Congrats Gordon Shedden! I was worried he was going to let the pressure get to him and lose it but he came good!

And finally congrats to Aron Smith for his first BTCC win!

Definitely think next year we should agree on a date and have a Gtplanet meetup at a BTCC weekend.

Edit: anyone know what the prize is for winning the championship?

Wow, an amazing move by Daniel Lloyd just now in the Porsches around the outside at Sheene Curve!

Well done Wrathall the most deserving of success in the BTCC grid :D.

Lol at the Honda formation flying across the finish.

Great to see Wrathall getting that win he's deserved for a long time! I was hoping last year that he'd be able to fight for the title in 2012 - that hasn't really happened but always hoping again for next year! He's so cool and calm on the track and races very cleanly.

Gutted for yet another DNF for Mat Jackson.

With so many new winners this year and so many different manufacturers getting success, things must surely look pretty good for 2013. Surely one of Toyota, Ford, BMW, Proton, Audi, Vauxhall, VW...surely at least one of them could spare a few bob to support one of these teams?

Hopefully we keep all of the competitors this year along with a few new ones like Chris Stockton in the NGTC Chevrolet Cruze.

I see Paul O Neil with Stockton next season. If anyone can get best out that Cruze it's O'Neil.

Well tech-speed are meant to be coming back with the S2000 Cruze as well, though I'm not sure O'Neill wants to be driving a non-performance matched car.

Apparently Tony Hughes isn't driving next year, so maybe Speedworks will be getting O'Neill after his great drives this year?

It was great to see my compatriot Aron Smith on the top step of the podium, I hope there's more to come. :D

There were 2 things that kinda weirded me out. The first was the Clio race, the way they were all bunched up together made it seem like there were at least 30 cars there!

Second, the Formula Renaults were on the same pace as the touring cars! You would think that they would be faster as they weigh half as much...:odd:

Dick Bennetts has already said that NGTC is obviously the way to go next year, but no indication of whether WSR will construct an NGTC BMW or a different manufacturer - there is not much to suggest they will necessarily go BMW again. I guess one thing is that they're already using a reliable BMW turbo engine.

But either way I think we will definitely see WSR running an NGTC-something next year.

They carry BMW Performance branding on the car, so I'm guessing there is some kind of monetary input from BMW/BMW UK or a BMW Dealer somewhere along the way. Steep hill to climb if they went for an NGTC F30 3 series over the, now aging, E90 3 series... I'd love it to happen, but I doubt it will, and I really don't want another team running hatchbacks.

Andy Neate's latest bit of driving:

You know what? As much as I dislike Chris James' attitude and character..at least he doesn't take out so many competitors every race meeting and cause so much damage to other cars.

Between Plato and Neate, they probably account for 50% or more of the contact in the BTCC this year! Maybe even 75%!

Yesterday, I re-read some of the earlier posts about driving standards and now this happens today.

It's just not acceptable. As a former champion famously said, what are we doing here? Is this stock car racing or motorsport?

---

Great final result for Wrathall. First win for Toyota since Julian Bailey in 1993.

Well to be fair, today saw possibly the cleanest 3 races I've ever seen in BTCC for a long, long time.

The only contact was from Andy Neate in race 1 and 2 and Plato ramming Shedden in race 2. Maybe Onslow-Cole and Collard too?

I thought they would maybe buy this years MGs from 888 as WSR did used to run MGs before no? Or do a similar thing to Pirtek with Honda.

This is completely from my crazy brain so don't read to much into it..

True, but it's still a shocking incident. He just cut back across the track without lifting, and evidently without using his mirrors. It's absolute brain fade. Lunacy.

Plato's attack on Shedden/Collard was awful too. But I suppose overall it was a cleaner race meeting. Maybe they're extra careful in the rain.

^Oh I fully agree that both MG drivers were pretty terrible today. But don't let that dirty the entire series, as I think today was great to see some clean and fair racing for a change.
It would be nice for TOCA to do something properly about Andy Neate, but one suspects they're a little careful about him due to the money he brings to 888 and hence ensures Plato has a seat.

WSR are well capable of building their own cars, so I think its unlikely (but not impossible!) for them to buy the MGs.
WSR have had relationships with a lot of manufacturers in the past, so simply because they ran MGs in the past doesn't really mean anything for the future. The only reason for WSR to run MGs is if MG paid them to do it (or they got the MGs cheap - unlikely).

If BMW UK stump the cash up, WSR will likely build an NGTC BMW. But otherwise its anyones guess what they will do.

Watching the racing from the track is so much different to the TV! I was at the last turn, could see some of turn 1, turn 4 and the last turn. I thought I saw a lot but watching the highlights it makes a lot more sense and seen much more racing - Plato and Neate were such bad racers, cant believe they went to that level to keep places

Very good day for Shedden, felt sorry for TOC he had the pace but made some silly mistakes

Hopefully Rob Austin keeps up his form, was very exciting seeing him drift his Audi all day  Was a very exciting drive's from him
