I am willing to attend the 4hr race in Febuary. Will the recent lap time that I ran with Knukken and i-was-ere count as my qualifying time?

I'll get online on laptop today and update the thread, I've been busy with work and, ahem, a lovely young lass but I'm back up and running now.

Practice this week at Sunday 8am Aus central daylight savings time.

All Qual times must me made during the practice races on Sundays so make sure you're all there if possible!

Thanks for confirming that Knukken. Hope to see you either in practice or one of the CRAP K Car races over the weekend

Just thought I would poke my head in here really quick. I know I got a PM invite from someone here a while ago, I scanned over it and then forgot about it. While watching some YouTube videos tonight with onboard views from the real races I got the bug and decided to check the specs here and do some testing.

Got myself all excited to join you, but alas I don't think I will. After testing a couple cars, I just find that RM tires are WAY too much for this power level. Even RH tires were quite a lot of grip on the RX-7 TC. After dropping to Sport Softs, the car felt great to me. Then I hopped into the Impreza TC with the same tires and fell in love. But I'm way off the pace, and there's no way I would make that qualifying time cap with these tires.

I just don't think I would have as much fun with super sticky tires. So I'm out.

Thanks anyway for the invite. :)👍

Practice race in the morning in 16 hours and 19 minutes. Sorry about the last one, I was unable to attend but I'm definitely opening a room for this next race.

Thinking 15 laps, thoughts?

Well......

What a race!

6 drivers started qualifying:

Myself, WIDFO (on his dummy account), Davidb, Gadget334, Rosenlundaren and i-was-ere making his debut.

Qualifying started in pitch black at 4am and it was raining with around 77% water on track.

I picked up pole position and started the race well but came undone after a brief visit to the beach which yielded no damage but cost me the lead.

It was catch up from there and (IIRC) I was a minute 10 behind 1st and on RI tyres with 50% water on lap 10, I made my move by pitting and switching to RM for a final push and got the deficit down under 35 seconds, at that point David pitted and came out a few seconds ahead of me with fresh RMs.

Thankfully the water was leaving the track fast so by the time we hit the penultimate lap we could drive at nearly 100% of our ability.

I took the lead on back straight and held it going into the last lap, it was tense!

I pushed and worked up a lead of about 4-5 seconds but wobbled in the back section allowing David, who drove flawlessly, to draft me PERFECTLY on the straight and take the win by 0:318!

I came second but that was probably the best race I've ever had the pleasure of being involved in.

Well done David, you deserved it mate :)

Well done to everyone else too, tough conditions and some outstanding driving from all of you :)

Oh, if I'm wrong on any details it's because I've been up all night playing Far Cry 3 and I'm a bit scattered

Thanks everybody for setting this event up and making it happen. I really appreciate it!

Great race! Last time I barely stayed on track but this time I only flipped off sometimes without damage. The rain and the darkness was a new experience for me. I learned a lot. 👍

Still have to speed up my pace if I shall get a position. :)

Can't race you next week, I'm off for some other kind of endurance - cross country skiing. 👍 :)

Certainly was an awesome race. The weather definitely spiced things up with respect to pit strategy, e.g. most racers stopped at the end of lap one due to tyre choice, including HP, presumably going to full wets as the track water was up to about 80%. Notable exceptions were iwas, myself and widfo.

Then iwas had a spin near the end of lap 2 which gave me the lead. As I didn't pit at all until end of lap 8 I ended up with quite a large lead.

I spent most of my race watching the split times to Hp. For a while it looked like I had a 40 second buffer and he was only reducing it by about 1 second per lap.

I was feeling relatively confident at this point, but then it started to dry out and heathen got faster and faster.

When I pitted at end of lap 8 the water level was about 55% and I considered changing straight to slicks to run to the finish, but chickened out and went for intermediates. If I had gone to slicks I may have gained an advantage by not having to stop again, or I may have crashed in blaze of glory.

As it was I saw hp change to slicks with 3 laps to go. I figured he would have to make up 15 seconds per lap for the last 3 laps to catch me. Some quick maths suggested this was more than achievable, so I had to pit for racing mediums a well.

And that's how we ended up changing places for the last 2 laps with a final margin of 0.3 seconds.

Definitely one of the most exciting races I have been in. looking forward to the next one :)

Dead right mate, that race was an absolute classic and i'll never forget it. That's why we go out to race, for experiences like that :)
