DA's Super GT Series|PURE Spec 1.0|Last Round 4/14

I'm not disappointed with my pick. The Lexus has been a fun car on certain tracks. Slowing it down though for some turns can be a headache. It feels like a boat at times lol

Well, the NSX is just too tail happy for me though. It's hard to push and not make mistakes.

I have little to no experience in an NSX. I've heard it's a tricky car to drive. A drivers car from what i hear. Master it and it will be rewarding. But from what i've seen and heard, you most be on your toes at all times.

It is tricky to drive, that's for sure. I figured out how to conquer the aggressive oversteer but tuning it beyond that is where I suck. My ARTA needs more front bite. It seems to push, although I'd rather that over the tail-end wagging around faster than I can blink.

I used to have problems going through a few turns at Spa until I figured out the ride height issue (thanks Z). I can lap Spa fairly quick but it's been a long while since I've been there. Now when it comes to Laguna...I'm screwed. Not enough experience under my belt there.

In practice I was running with a tune from on these forums, and had camber at 2.4 front and rear. It made me faster on a lap, but took tire wear up a notch. I meant to change it before we started qualifying back to my original setup, but when we switched rooms I forgot about it. So instead of getting 10 laps with softs, I ended up getting 8. There was times when I was really close to Z at the start and I could have passed him but it wouldn't be pretty. So I just followed him, but after 7 laps the tires just gave up. I usually run camber at 1.5 1.7- stupid me forgetting to change back. I dropped like a stone at the middle/end of stints.

I chose the Stealth GTR because I like the livery, and there were already a lot of NSX's being used. I don't think I would have taken an NSX anyway. I have trouble tuning out the oversteer, even though it is faster at most the tracks I tested. I just never used it much before, so the oversteer was always there and I haven't figured a way to counter it. So it uses tires up too much in my hands. Maybe I should have tried an SC430. I think for next season a two tire rule is cool, but mediums and softs, not mediums and hards! Just my thoughts.

If I'm doing a 2 compound rule, it'll be with mediums and hards. More realistic imo.

Edit: The more I think about it the more I like it.

SC430:
Hards - 1:23.2

NSX:
Hards - 1:23.1

GTR:
Hards - 1:23.4

This is pretty interesting.
I can clearly see that you're much better with the NSX compared to the other ones.

From our testing (that partly took place around Seca), we got the NSX down to 1:22.1XX.
GT-R to 1:21.1XX
SC430 to 1:20.9XX

On Hards.

So Laguna Seca is defenetly a track where the GT-R and SC430's will shine.
Soft or Hards does'nt matter imo.
Perhaps a tad, but not that much that it would erase the differences.

I really don't like hard tires either. They take too long to heat up and then have to be worked really hard to get a time out of them. I noticed when I found more time out of the SC430 I had to really lay-in to the rear traction that car has by aggressive throttle input.

What's really odd though, is I remember getting the the premium NSX's down to the 18's on softs and the GTR's in the 17's, but I can't get close to that anymore. Not sure what changed.

17's at Laguna Seca? That sounds scary fast. Was this before the update with the tire model?

Yeah, you have to really hammer the throttle on the SC430. I am killing the tires when pushing it hard. Do you run with traction control at all?

Yeah it was just after Spec 2.0 with wear and 502hp and 1100 kgs. It was the only car other than the standard NSX's that I could break in to the 17's with. 17's in a race draft was a little easier but we were doing those times in quali.

I wish the Data Analysis tool in practice mode was a little more precise. I can see the definite braking performance difference from the NSX's to the GTR's and SC430's (about 10-15% better in the GTR's and SC's) but the lateral grip difference is not so straight forward and tough to chart without hard numbers.

Something else I noticed with the Data Anal. tool, which goes back to what Denilson was bringing up, because of the braking deficiency I was braking very early in the NSX and accelerating much earlier than in other cars. I think this is where the differences in deltas come in.

DA... just keep SlowCaptain out.... he'll probably run 17's on Meds. JK. We'll just tell him he has to run a Epson or Clarion to even things out.

I really should look at the data analysis. I never would have thought the SC430 and GTR's would have the better braking with their current weight.

I don't see myself hitting 17's at Laguna. 18's would be a small victory for me. My main focus is limiting tire wear. Pits here are a bit costly as you tour the country side leaving pit lane

Lol, he can take the Woodone and still beat me most likely.

What you talking about me LOL

No, someone else. Nice try though lol

I'm hoping to not lose too many points this weekend. Laguna is not my friend lol

Ok. Hopefully you make it because the field is getting awfully thin lol

Yeh it could be tight I'm away at a race weekend at oulton park don't know if I will be back in time...

Yeah, Slowcapt. might pull out a miracle and still win in that car.

All joking aside, I love that track and hope to do well there. I'm thinking I'll get down in the low 19's in qualifying.

I'll probably stop participating in this series if we go to Hard tires. They're a joke to me. I'm in the 1:20's so far at Laguna, but that was offline quick practice.

Honestly, I do not like the soft tires. The only reason the tire selection is open is because I listened to someone else.

If there's a 2 compound rule with med/hard compounds, it will make people actually drive. The grip level of the softs is way too good imo. Hards simulate real life grip the best I think. Just my 2¢

Softs to me seem more arcadish. You can throw a car into turns on racing soft tires with little worry. Hard tires will probably bite me after a full season running soft. But it sure would be fun trying to keep the power down.

Well a 2 compound rule will be fun. If.you watch any Indy Car racing, the different compound strategy makes it interesting.

It's actually the opposite, soft tires give representative grip but their life is way too short. Look at real life lap times at Fuji for example. In game we were doing 1:34's and 35's for qualifying- IRL SGT did 1:33s last year, and will be even faster this year. Suzuka we were qualifying in the 1:54s and 55's, but IRL SGT does 1:51's, and during preseason testing, the Honda HSV set a SGT lap record in the 1:48's! This is with 540hp 1100kg. While last year it was around 505hp 1100kg. So basically GT5's soft tires are even slower than real life.

I think Hards are garbage, but with everyone on them its not a big deal. Yes I agree that Softs seems to be a fair representation of the level of grip a racing slick (non DOT tire) has, I've only been on DOT R's like BFG R1's or Hoosier A6/R6 and they remind me of a hard tires grip. But that is a hard thing to prove because there will always be a "gumball" soft tires to choose that only lasts a few laps at a time and can't be cycled over and over.

Well no hard tires for me. I'll be trying new series' if we go to those rules. I hope the best for this to go forward though.

Hard tires will be like in WSGTC maybe one of the best series around : tup

Edit: BTW im doing 19.4s

Good running Toyota. Managed a 19.008 with a bit of room for improvement. The SC has 18's in it. Just not sure it is worth it when it comes to tires.
