Gran Turismo 6 coming to PS3

That will have to wait until tonight (and I suggest we move this to your tyre thread).
Ok, I edited the post btw. You might be happy then.
I concur. Keep it on topic chaps or thats a super infraction for you Scaff, and a two-day suspension of your medical license dr_slump.
Nooo! What about all the supercute animals who have to die in these two days if I can't help them? :ill: You monster!!! And also all girls will hate you because they love supercute animals and they can't stand it if I let supercute animals die!!!

Back to topic... ehm I guess I better don't talk about the "Scansione Per Gran Turismo PS4" affair? :dopey:
Later changed to "Scanning for Gran Turismo" and eventually deleted...

I guess with all the extra Power of the PS4 the tyre model can be fixed and much more realism added. Question then will be what else the hardcore simracer will be unhappy with. Then again, if they release it on ps3 i think they are limited to what physics they can improve as on PS4 they will improve all so much that we will feel a big differance.
So if its a driving simulator they are aiming for in the next version then the natural evolution is PS4 otherwise they will just add more content if only on ps3 but not so much realism..dammit 15th may is a long time ahead :(
And as someone mentioned, possible it is a ps3 & ps4 game but the PS4 users will get the Academy options and other real life competition.

What do you think of Shahid Kamal Ahmad tweet that a amazing game is coming for Vita and you will behooked for hours a day. Big promise? No indie game either...
Ps4 + Vita + GT6?

They definitely need something big to rescue the vita. Target was 10 million units in one year, they only sold 4.5 million though.

PD do not need the PS4 to improve the physics engine at all, given that at least two titles on the PS2 had better tyre and suspension models (and one of those had stunning dif physics modeled as well), the need for to wait for the PS4 to get better physics is simply not true.

So i hear, but then again its not better and they have had many years to do so. Something is wrong and i blame the ps3,cant belive its PD.

Vita is definitely getting a GT, poor thing needs a shot in the arm. Hmm, come to think of it so does the PS3 :D

Vita needs GT more than GT needs Vita. Personally I prefer to use a wheel so Vita version is not important to me.

Handheld gaming is more suited to pick up and play stuff. GT watered down is not ideal for GT.
I don't think they go together well.

Did I miss the definitely part? Where was that to?

And it's not true we need a PS4 for a livery editor, for creating our customs events and for choosing what cars AI should use and in wich color.

+1 to both. :) It is indeed true that GT6 doesn't need the PS4 to be super better others who wants it on there make it. The errors that occurred on GT5 can be solved on PS3 as well. ;)

Please tell me that's a joke?

You are actually claiming that the PS3 is incapable of running physics calculations that the 360 can run and even the PS2 was able to manage?

PD didn't get it right on the PS2 and they are the ones who have carried the self same issues over to the PS3.

Maybe it is so, i dont belive PD would deliberately make a worse physics model just because they want to not be realistic. cant see Kaz aiming for this. So i belive there is something to do with the PS3. If it is easy or not or they seem to have to trade off something else and made a different choice and with that made a tradeoff on the physics depratment. So i blame the PS3.

The future of Granturismo is a dumped down GT game for the Vita horrrayyyyy

Well with the tweet that an Amazing game is coming to it i Think GT is the only game left that is so major for Sony and is not on vita.

Feel free to do so, but I don't think you will get too many takers for that approach.

PD quite clearly lost focus with GT5 and the mixed bag we got across the whole title is evidence enough of that (or are the standard cars the fault of the PS3 as well).

Even Shift 2 managed to produce a descent tyre model (that was then murdered by driving assists and set-up) so we know the PS3 can handle it)

The thing is that the physics engine also needs hardware power like graphics and high detailed textures. So, the more hardware power left for the physics engine the better. Can they improve GT5s physics on the PS3? Yes. But they would have more freedom on the PS4.

For me, the PS3 is old tech that should go rest now. I think that GT6 could be overall better on the PS4.

A GT6 on PS3 would mean for me that I wouldnt purchase a PS4 in the next 2 years or maybe never. And I am probably not alone. I think SOny would lose a serious amount of console sales. The competition has all the big franchises too and the Sony first party titles are no reason to buy a PS4 at the moment.

When a kid walks into the store with his parents this holdiay season and will see a GT6 on PS3 with standard cars and jaggied lines in comparison with a clean and sharp Forza 5, the decision will be clear...

The PS3 can handle it but to get it to handle it seems hard. Shift2 had other difficulties mostly on the ps3 version. If ps3 + sims is not a good combo or what ever reason we get problems on the ps3 version i feel comes from the ps3 and not from what the developer wants. I was perhaps unclear before, so performance is there but programming seems harder.

Now ps4 comes a lot easier so i Think it will make wonders for sims and open up for more titles on ps4.

I knew this was going to happen...

RIP hype train. :grumpy:

So Shift managed to get a tyre model in place twice in the period of time that PD (a developer who almost certainly have had more time with the PS3 than anyone and have direct access to Sony's dev teams) had, but its not their fault!

Yes the PS3 can be a pain to work with, but whats being asked is not moving the Earth on its Axis, its a tyre and suspension model of a standard that two separate devs managed to get running on the PS2 (which was also known to be difficult to code).

Do you seriously think that Sony and PD would launch a GT title within a year of the PS4's launch?

The user base will not be even close to big enough to support the title for at least a year after launch, so them releasing a PS3 GT6 will not affect you buying a PS4 at all, as it sounds like you would not buy one until a GT title is out on it anyway. Sony has never needed a GT title to successfully launch a console, so why does it need one now? It doesn't, they will sell more than enough PS4's without a GT title for a good year (you know like they did with the PS2 and PS3), build up the user base and then release a GT title when it is actually capable of hitting its potential in terms of sales.

Oh course they could launch it with the PS4 and then watch as DriveClub fails and they get the lowest selling GT title ever in its launch month, because shareholders love that kind of thing GT5 sold 5 million in its first month - do you seriously expect Sony this sell that many PS4s in the first month and achieve a 100% attach rate for GT6? Not everyone buys a Playstation for GT alone, in fact the numbers show that majority don't 70 million PS3's vs 9 million GT5 sales = 12% attach rate, or 82% of PS3 owners who didn't buy it for GT.

It would be pretty funny if all of this build up was for a Vita game.

That wouldn't be bad lol. I wouldn't mind seeing a Gran turismo for the vita. But then again i would be kind of disapointed beause it would be no news for GT6. This whole forum would go crazy if that ever happen.

Making GT6 cross-buy between PS3 and Vita (as in what GTPSP was supposed to be) would financially be the smartest move PD has made in the last few years, in my opinion. Feel free to blast me down!

Not to pick nits, but this statement implies that every buyer of GT5 bought the PS3 specifically for this game. Some of us (myself included) did buy the PS3 for GT but most of the 12% that bought GT5 would not have bought the console solely for that game.

Which doesn't affect the validity of your point, except to say that GT6 would not sell enough PS4 consoles to come close to making up for the lost game sales from the installed PS3 base.

Even though I am a GT fan, I will not buy the PS4 until the price drops substantially, even if that meant not playing GT6 for a year or two.

So deciding which platform to release GT6 on is a no-brainer.

Any details or schedule available for the event on the 15th, I'm considering going but I've no idea what time things kick off let alone how long it will go on for.
