No conspiracy here, just puzzled why they waited so long.
Sorry, I might have misunderstood you then, that’s just what I thought you were implying with your post. Don’t get me wrong, I think the call should have been made earlier but that’s just classic race control.

I believe they did introduce a rule that you can't go alongside during the safety car period after around the mess in 2021.

Well it wasn't that. The document notes the following:

Alleged breach of Article 56.5 of the FIA Formula One Sporting Regulations – Failing
to stay above the minimum time set by the FIA ECU during the VSC ending at 11:31.

But actually:

I don't get why FIA dilly-dally so much in putting out a VSC, they always seem to take an age to react to what is happening on circuit.

Anyway, Red Bull looked the fastest especially with Checo getting fastest lap at the end and how easy it is was them to overtake cars and stay close. Does not look good for the championship for Lando as all the remaining races are strong circuits for Red Bull, they seemed to have found a setup direction that works with the car so Max might not feel the need to do his kamikaze moves if they are the fastest again. Hopefully others can take a step forward for the race and try and stop Max coming through too easily. Max with the penalty is getting closer to a race ban but still need a lot of penalties for that to happen. Red Bull with the performance they showed might be back in the constructor's fight.

Good to see Alpine beat a Red Bull and well clear of Aston Martin, what a turnaround.
Ah fair enough. Shame that little tidbit isn't going to happen but another amazing opportunity for Bearman he seems to be taking with both hands
Let's see if he can get a decent lap together in the proper qualifying with the experience gained, Haas seem to be fourth fastest team in qualifying pace.

Qualy delayed due to heavy rain. At least one hour.

The track is absolutely flooded. I wouldn't be surprised if there won't be qualy today at all.

Rain has eased off, and the track is looking a bit better. It might be possible to start in 15 minutes.

Edit: currently looking at 16:15 local time (in 25 minutes)

So wouldn't those conditions be where you would just drive with WET tires???? Why can't they just use them???? This is a bit ridiculous. I understand the safety aspect but if the tire is there to drive in those conditions then why the heck aren't they using them?

This might be due to rivers of water running across the track. I don't know that to be true but with the sort of bowl design Interlagos is I would think that could be a big problem in heavy rain.

In case there's no qualifying possible at all, FP1 would set the grid. That would give Lando pole and Max P20.
Also Bearman P3 😄

But that's assuming we can't get qualifying done today or tomorrow morning.
