Even if Autobarn went back to the '08 livery it would be better than nothing.

That's still one of my all time favourite modern day liveries. Got the 1:18 model of it sitting on my desk.

Got to imagine though that they'll do something special for Lowndes at the Newcastle finale.

New sponsor for Tekno for the eunduro races and Newcastle.

Ahh yes I didn't pick up on that. At least from an angle its not so noticeable.
Still its better than a mix of chrome and advertising.

Saved that pic and the livery is going on both my Fords in GT Sport. That's fire!

And they painted the wheels. I'm hyped.

Just saw the images on Speedcafe of them testing with no gold rims in sight. Boo.

I’m getting so 🤬 fed up with teams showing promotional pics of a new livery, complete with coloured rims only to revert to the ‘same as usual & every other mother 🤬‘ silver.

If there’s some Supercar law in place that says no colours, then stop pissing on our heads & telling us it’s rain. Admit it & stop giving us false hope.
We’re mostly intelligent supporters of our teams/our chosen sport & we deserve better :irked:

I’d say it’s mostly a cost saving thing. Think of all the sets of wheels that would need to be painted just for one event and then either not used again or repainted silver to be used again.
The cost would easily be covered by all the retro round merchandise they sell.

Some punters just can’t resist a special retro round, limited edition golf umbrella for $99.95

Madness.

Love to know how much teams make off of merchandise for the year. Some of it, like the umbrella you mentioned is bloody expensive. A hoodie, polo shirt, two caps and two 1/64 model cars, set me back close to $300 at the HRT tent at Bathurst back in 2016. :ouch:

I was on the merchandise train when Brock was active.

I felt compelled to ride in First Class after his split with Holden, buying whatever Brock branded merch I could afford. I even bought the plastic ruler & playing cards! Had to pass on the pencil case though :embarrassed:

It's a different world & the population involved is much larger but, a mate was telling me the Juventis (spelling?) supporters paid for Ronaldo's astronomical transfer with polo shirt purchases in a weekend. Polo shirts

Definitely this. Ryan Walkinshaw mentioned that about running with the red wheels. Would have cost too much to repaint them white.

Speaking of retro merch. *insert take my money meme*

One thing I don’t like about it is how much of an angle the Shell logo and Number box is. It’s not in line with the window, and it’s not in line with the bottom of the car. But apart from it looks good.

It's been standard fair since the AU era. Weird the liveries were horizontal with the numbers before then. I guess to get as much sponsorship on the sides.
I actually prefer the numbers on the sides, than the windows.

Never heard of a Brock pencil case or ruler before. They put in his face or name on anything.

But yeah, sort of the same reason why I got as much HRT merch as I could at Bathurst. Wanted to get some proper HRT stuff before the named was moved over to T8.

Some of those european football clubs. $100 million+ would be spare change for them. :boggled:

The pencil case & ruler had Mobil 1 Racing the team colours & his autograph on it.
