According to Twitter, on this day in 2014, Matt Crafton won his second Trucks championship.

Did any of you see "NASCAR Throwback" on NBCSN tonight? Like I said previously, NASCAR is different without Jeff Gordon as an active contender. It will be even more unusual without Tony Stewart. What I grew to respect about Tony Stewart was his ability to say whatever he wants even if it costs him monetary fines or whatever. He also can drive the wheels off of a car and win. Just like any sport, you have to grow and evolve. We have a new generation of NASCAR talent across all levels of NASCAR. And because of this, new stars and future legends will emerge.

So it's all come down to this weekend, huh? Champions to be crowned. The Miami area may be the 305, but the real number this weekend will be 1- as in whom is number one in Trucks, in Xfinity, and in Cup respectively. The Championship races this weekend:

* TRUCKS: Johnny Sauter vs. Timothy Peters vs. Matt Crafton vs. Christopher Bell
* XFINITY: Erik Jones vs. Daniel Suarez vs. Justin Allgaier vs. Elliott Sadler
* CUP: Jimmie Johnson vs. Carl Edwards vs. Joey Logano vs. Kyle Busch

Who'll be champs after this final weekend of NASCAR in 2016? We shall see. Or of course... you can always call the champs in each of the respective top Touring Series. So go ahead- call a winner or two to win the respective championships. Anyone?

(Of course, fix anything I screwed up. And my apologies for any misinformation)

I'll take Sauter and Suarez, but in Cup? JJ can do it, Carl should be able to, Logano's no slouch, and Kyle did it last year. I hath no clue, so as he's the only one I didn't call after 'Dega (3-for-4, WTF?), Why not Logano?

Going back to Indy from a few pages back, it's really a shame at this point. Back when ESPN released market shares every week, the Indianapolis area was almost always the only non-southeast market in the top five. NASCAR has rewarded the loyal fans from that area by taking away two very popular races in the XFINITY and Truck Series events at IRP and making it to where the only two NASCAR races of the season within driving distance also happen to be the most boring of the season

Agreed. IRP was a great track, its a shame they dumped it.

Johnny Sauter - Trucks
Daniel Suarez - Xfinity
Jimmie Johnson - Cup

Nope, it's in effect now. No KB in either trucks or xfinity. Happy day.

Oh...well that's good. The race will actually be interesting. (no offense KB but beating the freshman isn't exactly a show) 👍

Problem is, both Larson and Dillon aren't Sprint cup drivers with 5 years or more of experience. So guess who might show up.

BTW even with the rules in place, That still leaves effectively 15 races that Cup teams can simply alter their cup drivers around. Hooray for NASCAR not ever hearing about loopholes.

So yeah, cuppiewinslol

Cup drivers dropping down to the Busch, Nationwide, and Xfinity Series has been happening since the Series started. There`s a few major differences between now and before. Cup drivers that dropped down usually ran their own equipment or signed on with a full time Xfinity team. Teams like Joe Gibbs and Penske never dumped huge amounts of money and effort into the lower tier series. Now their Xfinity equipment is top of the line and it has pushed out smaller teams in the Series. The other major factor is sponsorship. These big time sponsors wouldn`t be signing on if cup drivers didn`t have their presence in those cars. Discount Tire isn`t paying for a full time Xfinity driver entry, they want Brad and Joey. Do you think NOS sponsors Tift if Busch isn`t in the 18? Cup guys don`t even drop down to the trucks series and there feeling the hurt from sponsorship. The truck series use to be one of the most competitive fields out there from team to team. Now you have 4-5 teams and then theres a massive fall off. Racing in general is just not bringing in the sponsorship they use too.

In fairness to the 18 this year, Kyle wasn't even supposed to run the amount of races he did but it ended up happening because of the Tumor with Matt so not only was he running his scheduled races, he was also filling in for Matt as well.

INB4 it's a throwback to this
