Tomorrow, after the formation lap, all the drivers need to crawl off the line and drive single-file around the track slowly, head into the pits and get out the cars, like 2005 USA. Pack the cars up and GTFO the country. If they're not allowed to leave until the race is over, don't waste your time at a dangerous venue for many reasons.

They need to do two laps (not behind SC) n order to make the race valid. That will satisfy the contract.

But while I can think of three drivers who'd definitely do this, I can think of one who wouldn't and three who would be ordered not to - which would effectively result in a 17-car Grand Prix. Or 16 if Schumacher isn't cleared to race.

If they were threatened about the difficulty of leaving, I don't see the the difference between attempting to leave now and right after the race start.

I can't think of a single driver who would do this. Drivers and teams are constantly talking about boycotting races for all kinds of different reasons, but the last time it actually happened was fourty years ago. There was Vettel's announcement that he was going to boycott the Russian GP this year, but that was somewhat of an empty threat considering it's physically impossible to have a race in Russia now anyway.

Except the reports are at one point last night, the drivers did unanimously agree to not race. Someone or something changed their mind, and the FIA I believe was quick to say, “No, no, the Saudi govt. did not threaten to keep them from leaving.”

Wow, tidy lap from Perez. Congrats!

I'm still surprised by how quick the Ferraris are (thought it'd be a Sainz pole), and how slow anything with a Mercedes engine is.

Glad Mick and Nicholas are OK.

I think that was Horner commenting about Perez's mighty lap.
You're probably right. I only ask because I was following the Reddit thread and I saw people posting about Newey making that same remark. Came back from my kitchen, ESPN had decided less vroom, vroom, more pow, pow.

Love it that Lewis didn’t pass Q1. Altough I hope he doesn’t push other people of track or hits them from behind, when he will race into the points tomorrow.
Also great to see two teams and four drivers are so close.
The gap behind with Alpine and Russell is too big…
Would be lovely if an other team can squeeze themself in the battle(s).

I believe that the Mercedes has difficulty with the higher E10 instead of E5 from last year. So less horsepower, which shows for all Merc powered teams…

I'm pretty sure there are G-Force sensors in the car and if it registers G over a certain point then they have to be extracted as a precaution, could be wrong there though. But I agree, it's not often that we hear of that happening and that makes it worrying for sure.
Don’t believe so.
After Lewis smashed Max out in Copse, the crash impact was 51G. That resulted in a check in the medical center and observation in the hospital.

Have you just come here straight from 2012 or something?

How many people did Hamilton push "of track or hits them from behind" driving from 20th to 5th and 10th to 1st in Brazil last year? A more likely incident will be Verstappen coming in wild at L1T1, although without his obsession in front of him it might not happen - he only tried to divebomb once last weekend and it wasn't even that wild by his standards...

Oh right.

Anyway, I bet George Russell thought he'd seen the end of the days where he'd be dragging a shed up into Q3 while his team-mate couldn't even get out of Q1.

Looks like his fantasy won't have to worry about it. Lewis is debating breaking parc ferme & start from the pitlane.
