Adjusting FOV/Camera using the Multi-screen options

Bullcrap.

No. They won't ban you unless you use the name changer function when going in lobbies or enter modded cars in time & drift trials.

And if the unlike occasion should happen that you get banned anyway just google for tools to reassign your save to a new account on your PS3.

This. 100% correct

So, you get the secret menu and change the options available in the multi-screen menu?

Then, you can just follow the settings in the OP?

I've gone for X axis and 100, it's fine for me that way. But I can confirm it doesn't work on tracks from course maker, doesn't matter if it's a new or an old one.

Never crossed my mind to do this. I always hated the interior view on all the Lamborghini's (minus the Miura), and it looks like this'll fix it.

I tried it with the FOV set to 90 and it provided a decent improvement, though I couldn't enjoy long it since my laser needs to be replaced. I think somewhere between 94-100 would be best.

Kudos for finding this - it will certainly bring me back to GT5.

I did it, set my FoV to 70%, in wide it gives a much more immersive cockpit view, in Zoom it is better than the DEFAULT wide and in Extra Zoom, it's just like the default game set to wide.

I'm fine with the Miura, Gallardo and Aventador cockpit, however I think PD really screwed up all cameras on the Murciélago. The hood one I'd usually use if cockpit is bad is awkward and the 3rd person one is terrible like it is for all cars, far too bland, makes it feel like the track moves around the car and not the other way around. So I'm only left with bumper cam but that one has the worst sound of them all. :indiff:

There are three reasons why the cockpit view in the Murciélago feels awkward, the camera sits way too close to the wheel, it needs to be moved back; it's too deep; and the worst thing (for me) is that it's not looking straight. Just look at the gauges in relation to the steering wheel :yuck: I guess I can't fix that last annoyance with these settings either?

Very true the Murciélago is really messed up, such as many others too.
We should really adress to PD that we need an option for adjustable camera views. It can't be hard to put.

Anyone know how to adjust this to the point where the hood view looks almost like the High End Performance G37?

I know that the multi screen setup thing has gone now, but did anyone do a comparison between the settings on that to figure out what the standard FOV values are? I can't seem to find what the FOV values are in degrees for normal, narrow and extra narrow. If anyone knows it would be appreciated :)

I think standard FOV adjustments are 100, 75, 50 for the wide, zoom and extra zoom settings respectively.

Thanks very much. I've recently tried out a FOV calculator and wanted to try the FOV closest to the result given. However I have a feeling I'm going to find it too narrow, but I'm willing to give it a try.

There is a calculator for it?

I had asked a while ago, but I guess no one had seen my post.

Does anyone know how to adjust it, or have any settings I can try. I have tried to set up, but can't get it right. I always end up making it too far or too close.

You just need to use a triangle calculator to figure out the correct FOV. However the only way to adjust it (other than the normal, zoom and extra zoom settings in the options) was the multiscreen setup menu. Unfortunately it was removed in an update (I have no idea why), however there is a work around mentioned earlier in this thread but I haven't tried it.

Bare in mind that in this scenario the monitor acts as a window to the virtual world. If like me you have a modestly sized screen, your view to the virtual world can be quite small.

Anyways, here is a link which explains how to use the calculator with links to one you can use :)

PS: If anyone intends to use this with ISI titles, they use a horizontal FOV so you will have to enter monitor height instead of width.

Thanks a lot man. Yeah I can use it, I have the secret menu enabled so I can switch views in watch race.

I really appreciate it. Thanks again.

I'd like to point out that since writing that guide, I found on the GT website that the default horizontal FoV is 82° (I've edited the guide to reflect this). So if anyone decides to use that guide, or just wants to know what the default FoV is, 82° horizontal/52° vertical are the defaults. :)

Do you know what the zoom and extra zoom FOV's are? Why PD didn't use degrees is completely beyond me. And the fact that they didn't include proper FOV adjustability for single screen is just plain stupid.

Used the secret menu to unlock the extra options, found a good settings for cockpit view, on cars with close camera position - '88 Supra and Maserati GranTurismo S, I can see large portion of side mirror, on cars with camera further back like NSX Type R, R33 GTR, side mirror can be viewed entirely. The R33 GTR cockpit camera sits a lot further back than most cars. The chase cam toy car effect is minimum, no graphical glitch on rear view mirror, and barely any fish eye effect too :D

Can anyone tell me which car has the closest cockpit cam and which has the furthest back on default setting ?

Closest one, Easily the Murcielago, both versions and furthest back has to be the E92 M3. the Petronas Lexus SC430 Super GT car is pretty far back too.

Thanks, I'll give them a try.

Works in latest GT5 version 2.14, secret menu access required - I enabled secret menu after the update to 2.14.

The view angle do not work at course maker tracks ( tested at Toscana ) :( but works on all other tracks.

I use 100% screen angle ( default value for wide ), angle of screen curvature 0 degree, layout 3x1, monitor no 2, 16x9 aspect ratio enabled ( can be disabled - unchecked ), viewing angle Y at between 60 to 65 ( try both, see which one you like or any between ) - 65 makes it sits further back, the lower the value - the closer the cam. Enable temporal aliasing : on ( not sure if it helps with frame rate - the graphics looks the same to me )

Give these a try, I like it so far. For a good laugh, try 301 for view angle Y - the car will be in very awkward position

Also found a good settings for TV speakers audio or HDMI AVR surround on GT5 - select HDMI in XMB, tick 5.1 or 7.1 LPCM 192 KHz, in the game, go to audio options, select living room or small theatre, choose 4.1 Surround ( will make sound audible on stereo TV - somehow GT5 will allow output pseudo 4.1 on stereo ). Large theatre will make the sound mix too extreme.

Use Headphone, HDMI passthrough AV receiver or if your TV speakers are big, crank the volume - cockpit view engine sound will be lower than tires noises, but the rear view will give loud engine sounds :D I hear more variation in tire noises volume too, when nearing the limit, on the limit and when over the limit - they are more pronounced ( good for those who depend on the tire noise )

Hood cam sounds okay, chase cam is epic:drool:. The great thing about the 4.1 on LCPM 5.1 is when racing with other cars, now the other car sound will sound more life like, you can still hear yours and theirs will be awesome - heard a Ford GT and Lexus LFA next / in front of me:dunce: - works like a charm on chase and hood - cockpit view will need volume boost - beware when changing cam.

Yes, this little trick changes the game completely, the sense of speed is improved across the board, only minor issues are the fish eye effect and the car being a bit too small in chase cam, I've settled at 65, going higher than that will look really good but very unrealistic, I also found that even the Standard cockpit views become more inmersive with this.

On some cars like HSV Weider, the side view mirror is still partially blocked even with 65 :( Murcielago still have the side mirror non visible, even at closer to 65, I guess the seating position is the cause. I used 62/63 at the moment as I don't want the chase cam car looks tiny and better front visibility in cockpit. :)

I know you posted this a while ago but I've been busy. You say about the "fish eye effect" being an issue. It is however a by-product of an increased FOV so strictly speaking cannot be called an issue.

I took some pictures of my custom FOV, not very good quality, but you get the idea :)

Just to clarify things, I looked at my settings again, turns out I made some little changes, the pictures above and the McLaren uses 97% on adjust angle of view and Y viewing angle of 65.

Awesome. I sent you a PM with a few questions. If you could let me know about that, I would greatly appreciate it.

Can someone please try this with the McLaren F1? I want to see how it looks with a wide FOV.

I might just do that :) BTW, all the pictures above are on wide FOV and using the settings I posted above.

Do I have to do the secret menu thing? I don't know how to do it and we aren't allowed to talk about how to do it, right?

Check your PM, and here is the McLaren F1 with adjusted FOV on wide :
