Kimi Raikkonen- The third Finnish F1 World Champion, winning by 1 point over British rival Lewis Hamilton, reminiscent of the scene 49 years back, when Phil Hill allowed Mike Hawthorn through to claim the title. Driving a Ferrari, he defeated British adversary Stirling Moss, once again by 1 point. This time, Ferrari also took the Constructor's title uncontested after losing out to Vanwall at that time, the first year of the Constructor's title.
Felipe Massa knew what to do to benefit his team and teammate, and it says a lot for his sportsmanship to do so when he had a clear shot at victory on his home soil.
Raikkonen deserved this title, being his first after being stonewalled by Michael Schumacher for so long. He is a skilled driver, and while his consistency was not over that of his Championship rivals, he came through in the end.
Nico Rosberg, son of World Champion Keijo Rosberg (25 years ago) has shown that he has what it takes to be a worthy driver and a possible candidate for future championships, and capitalised by taking 4th place over Robert Kubica, who also had a strong showing. Nick Heidfeld also held his own, and all three finished 4th, 5th, and 6th behind the two quick Ferraris and the McLaren of Fernando Alonso.
Fernando Alonso was once again showing his mastery through the entire Grand Prix as well as the fact that he nearly pulled off 3 consecutive titles under a newer formula.
Lewis Hamilton... he was less fortunate as a child than most other F1 drivers, and once again he had the worst luck of all. His gearbox jammed? Anyways, he fought hard, but like his first non-points finish, he came incredibly close. He should be freely tipped to win next year.
However, the waiting game begins all over again for the first driver to claim a title in his rookie year...
P.S: Nakajima's pit stop left a lot to be desired!
Note: Personally, I hoped for Alonso to lose out because his 3 titles would be another start of a monotonous few seasons. (They never said that when Schumacher joined Ferrari)
