FM Vs GT - Discussion Thread (read the first post before you post)

So you are hoping that the majority of opinions of others to support your claim? Most here of what? People reading this threat? People on GTplanet? People on Forzaplanet? If i make a claim i wouldn't care about what other people think.
Anyway i can just say: Either do it right or don't do it at all. Better try next time Turn 10. If you try do something , so many studios have done before, prepare to face the comparison.
Of course i will be hotlapping in Forza 3 too, but i will stay away from the Nordschleife. It just vaguely resembles the original. Of course if you don't know the original you wouldn't care.

That...that right there would make PD take back GT5 as an entire package.

You miss the point. I am playing a sim so i want accuracy not just fun. I want the Nordschleife i know from reallife. I have to admit i want a Nordschleife Simulator and FM4 claims to be a sim and to offer the ring as a track. I can understand that the Shift Track is off but it's not advertised as a sim. i just expected to be fun. It was ok in Forza 3 also, because it was just a first attempt. I am not the one who was talking about how much Turn 10 listened to the community. And we all know that the Forza 3 Ring was debated to death, over and over again. So where is the the improvement?

If the accuracy of that track is that important to you, why are you playing Norschleife on the console anyway. If it's that important, you should be playing it on PC where it's substantially more realistic. GTR nailed it better than GT/Forza.

Turn 10 listened to the community, and they knew the sales they'd lose for an inaccurate 'Ring wouldn't begin to approach the cost of completely modeling the track from scratch. I'm not saying it shouldn't be accurate though, I'd love for it to be. It's just that I feel you're overreacting a bit. Every game has some tracks with obvious inaccuracies, FM4's just happens to be the 'Ring.

You are not. You're playing a simcade game (which goes for both GT5 and FM4). If you wanted to play a sim, you wouldn't be on a console, would you? Even the games that are, in fact, very much gunning for a true sim approach aren't much of a competition for a dedicated, true PC sim.

I've said this before, but I can't get my head around people claiming that physics and track accuracy is the only important thing to them. If it was, why would they even play games on a console?

Anyways, I'll just leave this here for all of those who're saying GT5 still has a leg up on FM4 when it comes to photo modes:

Since when it's about money counting? I thought it's about passion? Passion to cars and passion to motorsports? So they didn't remodel the ring because it was not cost effective? Don't kid me. If it was about cost effectiveness there wouldn't be a virtual version of the ring in ANY game. For the time and money you have to spent on it you can model 5 other tracks. The Nordschleife is a dinosaur, the last of its kind, a oddity and that is what makes it special among the modern, synthetic tracks. (especially new F1 tracks) So for what reason does Turn 10 make it wider and more suited to the 21st century?

If it was about passion only and not money, I wouldn't have had to pay $100 for GT5 and $80 for FM4, both would have been free.

Is passion a driving force? Yes.

However developers are companies, they need to make money. Frankly the only people that seem to care about whether or not any track is accurate is the sim crowd which is a rather small niche market.

Not only would your does that point have shaky reasoning behind it, but do you really thing Microsoft would spend all that money just for the passion? Having the track with small inaccuracies is going to drag in a lot more sales than not having it at all.

^Hey look, comparing a graphical asset in GT5 to something Forza never even claimed to have, and has no reason for.

Let's compare Forza's livery editor to GT5's while were at it.


And those other shots look nice. Pretty much just as nice as the Forza shot's that are being posted.

These shots prove nothing other than that both games are pretty much on par with each other in photo mode.

I will repeat myself again, now you are up to 77 posts, and how many do you think are on the The Ring? How many posts do you think you made that is all about how FM4 didnt get it right? How many posts do you think you made that talks about the glorious ring, and how GT5 did it right, and nobody else has?

Well I can tell you enough to get the point across that you dont like FM4 becaue of the ring. You are disappointed. You were hoping it would change. GT5's is sooo accurate. Nothing can match it. All you like to do if hotlap Nords. Its the best track in the world. You have been there OMG! Blah, Blah, Blah.

Video or playing the real thing. You still wont be able to tell which ones processes better physics. Just more and more graphical opinions arise 👎. Can this battle be fought with facts? Can some hacker please hack both games and extract the data and compare it. What is up with the "play a sim on the pc", it has become a stupid stereo type. These companies have way more money, sever clusters for simulation, and connections to pwn pc sim devs. Ever heard of a algorithm? You can create one to put less processing stress on a processor. What im saying is that these games are on par with pc titles. Still waiting for a pc sim that runs on dx11 with some decent shaders, I rather stick with using ADAMS tire simulator. Last, GT5 fanboys please stop with the graphical non sense who cares what you think. Lets talk some physical variables 👍. I know how to fix this . Post your reason with a source. There is stating your opinion, and then there is blowing an issue out of proportion. And that's coming from a major 'Ring nut, who's complained about that issue a fair few times already.

No, you are getting annoying that you cant get past the ring with FM4. Thats what is annoying. Try to add something to the post instead of the same tired rant you cant seem to let go. You made your point. You dont think its kind of sad you have ranted about the same thing for 1/2 of your total post count? Sheesh.

Anyway...I hope this thread doesnt just become a photo mode pissing contest. Its going to get old real fast.

I do this because i want this problem solved in Forza 5. I really DO like Forza 4 and i wand the franchise to become even better. If noone complains, nothing is gonna change. It will be my nightmare if i get the same Nordschleife in 2 years again and someone tells me they didn't change it , because it was not cost effective. I want the most challenging track in the best racing game.

Honestly man It's really no point into debating anymore, they both are good games in the end, and nobody is going to ever change their mind on which game is better because it's all up to one person opinion.
