Time Trial #76: 550PP RWD Road Cars @ Spa Francorchamps

I was going to skip this one as I'm terrible at the last right left before the finish line but, I gave it try anyway last night.
I either brake too soon or too late entering or hit the strips on exit and spin. I can get it right to start a lap but I can't judge my braking with the extra speed.

The correct braking point [for me] is just a bit after the overhang, you can see the small spot of sunlight on the grass to your left, if you brake as you see the sunspot at the nose of the car it should line up nicely for the chicane.

After a very frustrating hour I managed a 2:32.462 with a great first two sections but, my usual awful last one.
I'll probably give it one more try before Friday and hopefully I can make a half way decent final section.

Great Time Trial
I found some cars which were significantly faster on the straight than the cars you guys are using, such as the RUF CTR YellowBird with a high-RPM Turbo... but oh dear when come the curves..

Just gotta get the right line! Takes a bit of practice but now I can do it almost every time! Also requires a few steering corrections as the car goes light on the exit 👍

noticed, I had been running a bit on my own before i checked out your replay... was posting 1:36's and just could not fathom how I was THAT slow. and then i watched your RP and you should have seen my jaw drop... Probably would never have even tried to go flat through O'rouge on my own.

Car setup and a good entry, basically. I cut the first apex, let off the gas slightly just after, then floor it the rest of the way up. Just a slight blip off the gas is all you need. After you do it a few times and get decent at it, it just becomes second nature, to me anyways. That's the easiest part of the course for me. Just keep at it and use a posted setup, you'll get it eventually.

Yeah, you should always check what the top guys are doing! 👍 I didn't realise it was possible to use that much of the road until I watched one of the fast replays!

Been alternating yours and Bandit's setup.. i seem to get a small boost each time i switch from one to the other xD

Thanks, I will have to look for that spot, for some reason I haven't found a good reference point for braking there. I love the flow of the first two sections and can stay within .4/.6 of the fastest ghosts going into the final section, then I loose confidence and drop over a second on the last.

Guess I'm again being a little too conservative. After watching yours and a few other replays, I see that the Red and White rumbles are not always out of bounds in some sections. Really hope PD is more consistant with their track boundaries in GT6.

Some rumbles seems to be oversensitive though. That final apex at Eau rouge has killed a few of my laps.

Thanks to Bandit's latest, now down to 2:35:5, adjusted LSD to 5/5/25. Cannot take Eau Rouge without braking using direction buttons unfortunately. I reckon there's still a bit of time to be had too but cannot string a decent full lap together :-(. Thanks all for sharing your tunes.

Did a run on sports hard tyres so I could get a calibration for the times cheaters were doing. So a 2:26.0 is probably a good time. Which means that it is a gain of around 4 seconds over the proper tyres for the event. So anyone who you see on these tyres you can add 4 seconds to their time in order to work out their relative position. This means for example that L_E_O_N_I_S's real position in the time trial is 155th place!

Yeah, I agree! I just wanted to see how easy it was to bend the rules, and it's very easy! Let's hope it isn't possible for GT6 otherwise I'll just be spending all my time doing offline time trials and seeing how fast I can make those new karts go!

So, you decided to prove a point on the actual leaderboard, apparently so you could just have the top spot. 👎 There was no real need for you to add a cheated time to a leaderboard already filled with hacked times just to prove a point that most of us already know. Well if I did the lap in practice it wouldn't be a fair test. The top spot is rightly mine anyway, I'm hoping PD will notice the time difference and delete all the cheated times from the leaderboard so that I do actually get the top spot which I've earned. It's worth a try, the leaderboard already has cheated times on it so it's not exactly like it affects that.
