Anybody out there following the Grand Am?

I spent the majority of my weekend at the track (With a 101 degree fever :grumpy:). Nonetheless I made the best of what was, and overall it was a pretty good race. I also racked up a good many pictures and much film for my youtube short. :) Good job to the Action Express boys and Corvette.

Same, except the video part.. Lots of pics though, fantastic weekend.

Did you check out the GT5 sims at the Nissan both? I had never played GT5 on one of those before, and I thought it was pretty cool.

For those that missed it, Speed will re-air all six Hours of the race in about 49 minutes.

What!? Damn...

What!? Damn...

Yeah, they were in the Nissan tent up on a stage behind the red GT-R and Z Convertible. They were a bit hard to see from the main walkway.

The official Grand-Am website always posts the full live race replays on their website a day or two after the race as well. :D

I only saw the Nissan booth later too so I didn't have a chance to play it....but I spent most of the race walking around (covered nearly the entire thing, inside and outside), I'm hoping that means I will have some shots to show as I took a lot! Was a good time though, I enjoyed the race and the track. Also, it's a really nice area (I stayed in Ithaca, on a neighbouring lake) I might show a shot or two from there too because it's such a pretty place.

I'd love to see them. I still have to get mine developed (What a concept).

The lake you're referring to would be Cayuga. You probably weren't far from Cornell University either (The one on the hill).

I shall work on them...soon. Perhaps a few today, but I'm quite tired and out of it - didn't sleep well. I also have other shots to work on still.

Oh I know what the lake was called, I had to look at enough maps to get there. :P Just didn't think it was necessary. And the University was a bit across town from where I was, but it certainly takes up quite a bit of the town though.

Since I didn't post in right thread I will here. I'm headed to Rolex 24 2013 and just recently started slowly getting into the series. Any help about how things work down there as far as autographs, where best spots to watch, merchandise from teams? I will be camping in 2 day yellow on inner turn (row 3, spot 200 something).

The one thing that wasn't super clear was if I need to buy garage passes or do they come with the camping package we got (it said sprint zone, general admission, garage, and something else). Another thing I want to do is a time lapse of the race from where we camp to a degree, but I'm worried about someone stealing my GoPro even if I mount it to top of my SUV, anyone have an idea?

I just found this on Grand Am's Facebook page and was reminded of how awesome that start was.

Hey, not to be outdone... congratulations to Stevenson Motorsport for winning in GT at the Six Hours at the Glen.

I didn't really get into racing until about 1998. Maybe the 6 Hr. race at the Glen isn't Daytona, Sebring, Petit Le Mans, or even Le Mans; but do you still think the Six Hours at the Glen is a big deal? I'm not knocking the race or anything. But do you still think the 6 Hours at the Glen is still a great endurance race?

Steve Wallace is going to be in the Indianapolis round in the GS class in the #08 Porsche.

This can only be bad for the rest of the field.

I would agree with that, but I also had the same thought when he raced in Nationwide at Richmond this year, only to be surprisingly proven wrong(finished top 15 I believe with no marks on the car). Hell's frozen over before.

Meh, if Vickers managed to last 24 Hours at Le Mans, I think Steven can handle 3 at Indy.

Vickers did try to blow the brakes up though...

They finished the race and managed to not take out any LMPs, that's good enough :D

Steven's done alright in the races he's been in this year, I think he'll be fine.

Lotus announces its plan to enter the Evora in the new GT GX class for 2013! Happily, we won't even have to wait until 2013 as they already plan to run it this year under the current GT rules.

With ALMS, ELMS, GT1, and GT3 heading down the tube, it's great to see Grand-Am keep growing in popularity, size, and scope. :D

EDIT: And here's the first look:

Hoping to see some british racing green paint and a couple of yellow stripes on it. :D

I bet it will end up being the John Player Special colors we've been seeing from Lotus.

And I dont know where Lotus keeps finding all of this money...

Crazy, isn't it? Although it won't be run directly by Lotus, but only sold to teams who want to run it.

Hopefully it won't be like Alex Job's situation in the ALMS. Lotus promised factory support and a brand new Evora GT, both of which he never received...

Given ALMS's current finical status, I would imagine Lotus will attempt to be a bit more loyal to Grand-Am teams since Lotus knows money won't be as big of an issue with them. Lotus also knows that Grand-Am is a growing sport that is also highly competitive (Even more so than the GT ranks of ALMS). In ALMS, Lotus held up the rear of the GT field, but start up teams in Grand-Am such as the APR R8s and FXDD Ferrari are mid pack contenders (Heck, FXDD have already won three races this year). This is where Lotus sees much more potential then.

FXDD Ferrari are mid pack contenders? Last I looked they are leading the series!

Exactly how they are "Mid-pack" Contenders when they are the ones everyone is chasing?

Okay, I suppose the R8 is more representative of that position much more so than the Ferrari, but, nonetheless, you get my point. Lotus has much to look forward to.
