2013 Formula 1 United States Grand Prix

I think the abu dhabi commentator fell asleep for a bit there, can't blame him.

damn it tilke won't you be involved in creating something exciting for once.

"Lewis, box-box, box-box-box."

That's code for: "This is hopeless, why don't you come into the pits so we can discuss our race strategy and have a spot of tea."

F1 overtaking is a bit artificial for my taste nowadays... Build a slow entry, add a long straight and breeze past with a DRS-KERS section. It's the same everywhere from the US to India to some future antartica GP for the pinguin market.

Afterwards resume train formation for the rest of the lap...

You say that but it's funny that the man in your avatar ran in an era when he drove a car with a boost adjustment system and button to pass and run faster than an opponent.

I don't disagree that the racing is somewhat artificial in nature, but F1 has for a long time now had a gimmick to make racing exciting but the sacrifice with that was that you make it more artificial.

Without restrictions, it would be impossible to pass at all in Formula One. The cars are just too fast, the cornering speeds are too high, and the rubbered-up lines are just too narrow.

Is it just me, or are the cars sliding all over the place, much more than normal?

Cracking pit for Ferrari. 2.4 seconds. And that puts Fernando out just hair ahead of Perez.

Holy cow 2.3 for Webber

I find it sad that we are more interested in how fast the pit stops are than the race itself.

I don't know about you, but I'm more interested in whose girlfriend the race director will show next.

Red Bull to Vettel: "Vettel, SLOW DOWN." (or at least that's what I think "they have more rubber than you" means)

Nico finally past Kovalainen.

Whee! He might actually get tenth place. Or not.

Boost button < KERS + DRS + circuits with purposed build overtaking straights ;)

Also back in those days with far less aerodynamic grip and steel brakes, overtaking depended a bit more on driver skills.

 I'm just curious if that last one in the FI booth is Di Resta's gf, because last time I recall he had a red head as his girl with freckles and they were like school sweethearts or something.

Explain the more than half that proceed KERS and DRS...

Boring race. Ditto for the track itself, much asphalt with lines and colors drawn onto it, dull scenery too. What about a forested track with winding roads and a good deal of elevation changes mr. Tilke? Might be nice for some variety..

I just fell off the edge of my seat.

I do kinda feel sort of happy that the Sauber and Williams have found some speed even if it is the end of the season.

Oh, look. Nico overtook Di Resta.

Bless you, Nico, was starting to nod off, there.

Trees are nice to look at. Not nice to crash into.

What this track needs is more heat or longer straights with deeper braking areas. That single spot where Nico keeps overtaking is the only bright point.

Nice move from Bottas!

EDIT: Nice cut to his girl from the race director. Bravo!

I'm lost here :)

What's so confusing more than half the tracks they currently race on were built way before the DRS and KERS came into play. It suggest that they are just passing gimmicks (drs for example) and not purpose built ideas that everything was built around as your comment seemed to suggest.

Gearbox problem for Webber?

And as I post that he sets the fastest lap.

I was a bout to hate the messenger
