VCRC vintage & low power :: Sunday 3pm GMT / 10am US EST

Yes I've been remiss.
đź‘Ž I've been overcooking it this week. :guilty: :guilty:

But I've updated Post #2

(all hail post #2 ;))

Also, it's your job @KingKlingeling to remind me to make the mandatory pit stop announcement in the lounge, and about the no last lap pit. đź‘Ť :sly: :)

Predictably I can't make it now (I know, right? What a surprise.) I have a family members birthday and lunch to attend. Sorry, perhaps one of these weeks I might actually make a race again.

Yep, birthday parties! :) đź‘Ť
Thanks for the heads up.
This is the nature of weekend racing schedules. Sometimes when it comes time, there's something going on.

Aw, I don't care much for pit stops lol. I like low power lightweight cars because of the lessened need for pit stops.

Still in though, looking forward to it!

But if everyone is forced to pit it really doesn't add strategy. Its not like we can alter how much fuel we start with or anything like that. Too bad we can't make driver changes.

The typical strategies like fuel load and tire choice aren't really in play but I still find some ways to use strategy when doing a pitstop race. The obvious one is whether you want fresher tires earlier or later. I might pit later if I want fresher tires for a battle at the end or I might pit early if I want fresh tires earlier in the race for making up ground or working through traffic.

Another strategy can be used if you feel the car in front is holding you up. You can make a stop and hope to re-enter to a clean track so you can lay down fast laps and hopefully overtake while the other driver is in the pits. If you can't get around them on the track, try to pass them in the pits.

Or there's the old man strategy: if the track is particularly demanding I try to pit right at halfway so I can give my arms/shoulders/legs a break and hopefully not be too sore at the end. :dunce:

These certainly aren't the most complex strategies but that's how I've always looked at "pit strategy" in these types of races and for me it adds a nice little something. But I also find that no matter what my pre-race strategy is, it's all out the window by lap 3.

A thought on how to add strategy. Not saying we consider it for this race but for example: I found a 2 sec per lap difference between CH and CM. If you required starting and finishing on CH but allowed a change to CM . . .?
@CC570 - I think you missed the discussion earlier in the thread about the glitch with the tire type changes??

I'd originally wanted to do exactly that - a tire change enforcement.
But with that glitch, it's a no-go. :( :(

Here's the thread about it in the Questions section of the forum:

This may help

Yeah I'll admit in the gordini race when I hit the pits, the options menu didnt come up and I was worried of not having enough gas to finish :nervous:

I am so lucky I guess, I have not experienced this glitch yet.
Sponsor change, I will now be sporting purple rims instead of stock.

I was having trouble keeping it on track, so I just did the right thing and excused myself before I caused a wreck.

i know i missed today, but i would be interested in running with you guys in the future. do i have to add someone to enter a "friend only room"

Yes, welcome!
And if you haven't added me as a friend, you need to before next Sunday:
PSN: wat3rm370n
the rooms are friends only.

And you reserve a spot before the next sunday.
The event details are not decided yet... I'm fielding suggestions! (in the low power & vintage scheme)

It's the same time every Sunday. 10am US EST / 3pm GMT

And great pics!! :)

Is it bad that I haven't even driven the car once yet? Or do everyone go in to these races all green?
I go in green all the time.
The only reason I have any practice at all to drive the car in advance is because I need to set the laps and test the track.
For example, in this case, last sunday after last sunday's race, we tested the car/track. I ran 2 5-lap races ... and was testing the pit. So not really practice.

I think in the case of these cars, sometimes practice would be too much.
For example, if I did 30 laps practice before the race :odd: I would probably be so sick :ill: & tired :indiff: that I wouldn't want to actually race. :sly: :odd:  ;) :odd:

Great pictures Wii!

Yeah I agree melon, I'm not much for practising.. I guess that's why I never really get any better either^^ (or very slowly). But the VCRC-races feels like they are mostly for fun so you don't need to practise that much ahead of them, maybe just get a feel for the car (the 15 minutes in the race lobby was enough for that..)
