So, Skaife says there's no better place in Australia to watch a Supercars race, than watching from the top spot at Townsville. It's also the best street circuit.

Thought he said all this at Newcastle... and Bathurst... and...
The best race is [insert marquee event here].

Not really surprised but Craig Lowndes is retiring from full time driving at the end of this season. It will be the end of a truly great career :(

edit: He'll still be racing (but he doesn't know what yet), part time commentating on the series and the least surprising... He'll be co-driving for the enduro's (for 888 :yuck:).

Source: He just announced it on the Fox Sport coverage.

I’m in mourning :(

You and every other true Australian motorsport fan (myself included).

Hope he does a few guest drives in this (but with 05 on it)

Newcastle is going to be silly with trying to get his autograph and photos with him. Not to mention, Bathurst will be a riot, seeing out his last appearance as a full timer. I wouldn't be surprised if attendances go up in these final races.

Edit: Simona in the 888?

Bit of a surprise actually given how well he's been going this season, compared to last. Thought for sure that he'd at least stick around until his contract runs out next year.

Guessing he'll be co-driving with Whincup for the next few years?

Anyone else reckon it was a push from Roland rather than a jump
I'm just trying to figure out him spitting out three or four cars.
1. Where's he getting the fourth REC?
2. Who does he have in his sights for the 888 and car #XXX?
3. No way is Giz going to get Lowndes as a CO. Dumbrell is out- Maybe to run with Simona :sly: or Jacobson(?) in the Enduros.

Did Campbell say he was no longer interested or something for Enduro races? As for the 888, Pye doesn't seem too far fetched depending on contract.

That Enduro drive, was due to the prospect of RBHRT running the V6. He wanted to do the wildcard.

Pye supposedly is in a "long term" contract with WAU. I thought it was done end of next year. However, I remember Roland Dane did manage him, up until or during his stint at DJR(pre-Ambrose).

Campbell has already raced with T8 in the Enduros nothing indicates that just because the V6 is gone it still isn't on. Unless something has been said that I've missed. And yes I know SVG is driving with Bamber.

And yes Pye has history with Dane which is why it is being said that he is a viable choice.

Yeah, I'm sure he signed a three year deal with Walkinshaw. Think both Pye and Courtney's deals are up next year.

That drivers parade. :bowdown::eek:

Edit: How about Lowndes signing that banner on the T-BIRD? $$$$$$

Nissan 1, 3 in S2. Can't see Caruso coming thru from the back, but Maybe Rick and Andre can move up.

Hmmm... Might turn this one off.

Is it bad that I'm looking at the front end of some of the Falcons and thinking "Mustang"? They do kinda share some visual similarities, especially from the front...

I’ve never been a huge fan of Townsville tbh. Looks like a very fun hot lap track, but hasn’t really produced the most exciting races, can’t really remember any huge moments in its 10 years.

Only real exciting moments I can recall are when cars on fresher rubber have been tearing through the field late in the race. As much as I like the track, it'd be a pretty boring place if it wasn't for the high tyre degradation

Safe to say at least one Nissan will consistently be in the top five of six for the rest of the year. Shame it can't be three, but I guess R.Kelly is driving at his best ever.

Edit: Good job by Simona to jump up to 12th and finish up just behind Slade in 16th. Nice.

Better stuff from WAU today with both cars in the shootout. Hopefully they can get a solid race result.

Speaking of which, Pye did good.

Interesting to the different info displays. Percat has the shift lights on the steering column peeking over the steering wheel. Pye has his shift lights in the display. Lowndes as well.
