Has anyone done any tests on how quickly tires wear? I did a couple laps last night in my Ariel Atom on the Bugatti Circuit and found that fuel depletion is definitely a concern. I started with 11.1 gallons and at the end of the 2 laps I was down to 10.6. The Bugatti circuit is 2.65 miles, which means I was burning fuel at 10.65 MPG.

I have no idea if that's even a reasonable number. I guess it is for a car with a V8.

I seem to remember Top Gear making fun of some of the supercars for getting like 4mpg when they were flogging them around the track, so 11 probably isn't that bad. :)

My dads buddy has a 426 Cuda, 8 miles a gallon driving like a grandma

Wait, fuel depletion is back? Never read about that in the previews.

I actually thought it would be less than 11 given the fact that you're at WOT the majority of the time, but regardless, the fact that you'll be out of gas within 45 laps seems fairly realistic.

I've found an even better way to make money. Free play. Select the hardest AI and 15 of them. 20 Laps of Spa takes about 50 mins. And you end up making somewhere in the region of 350k. 100k in race winnings and 250k in credits for the levelling up you get which is about nine levels per 20 lap race. Easy money ;)
Thanks I will try that later

I can't for the life of me work out how to get this Audi R18 e-tron off the line. It just goes nowhere, almost stalls. After a few revs with the clutch and slowly building up speed it finally accellerates away. Anyone know what to do to fix that?

Also, how do I get pictures or videos from FM5 or Game DVR?

And one last thing, is there a reason that I can race against Audi R8 LMP cars and not buy them?

I do like how T10 is adding different kits to the cars to essentially make them different models/versions, since it means they don't exactly have to model completely new vehicles.

However, I wish as far as the engine viewing in Forzavista is concerned, I wonder why they didn't make it so you can see the stock engine on every vehicle? I know that their reason is due to engine swaps, but why not just disable the under-hood view if an engine swap is installed?

Yeah I do too; I wasn't clear what the "engine swap" really meant, but was confused when the redline went way down, and torque and HP went way up; "ohhh... its a V8 swap!". So now that I know that, I'll be making a Monster Miata this weekend :)

So has anyone else had this issue where some cars that use to work in Forzavista won't anymore, or at least stop for a while? It's happened to a few of my cars and they eventually started working correctly again, but I can't open the hood on my SRT Viper at the moment. I've tried restarting the game and the console itself. I can still open the doors and the boot lid, but even the "Press X to Explode" prompt is missing from the UI.

I've taken photos of it with the hood popped, and the only thing I've changed since then is the vinyl design I'm using.

Did you swap the engine? If so that will disable Forzavista, I assume thats because they don't have the engines swaps rendered into the cars for forzavista.

Ah, apparently it was the Supercharger doing it, which just seems odd considering all of the engine modifications you can get that would also alter the appearance under the hood. Thanks for the tip, though, it's what made me consider the Supercharger as the problem. I had heard about the engine swaps disabling it, never knew an aspiration conversion would effect it.

I'm currently downloading and installing a 300MB+ update. Does anyone know what it's for?

From T10

  • Cars available in DLC Car Packs can now be used as Rental Cars in Freeplay and Multiplayer modes
  • Adjustment of the windshield damage threshold
  • Players can now perform engine swaps for cars from the LaFerrari Car Pack and the IGN Car Pack
  • Graphical fixes for the 2013 Caterham Superlight R500
  • Cockpit brightness has been adjusted for the 1960 Maserati Tipo 61 Birdcage
  • Engine audio for the 1964 Chevrolet Impala SS 409 has been improved when using clutch

A new update for FM5 is available now, so the next time you start the game you will be prompted to perform the download. The 325MB patch fixes several issues, among them:
  • Cars available in DLC Car Packs can now be used as Rental Cars in Freeplay and Multiplayer modes
  • Adjustment of the windshield damage threshold
  • Players can now perform engine swaps for cars from the LaFerrari Car Pack and the IGN Car Pack
  • Graphical fixes for the 2013 Caterham Superlight R500
  • Cockpit brightness has been adjusted for the 1960 Maserati Tipo 61 'Birdcage'
  • Engine audio for the 1964 Chevrolet Impala SS 409 has been improved when using clutch
Edit: tree'd

At first, I interpreted this as 'test' versions of the DLC cars, that would be awesome. Although if it was available to multi...why buy the pack?

Like we didn't have enough people already complaining that the game was released in beta form. :D

Hi all. Quick question. When scrolling through the new car line up, is there a way to tell (other than by memory. lol) what car you have already bought? There was a garage symbol in FM3+4 on the car you already have. Thanks!

So I got gold in every single race and there isn't an achievement for it? Either this was a big oversight or something is broken.

^^ No oversight. They take a LOT of stuff out of previous Forzas when new ones are released. But you knew that right?

It's a half-complete game. Maybe by FM6 or 7 they'll come to their senses and perhaps come up with a valid reason of not having rally or night driving/weather yet again.

LOL...uh no.

There is not. I was hoping that would be in Forza 4 as well, but it wasn't. I am glad they did add gold medal achievements in Forza 5 though. Forza 5 added 10 gold achievements for career.

March clue thread is up over at FM.net.

Clue 1 Car 1

Kru Jones knows this one.

Clue 2 Car 2

Not really a descendant of Elizabeth II but kind of.

Clue 3 Car 3.

One of the most difficult games I used to give out advice on as an NES Game Counselor.

I have absolutely no idea. Don't know who Kru Jones or Elizabeth II is and I am a bit too young for the last one.
Can't wait to find out though. Hopefully a race car or two?
