Gran Turismo 6 E3 2013, General discussion(Live streaming links).

I thought of them possibly outsourcing some of their modelling work to compete with Forza.

Wow, I had to go back and re-read the article for that bit. Completely passed over it! That could be a nicely-hidden juicy detail, given that PD is notoriously independent.

Yes I agree, without some form of quality control, the livery editor would not add much to the game in my opinion.
I'm not overly concerned with having one myself, while it would be nice to be able to place a number and maybe some decals and/or stripes it really is not very high on my list of things I need to enjoy the game.

It works perfectly fine in every other game that has a livery editor.
I would not go that far, there are many issues with it in Forza for example, lots of porn plastered on cars, lots of racist and other such stuff and many people have been banned from the game for it yet it still continues.

Kind of like player tags on Black Ops...?

Kaz - "We've updated the physics engine, we've updated the rendering engine, we've updated the suspension models. That's all good news for GT5 users, but I think if you try the version on the show floor right now you'll realize that going from the top menu screen you can immediately go into a race seamlessly without it stopping for loading times," Yamauchi explained. "That's something we really worked hard for, so that the UI is smooth and quick. That's something that I think GT5 users will really appreciate."

I never had a huge problem with GT5's menus, but I can be patient at times, but I am sure many people will love this.

Kaz - "Yes, we have things in the works." [laughs] "I think we might be ready to announce more things at gamescom."

Man. This is going to be a long wait.

Kaz - "We mentioned it a little bit at the Silverstone announcement a few weeks ago but we want to affect more industries outside of just the game world, and we're setting up a lot of collaborations with a lot of different game companies right now, as we speak," Yamauchi reminded. "I think those are some of the most interesting things coming up for GT6."

Collaborations with different game companies? I can't wait to read some of the speculation here.

Maybe with how other games integrate the online play like The Last of Us. Let's say, you're playing a race in GT MODE and ACADE MODE, maybe a friend will be able to pilot one of the AI cars you're racing against. Let's say they can come in and leave at will if there is an option for someone to join your races.

Think? Might? It really is impossible to get a straight answer from the man isn't it.

I really hope this doesn't become a pattern. I do remember him being quoted saying there would be more announced at E3 back at the Silverstone event.

"Might": This year's "soon". You heard it here first! :D

Speaking of; GT5's release date was announced at E3 in 2010, I'm curious when we'll get GT6's.

There was a round table interview with Kaz that Jordan got invited to so expect some new info at some time.

I'm pretty sure that is where the above quotes have come from. If those are the answers he gave to desctructoid expect similar ones given to Jordan.

Even though I think it's going to be released on time, I think they are going to wait as late as possible to give a release date, no reruns of 2010 last minute delays.

True, though Destructoid did not ask specific questions pertaining to livery editor or course editor, for example. While I don't expect definitive answers from him, I do expect some form of new info to come to fruition. I guess it also depends on how many and what questions he was able to ask him.

I'm still hoping someone asked about leaderboards. I know several people who will play GT6 for a long time and buy most if not all the DLC if it has a proper leaderboard system whereas those same people will play for a short while and move on if they are not there and will likely not buy any DLC.

To me and the people I race with this is like 100x more important than the livery editor and many of the other things I see people asking for throughout the forums.

It would be nice to have everything but leaderboards are a must for some of us.

Tenacious D. He does work.

Incredibly well-worded, sir. If it doesn't come up at E3, maybe we can get that answered in some other way- Future events, Kaz's twitter, amar or TokoTurismo, etc. etc... :sly:
Hey, I'm a writer, and something of a pocket philosopher. ;) I love to speculate about the logical conclusions of things. And I'm very passionate about bringing the biggest chunks possible from the real world of motorsports into Gran Turismo, much like Kaz is.

When he brought this up at the Silverstone reveal, it's really hard to see these aspects as anything but some versions of what I posted. If Kaz was to sit down with you and say that GT6 would have an online structure that was built to support the creation of online clubs and leagues, including the hosting of racing series and championships, this is very hard to confuse or misinterpret.

The logical conclusion for me is that this is going to be based around an Event Maker, somewhat like the one we had in GT2, but much more powerful, bigger and comprehensive. With all the other user content Kaz is giving us in GT6, I suspect it will work in both offline single player and online with the League Maker tools. And as a corollary, something of a Livery Painter would be a part of this. Maybe it's not as free form as the one in Forza, maybe it works with templates, but I suspect that some kind of livery graphic to go with race modding cars is included in GT6.

As for the collaboration with other game companies, a few things came to mind. Not subcontracting modeling work, but other stuff, such as goodies for Home with content from other developer's games. Working with Evolution, perhaps Codemasters and Eutechnyx as well on damage modeling and that Livery Editor. Outside chance of wooing Electronic Arts with some sort of deal to wheedle Porsche into the bargain. I've also been thinking of Kaz working with real world automotive companies to involve them somehow, such as with modification deals and sponsorships for your car, perhaps even your racing league.

I had posted that we tended to learn more at GamesCom about GT6, but I had no idea it would be most of it! But maybe the other groups involved want to be in on some kind of presentation and it's not ready yet. We'll see. Besides, we have a bit more E3 to go.

Those quotes didn't come from my interview session. I was also thankful to have about 15 minutes with him one-on-one before the "round table" started. We covered some important questions, and his answers contained some pleasant surprises. :)

I'll begin the transcription process tomorrow. 👍

Hoooray!!) 👍
Do livery editor? :dunce:

Nobody suggested that. Did you mean third-party studio's?

Any MS only affiliated studio is what I meant. There has to be a limit to who they could possibly work with is what Im getting at. Seems obvious they wouldn't work with the competition to Sony.

Maybe he meant, collaborations with a lot of different automotive/aftermarket companies? doesn't sound right to be collaborating with different game companies.

Thanks Jordan. Keep up the hard work!

There is no denying the passion from the community here at GTPlanet. I have to believe Kaz and SONY hold GTPlanet in a higher regard than a generalized gaming site.

The community that would have spawned from the game automodellista by Capcom, was awesome in theory. It'd be interesting to see something along the lines of hosting a room where online friends meet with their cars in view. Next, swapping parts in real time to see what your car would look like with your friends wheels in a particular colour. Photomode locations could be used to host such rooms
