats going to make you an instant superstar. In most cases, a good tune is only good for about .300 at the most. If you haven't got the talent, then you just simply haven't the talent. No tune is going to change that.

As Cargo says above, you have to use the same rims then follow the step by step for the transmission and you should have no problem getting there. The car is brand new, I think I mentioned no oil change in the tune. Not sure if it makes any difference that's just what I did.

Max speed is the speed before tuning the gears. 6th is all the way to the right so you should be kissing the redline on the front straight.

Looks good. Now I gotta buy the vette to test it with :d throttle control is horrible with ds3 r2 :/

Btw, where you in a shuffle race earlier? I think I raced you on Monaco and you where on a camaro. I was in 2nd playing it safe waiting for a chance to pass, clipped a wall then 1st place goes ghost and you pass never to be seen again.

Yes I have the rims and was careful to follow details. I will try again from scratch.
I will assume it is 290mph, not km
Also no Racing filters.
Thank you for taking the time to explain this.

I understand about making it redline at the end of the straight, which is what I usually aim for, so I just simply wound the Max speed down to 165mph and put in a 1:20.414, however, Traction control was on 6, so I will try with less TC.

The art of gearing the way you have suggested is still an enigma to me.:dopey:

Just want to give it a try Cargo and see how I go. I am sure the ZO6 is faster than the 09, at least it is when I used it, and maybe your tune suits my driving style, who knows.

Anyway thanks for that.

Sorry, it's km/h.

I tuned one Z06, better my time for half a second, 0.5 sec still possible.....
will put it on share after work (in about 10 hours)

wait, what do rims have to do with gearing

When you swap stock for custom rims in GT5 it changes the gear ratios in the transmission so it's possible that a transmission set up with custom rims may not be able to achieve the same set of gear ratios as one set up with stock rims. That's why I put the wheels in the tune.

That was me...Camaro sounds right. Shuffle is about all I do in the rare chance I go online these days...other than the odd time opening a no ABS room:tup:

Thanks mate, will certainly have a go with it then.

Meanwhile back at the ranch (station, here) I have had a few runs with Pmjg's loaner and am back to sub 500 (467) with 1:19.999.

And I'm sure there is more time to make up yet.

Thanks Pmjg, great tune. So far I haven't had to alter it at all, ha ha.

If you have thanks, if you haven't ......maybe you could let me know why.

The issue with sharing cars, is that once you put them on share, you can no longer use them yourself. So every car we let you drive, it means we can no longer personally drive it. So, try to understand, that it's rather inconvenient to 'share' cars. In rare cases I understand, but if it's a premium car, you can simply buy yourself, then it's a different story. If it's the tune you're after, ask him to post it, if he doesn't post it, it's because he doesn't want to give away his hard work/effort/time, which I can't fault anyone for when it comes to competitions such as these TT.

I use the view where you cannot see any of the car.

I also prefer to be able to clearly see the tacho and speedo.

The view from above the car shows more of the track etc but it's too far from the pointy end for me.

Hey guys just wanna know what view you all race in and why?

Same as Dalone. Front bumper view. Gives the clearest view and the best instrumentation and the rear view mirror!
For very winding or hilly tracks the roof view gives a bit more track visibility and I've used this sometimes, especially where there's a lot of traffic. It gives a bit more 'spacial awareness', but the change of perspective also changes your experience with the wheel/controller. Almost feels like a change in physics but of course it's not - it's just the difference between being in the middle of a turning object rather than at the front.

Found the thread you need:

Which view do YOU use for driving?

Where this kind of summed up the story:
I use bumper view for standards.
I use cockpit view for premiums.
I use chase view for drifting.
Then I use roof view for F10,F2007, and FGT.

Bumper when it matters - it's fastest
Cockpit for the realism if you can afford it - like A-spec races,
Roof for those special cars (including the Vettle) and those special tracks like Eifel,
Chase for drifting
and all 4 for the endurances to give yourself a break!

If me 'n you are gonna let the Rat whip us, it would be gentlemanly if we all declared our tunes too...don't you think D? I mean the guy lives in 'Motor City' and here are we at our respective edges of the planet. He's probably got all sorts of automotive pollution altering his DNA and his synapses. Come on Rat - show us your tunes if we're gonna bare our cheeks! (Pretty please? :dopey:)

Thanks guys just wanted to see who uses what ps I us the roof one ;-) roll on 7 I'm having withdrawal from my ps3 lol
