TT #45: 550PP Italian Cars: Monza Circuit/400PP Mazda Raceway Laguna

Thanks for the loan of the car cargorat, got me to 28th at Laguna, very nicely setup :-D

Also, just a tip that works for me. Whan coming to the last left hander before the straight to the finish line, I get down shifted to 2nd going in then hit 3rd full throttle at or just a hair after apex. I have picked up a little over .100 just in that one corner alone by hitting it just right. Also, if you can take the right hander just before that in 5th gear keeping the revs up, you can pick up time there also. This is using my trans settings of course. Going to have another quick go. Tomorrow is grand daughter day so gotta get my time in now, lol. Peace and good luck everyone.

EDIT: Improved my time by about another .300. Now at 36th place with a time of 1:41.996. If I could get a good run on the corkscrew, I could gain some more time. Thats it for me tonight. Back at it tomorrow evening. Peace.

I was doing the last corner in 2nd, then started trying it the way you just mentioned. Trying your new and improved tune out now. I'm finding it harder to keep the back end from slipping out. I just moved the ballast to +5 and the LSD accel to 44. That seems to help. I'm probably turning too soon in the corners. I'm going to put some more laps in and change it back once I get more used to it.

I used Ferrari 458 Italia for the Monza 550pp time trial, the car originally had a wing installed, but the on the high speed track like Monza, it didn't help much. So I removed it, and did several laps, no ABS, no other aids, with stick controller, manual, my best time is : 1:56.610.

Top speed on the main straight before Variante del Rettifilo is 170/171 mph, on the back straight is 160/162 mph, before Variante Ascari is 159/160 mph, before Variante della Roggia is 150+ mph.

I have some slow section, with a better run 1:55.xxx is possible. I will list my tune below and some pictures of braking points for reference to both ABS & non ABS driver.

Okay, I hope the tune could help those who use the car and the braking reference could give hints to how late braking can be done.

Okay, anyone want to try the car, I have it on share, send FR to GTP_Orido, it wont compete with the Gallardo, but if you want gold with 458, this will do it easily.

If anyone needs a dirty oil GSX-R I've got one up for borrowing. 👍

I was just gonna post if anyone knows how many miles it takes to get the oil dirty, and roughly how much time it makes up on the lap.

Is your psn just your username in the forum, Id like to give your car a try. Im currently at 1'42.180 I think, could get about half a second if I nail the lap with my current car. But so many places to loose time.

Yes that is my PSN ID, I don't know how many miles it takes to get dirty oil because I got it from the marketplace.

When entering that last corner, I start off as wide as I can be, then turn in aiming for the apex. I round it off as much as I can, using as much of the curbs as I can.

@ Penelope: You're welcome. Glad it worked for you.

@Peasantslayer: Tried your car with my setup and it seemed to handle worse than my car. Probably due to you adding the chassis reinforcement or if you did not perform the chassis renewl after running all those miles. A combination of one or both of those will definately make a car handle differently. Gotta get ready foe grand-daughter visit. Peace.

Thanks for the loan of the car cargorat, got me to 28th at Laguna, very nicely setup :-D

28th uh? Just when I was starting to catch you. Looks like my generosity is coming back to bite me in the ass, lol. No worries, just makes me push that much harder.

EDIT: @ Peasantslayer: With dirty oil, your car only has 2 more HP than mine which, at a track like this, doesn't really amount to much. No real advantage in this case. Mine has more torque which could explain my better lap times with my car as opposed to when I tried yours with my exact tune.
@ krenkme: at 200 ballast, I don't understand why you have to power limit more than me if you didn't add any performance parts. Thanks for sharing and I'll give it a try later, but I was just wondering about that. Peace.

We would if you were not so popular and had room for a few more :-( lol

Sorry I don't understand you, my friends list isn't full is it? Multiple people can borrow the same car can't they?

That's odd, the Honda Beat is a similar car and that benefited from dirty oil at a recent time trial. IIRC Silex95 had clean oil at Daytona and he won that so perhaps clean oil is better in the GSX-R's case, I'll keep it up just incase people want to try.

Ive managed 1 min 48`088 with the with the toyota 86 GT `12 on laguna seca i should be able to get into the 47`s

Thanks cargo for the tune. I used it on Peasant's car and I got a 1:40.853 good enough for 5th at the moment. I think I can get in the .5 range but it will take some effort :)

Did you do an initial oil change then run it? From my past experience and testing cars with dirty oil, don't do an initial oil change and also, you really need to be around 15,000 miles before you get any substantial advantage in having dirty oil.

EDIT: @ doodle: You're welcome and congrats on the improvement. Like I said before regarding Peasantslayer's car, I think its the addition of the chassis reinforcement that he added thats throwing off the handling for me. That part really makes a difference in this car. Can be good or bad depending on your driving style or what you're used to.

Yes it's full and yes your entire friends list can use the car. Don't worry as I think I have peaked anyway ;-)

Ok, I've cleared out some people who haven't signed in for over a year if you still want to try.

I got it from the marketplace so I have no idea.

550bhp...
Step 1) Transmission put the final gear all to the right.
Step 2) Put the top speed all the way to the left / min speed
Step 3) insert the transmission number in each gear.
Step 4) adjust the final gear to the top speed of your car on the track
Cbastjan

Sorry to bother you but I can not get the gear ratio even following in his steps.

What parts have you been installed on the engine?, have you changed the oil in my car?

Thanks for responding 👍

The last tree shadow on the straight? Don't know anything about that, but I did see the gunman on the grassy knoll, lol.

Have you checked my pictures ?

Curve di Lesmo 1st right : Brake right on the last tree shadow on the straight ( right after the 2nd chicane, right when you are about to turn right, there's a tree shadow on the track surface )

If you drive on the track you would know by comparing my pictures :)

Just a question regarding some of the tunes here. I see people often increase the front ride height and lower the rear. Why so?
Doesnt increasing the Ride Height increase understeer? Always have had this confusion.

That is a taboo subject here on these forums. There are many threads on this subject, here is one.

If you want more information, search "ride height bug". Ironically, this may get fixed with the upcoming update. I don't like to force peoples opinion on this issue as everyone has their own beliefs/speculations, so just read the above link and go from there. Peace.
