Try telling that to some of the idiots on Supercars social media

In the replay you see these things happen, in this order:
Right rear tyre changer puts wheel on hub.
Right rear tyre changer tries to do up nut.
Shane engages first, and the improperly attached wheel rotates briefly (this is permitted per the rules).
Right rear tyre changer has a second go at nut and gets it on.
Shane gives it gas, and the wheels start rotating again while the car is dropped. This is a pit infringement according to the rulebook.

IIIIIIIII know what they're doing. They'll wait til Giz is about cross the finish line at Newcastle. Then, hand out a drive thru penalty. I'm on to them. ;)

At this rate we probably won't hear about it until Adelaide next year.

They were quick to give Stanaway the drive thru. Funny, even the tattle-tale commentator felt it was taking too long. Crompton stayed quiet. He's usually the one that remains neutral.

I think young Richie could be a few dollars lighter after his no-holds-bar thoughts on that situation.

And they're quick to give most other teams a penalty, T8 are the exception. I can feel another one of those three place grid penalties for SVG in tomorrows race coming :ill:.... but for Supercars credibility I really hope I'm wrong.

Yes. That too. The Supreme Court hearing, after the Whincup three way crash at Bathurst, was a crazy attempt to (try to )overturn a decision. This one is even scarier. Waiting this long to rule an outcome, is cliche farcicle.

SVG cleared, DJRTP protesting.

A post-race investigation held on Saturday evening deemed the rear wheels did not complete a full rotation before the car hit the ground.

A single rotation is used as the threshold as to whether the wheelspin is within or beyond the permitted tolerance.

Deputy Race Director Michael Masi’s findings explained:

“Following a review of the Broadcast footage from a number of angles and Supercars data from Car #97, it was observed that the rear wheels of Car #97 did not complete in excess of a full revolution.

“Consistent with previous determinations of the DRD, when investigating if a breach of Rule D11.8.8 has occurred, the rear wheels must complete in excess of one full revolution for the imposition of a penalty to be recommended to the Stewards.

“As this did not occur the matter does not warrant being referred to the Stewards.”

I refer to D11.8.8:
11.8.8 During any Pit Stop, from the time the Car leaves the ground until it returns to the ground, it is not permitted to have the clutch engagedso as to cause the rear wheels to rotate unless prior approval is given by the S&TD.

11.8.8.1 Where the S&TD grants such approval, the wheels must stop rotating prior to the Car being lowered to the ground. For the sake of clarity, the wheels must not be rotating while the Car is being lowered to the ground.

11.8.8.2 A slight movement of the rear wheels indicating the engagement of a gear will not, at the sole discretion of the S&TD, constitute the rear wheels rotating.
Nothing in the sporting directives cited by Masi mentions a full rotation.

Okay, we all know the RBHRT strategy was better and DJRTP admitted the#17 car set up, was aggressive(burning up tyres), but this is dead wrong.

Supercars had the opportunity to at least partially shake the perceived T8 bias, but they fluffed it. Well done.

I also find it hilarious that Masi said they ruled consistently with previous DRD findings, but we all know that Supercars penalties are about as inconsistent as they come.

T8 can even say that's in the rules, because it's actually not in the rules.

DEVELOPING: As a result of the DJRTP protest being lodged, the results from Race 28 remain provisional. Speedcafe.com understands that a hearing will be held tomorrow….click here for more

If SVG gets off I'd love to see Erebus protest Reynold's penalty at Bathurst. Seems it's all fair game now.
but we all know that Supercars penalties are about as inconsistent as they come.

The only thing the people who run this series are in consistent in, is being consistently inconsistent.

As Skaife pointed out, they should have explained why Reynolds didn't get that half spin penalty. Then, everyone would have had more info on a non penalty.

Stanaway in the Shootout.

Hmmm, should have been an open and shut case, dealt with during the race. But now it's just a mess.
Well and truly. It should not have been a post-race investigation. The evidence was right there in front of them, and they thought it was too hard to make a decision during the race. How weak.

They were all too happy to slap 17 with championship-implicating penalties only a couple of laps after incidents at Newcastle last year, they could've been consistent with their application of championship-affecting penalties this weekend but nooo

All five Kiwis in the shootout. Get in there!

I still don't understand how the first no.9 incident is the same (the one 888 reported to the officials). With the no.9 incident the wheels weren't rotating when the car dropped, SVG's were rotating.

I think the 97 is conserving fuel eh, nevermind
It's a mandatory fuel drop.

Come on, Frosty. Help the Ford's one last time. Hold up 97.
