I quite agree. He is definitely one of the drivers I'll be watching closely next year! 👍

The drivers I am most interested in seeing what they can do in 2008 are:
  • Heikki Kovalainen
  • Lewis Hamilton
  • Nico Rosberg
  • Robert Kubica
  • Sebastian Vettel
All of these "young guns" have in my opinion shown a tremendous amount of talent and should make for some exciting moments next year and hopefully in years to come! 👍

I am also looking forward to see how Sebastien Bourdais does in his long awaited first race in F1.

World championship leader Lewis Hamilton is one of three drivers under investigation by the race stewards at the Brazilian Grand Prix for breaching the wet weather tyre rules.

McLaren's Hamilton, Honda's Jenson Button, and Super Aguri's Takuma Sato were deemed to have used two sets of wet weather tyres during the first free practice session at Interlagos, in breach of the Sporting Regulations.

Article 25.3 of the F1 Sporting Regulations states: "No driver may use more than one set of wet and one set of extreme weather tyres during P1 and P2."

The matter was brought to the race stewards' attention by FIA technical delegate Jo Bauer, and it is not clear at this stage whether or not the drivers involved will face any sanction.

The stewards will likely look into the matter after the conclusion of today's second free practice session.

Looks like the world championship is just going to get harder for Lewis to clinch.

I can't really see him getting a penalty for that, what's he achieved by doing so? Especially in the practice session of all sessions.

I'd be very VERY suprised if he gets a grid penalty.

I've been following the session in f1-live.com, and this just came out:

14:44 Kovalainen has moved second fastest as news is coming in saying that Hamilton, Button and Sato broke the rules this morning by running two sets of intermediate tyres

What does this mean? Is there a sanction for that?

EDIT: sorry, I didn't refresh this page before posting ... :(

I think he only did 5 laps in first practice , so I'm not sure if there is any advantage in running 2 sets

edit : 10 laps

FIA do not want to see hamilton on pole. If he wins the title he will have to earn it at brazil.

I think the FIA are pulling for Kimi to get the title and will do anything to keep Fagnando Alonslow away from it.

how does the FIA have anything to with it , McMerc screwed up

McLaren can't get away with just a fine, because then there would just be a price for using another set of tyres for the practice sessions if teams ever wanted to use them.

Whether they get any advantage from doing so, the rules are there for a reason (to cut costs I guess).

Oh boy ... this is all so absolutely pointless ... I wonder what goes on in the minds of the guys that break rules without any reason (at least, none that I can see). Didn't they know about them? Were they drunk, without memory, did they think that it would go unnoticed?

We don't want, or need, these things to happen, the drivers don't deserve such lack of professionalism ...

Exactly. When you plan the tyres you're gonna use, you gotta think of the rules first. So... It's not a stupid law. It's a stupid -mistake-. And mistakes end up in crashes or penalizations, depending where they happen.

Alonso got penalized with a Stop&Go for having to pit in with the SC on the track in Canada. What a stupid law, eh? I didn't see many complaining about that. ;)

Not many complained eh? Could that be because not many believe it's a stupid law perhaps? Or are you still under the impression that anyone with anything bad to say about Alonso hopes he practically falls off grid sometime soon?

Not pitting until the pitlane is open under a safety car during a race where doing so could give a big advantage with a stop and go penalty
or
Not using two sets of wet tyres in practice, despite gaining fack all with a grid penalty (hypothetically, probably what they'd get if they do)

Which is more stupid I wonder :indiff:

For what it's worth though I complained about the Canada incident, though that was solely down to losing points in the constructors (though academic in the end). He'd already started pissing people off with his childish behaviour by then :)

Kimi's fast lap was hindered by Alonslow. We'll have to wait for Sat practice to get a better idea where everyone stands for qualifying

Didn't Massa loose his points because he went through the red light at the end of the pits when he re-entered the track? Despite how stupid you think the rules are (for the Canada) race, they were broken and the offenders were penalized. The actions taken that were against the rules could have lead to an advantage so I think the penalties were fitting.

As for the rule about not using more than 1 set of wet tires in practice. It seems to be a stupid rule, but it is a rule. I hope the penalty does not affect the race, because the breaking this rule does not seem to give anyone much of an advantage.
