2009 Singapore Grand Prix

BBC's fuel adjusted grid...

BBC
Taking that into account, BBC Sport's fuel-adjusted grid, with projected first pit stops, looks like this:

1 Lewis Hamilton (lap 17)
2 Nico Rosberg +0.553secs (lap 16)
3 Sebastian Vettel +0.617 (lap 14)
4 Mark Webber +1.023 (lap 15)
5 Rubens Barrichello +1.097 (lap 16)
6 Fernando Alonso +1.243 (lap 17)
7 Timo Glock +1.289 (lap 17)
8 Robert Kubica +1.511 (lap 19)
9 Nick Heidfeld +1.752 (lap 14)
10 Heikki Kovalainen +1.759 (lap 19)

This race looks to be in Hamilton's lap. Barrichello after everything is still 2 places ahead of Button, which might mean nothing if he's lighter than Button (or could be good if someone does a Piquet early in the race). On the other hand Barrichello had some amazing starts this year.

It's also a shame we didn't get to see people's true pace with Barrichello accident. So far my predictions look good with the exception of Ferrari.

Yes - but they could've got it done on the first lap - they had much less fuel than lewis - yet he put down the lap time...

They all had 1 shot - they didn't realise it - but they did - and Lewis put the best lap in - with a lot more fuel...

C.

This is a tough track to put together a good lap, so its fair to say their second laps could have been faster, maybe many of them made mistakes on their first run, maybe some of them needed to get their tyres worn in a bit more, how many times have we seen drivers set their fastest lap at the end of the session? Almost always.

I think some of them have possibly a faster pace than Hamilton but we will have to see tomorrow.

Wow, Heidfeldslower than Kubica and he has five more laps of fuel?

That shocks me, someone call a taxi for Heidfield

They were all on super soft - they all went in for fresh tyres...

Lewis may have had a fresh set for his first lap - due to his great Q1 lap time...

I still stand by the fact that Lewis deserves this pole - and the others were weak on their first effort.

C.

I bet Barrichello stuffed it to help Hamilton.
[/nonsense]

Here's the provisional grid
Code:
1. Lewis Hamilton, McLaren, 660.5kg
2. Sebastian Vettel, Red Bull, 651
3. Nico Rosberg, Williams, 657.5
4. Mark Webber, Red Bull, 654.5
5. Fernando Alonso, Renault, 658
6. Timo Glock, Toyota, 660.5
7. Nick Heidfeld, BMW Sauber, 650

I'm not denying their first effort was weak, I am saying that Hamilton's pole may not be entirely respresentative of his relative pace.
I'm just putting it in perspective, its not like everyone got two runs and they didn't beat Hamilton.

Anyway, I will be watching for Glock as he's on for grabbing some Toyota points finally.

I have to disagree - Lewis has been high on the time charts all weekend - he(and the car)'s quick here...

Judging by the weights - this is lewis' to lose... (or to be taken away be safety car)

C.

Indeed, Lewis is best placed but I think Rosberg could trump him in the race, that lap in Q2 was the best of the weekend. If we had had the "normal" Q3 and Lewis was P4 then I don't think you'd be so sure of his pace being so superior (though he would still be well placed especially with KERS).
Rosberg, the RBRs and the Brawns have also been fast all weekend till Q2/Q3, practice means little.

I won't disagree about Rosberg's Q2 lap - that was immense... as you say - best of the weekend - no doubt... It was so quick that I'm not sure he knew where it came from!!!

C.

Would have loved to have seen what they could have pulled out of the bag in the remaining 30 seconds of Q3. Excellent performance by Rosberg, after seeing his earlier lap I really thought he could take pole.

Isn't it such a coincidence that Rubens crashes just as Vetttel and Rosberg both go purple?

Why are you looking at the BBC result??? Go to F1 official website and Heidfeld is faster than Kubica... Go and check the result back before saying something like that mate!!

- Nick Heidfeld - 1'49.307s
- Robert Kubica - 1'49.514s

I think I should be the one who need to call a taxi for you :P

I mean, I think that crash was staged. Vettel, a title contender goes purple, and then BAM, Rubens, another title contender, ahead of Vettel, crashes so that Vettel, the title contender, will have his purple lap ruined, and so that Hamilton, a non-title contender, can keep pole and get in Vettel's way for the title. Or just a damn coincidence!

Yeah, because nobody learned from what happened. Everyone's risking a 5 year ban. Hell yeah. 👎

They like to live dangerously, you know... that's why they're F1 drivers.

I can see it now... Rubens calls Romain in his trailer... asking him "hey, can you stuff it in practice? Y'know, so when I do, there's a precedent... we'll just tell people it's a slippery track..."

It's a conspiracy, I tell you! All those drivers are in it!

You're kidding, right? :odd:

And both Hamilton and Barrichello are Mercedes powered one one one eleven.

Really? You don't think that perhaps Rubens would try for pole so he'd start 5th, 7 places ahead of Button and instead decides crash so he qualifies 5th and starts 10th, only 2 places ahead of Button. Given Rubens ability to get off the grid at the start of a race, I'd say Button will be ahead of him by turn one.

Rubens fight is with Button. Not with either Red Bull Driver. Nothing Vettel or Webber do matters at all to either Brawn driver as long as they can continue to pick up enough points, and you can't do that by deliberately crashing. :dunce:

He was looking at the "fuel adjusted" grid... not the actual times...

Sorry mate... He was looking at the ''fuel adjusted'' grid... But he shouldn't said that Heidfeld is slower than Kubica... Heidfeld is faster than Kubica...

I need to get a taxi for him... I know that Kubica has 5 more laps of fuel but Heidfeld is faster than Kubica technically..

Sorry mate but I don't think so... He was looking at the time on the ''fuel adjusted grid''... It also stated there that Heidfeld is slower than Kubica but actually Heidfeld is faster than Kubica (Including interval times from the leader)... So how can you say that Heidfeld is slower than Kubica???

BBC says that fuel adjusted - Heidfeld is slower...

BBC fuel adjusted grid
8 Robert Kubica +1.511 (lap 19)
9 Nick Heidfeld +1.752 (lap 14)

This is the *actual* grid positions (they get moved up one because of Rubens)

Formula1 (non adjusted but with weights...)
7. Nick Heidfeld, BMW Sauber, 650
8. Robert Kubica, BMW Sauber, 664

But I agree - his comment is a bit confusing!

Yups... Just edited my post up there... But nevermind... Technically, Heidfeld is faster than Kubica... No matter if they arranged it all back for the fuel adjusted grid, Heidfeld is still faster...

I think you miss the point of fuel-adjusting. On pure pace Heidfeld was slower because Kubica managed a time only 2 tenths off but with more fuel. The idea is that if they had the same fuel, Kubica would be faster.

Yeah I got it... Sorry guys I missed the main point of the ''fuel adjusted'' grid... Now I got what you're saying... Sorry but Ian should made his post more understandable for those whose english is not their main language... Simply got confused when reading that and straight pointing him that he's saying Heidfeld is slower than Kubica in anyway...

We have to wait for the race to see who's the quickest between the BMW duo..

It's immaterial now anyway - Heidfeld starts from the pits...

Apparently his car was underweight... so to make the best of a bad situation - they slipped a new engine and gearbox in as well!!!

Owh gosh!!! It has turn from bad to... still bad despite a new engine and gearbox!!

So what's his fuel load now???
