I was genuinely wondering if it was one of those shunts where it's not obvious that the driver is OK. Relief and bemusement in equal measure!Yeah, couldn't see any reason why, but the TV director doing their usual sterling job of showing where the action/concern is....
That was the mildest incident ever to have a red flag? Maybe they were being cautious due to the nature of the track, but seems a bit premature.I was genuinely wondering if it was one of those shunts where it's not obvious that the driver is OK. Relief and bemusement in equal measure!
As per the norm for Monaco the sponsor banners come first before the action.but the TV director doing their usual sterling job of showing where the action/concern is....
I think I heard during one of the practice sessions that getting away from the local host having the race coverage is one thing F1 wants to change for this race. They control race coverage everywhere else except Monaco which is why you get things like showing sponsors instead of action. As per the norm for Monaco the sponsor banners come first before the action.
It looks that way, but Perez also looks like a man on a mission after last weekend.Whos taking pole today guys? I think Ferrari will lock out the front row

Perez looked to have the edge over max all weekend but it looks like max is closer on qualy. It looks that way, but Perez also looks like a man on a mission after last weekend.
Instead of Rolex signs, we'll see actual Rolexes.Yeah, FOM want to show more celebrity faces and fans in apartments.
I've covered this elsewhere - in a conversation about why Gran Turismo's Cote d'Azur is very much not Monaco nor will it ever be called Monaco, despite how similar it looks - but essentially Monaco's laws mean that the image rights to literally every part of Monaco belong to Monaco. Specifically they belong to the "Société des Bains de Mer", which is owned by the Monaco government and the royal family.I think I heard during one of the practice sessions that getting away from the local host having the race coverage is one thing F1 wants to change for this race. Ending a qualy in a red flag maybe?Language Warning
What is Max saying shouldn't be allowed here? Crashing?
I don’t think Sainz could have done anything different here.So yes, Sainz should get away with it. Looking the video, this is the first frame at which the yellow comes on. Bit too late, he's already turning in and looking to the apex. The waved single yellow further ahead was waving sooner but should obviously have been a double, it's a blind corner.

Well yes, that's what I said. That still frame is the first point the yellow comes on, the frame before it (0.033s) isn't.Thats the first yellow board that Sainz sees and it’s way to late for him to be able to react.
Was less than a minute to go, though, iirc. Wouldn't be enough time to get a lap in.Ending a qualy in a red flag maybe?
Thinking about it more, the 2 crashed cars in front of him were also classified in front of him. Same thing happened last year with Leclerc. Some were arguing back then that if you cause a red flag, you should be taken out of the qualy classification (i.e. become last for that session). He may be thinking along those lines. Was less than a minute to go, though, iirc. Wouldn't be enough time to get a lap in.
Well if he wants pole at Monaco he needs to do 2 things.Language Warning

I suppose. But, his line afterward, "Otherwise, it's better to do your lap & put it into the wall" was kind of weird. It's not like Checo or Alonso purposely crashed; Checo was definitely looking to continue his fight for that pole again.Thinking about it more, the 2 crashed cars in front of him were also classified in front of him. Of course they didn't do it on purpose, and Max knows that, he probably just thinks it's a bit weird that you could in theory do that, and annoyed that he was caught up on the bad side of it two years in a row (though he probably wouldn't have gotten pole either way in both cases)I suppose. Wonder if maybe Max was just caught in his emotions a bit.
