Yes it certainly has. First Dan and now Marco... It's tragic. R.I.P. Marco. The nature of Moto GP motorcycle racing in general is different from F1, one can't be "concealed" within the vehicle in the same way as in a car. When commenting about Dan's crash, I read that Mark Webber said he feels safer on F1. I can understand him, if one compare how many drivers who have died in IRL/CART since 1994 (when the last driver died in F1 as we all know) then it's quite obvious that F1 has been more successful in creating a safer environment for the drivers than other motorsport series. The only things that can actually kill drivers in F1 nowadays are loose parts hitting the drivers in the head like tyres or parts (like what happened with Massa). I heard that FIA is conducting tests with closed cockpits, it wouldn't surprise me if F1 cars will look similar to the Red Bull X2010/X2011 in less than 10 years with closed cockpits and the tyres encapsuled.
Yeah, we must race more at Spa sometime jonzster! I raced a couple of SuperGT GT500 races today and yesterday and it was great. Spa is all about handling, MR cars like Honda NSX really have an advantage, they can change direction so fast. Spa really brings out the best of GT5's physics engine!
And btw, think I forgot to say, but big congrats to your win R35. You were incredibly quick, even in the latter stages on the race. You were simply the fastest in this race. 👍
Yeah I can see a X1 style F1 car with canopy in the future. I see they have introduced a Zylon strip across the top of the visor after finding a weakness in the design in the area where Massa took the impact from that spring.
Had a race with Sic at Spa last night which was great, I do love that track. sounds like I missed out on the V8's last night which sound like a lot of fun.
