Gran Turismo 6 E3 2013, General discussion(Live streaming links).

Those quotes didn't come from my interview session. I was also thankful to have about 15 minutes with him one-on-one before the "round table" started. We covered some important questions, and his answers contained some pleasant surprises. :)

I'll begin the transcription process tomorrow. 👍

That is awesome. I can't wait to read it. Thanks!:)

The aabove link seems to suggest Kaz meant CAR companies rather tthan Game companies,it seems GT6 will have strong collaborations wwith various car manufacturers from what I'm getting.

Some people still not get it GT series which create by KAZ are focus in world professional racing simulator, this is not a street/underground racing game like other, livery editor will ruin this.

"We mentioned it a little bit at the Silverstone announcement a few weeks ago but we want to affect more industries outside of just the game world, and we're setting up a lot of collaborations with a lot of different game companies right now, as we speak"

Anyone who thinks this quote is referring to Porsche is fooling their self. Sure, if you just take "game companies" and use only that, without the context, then you can arrive at Porsche. Besides, if they licensed it now it would take them months to build the first car and likely wouldn't make it in until DLC anyway. So why announce it now?

Clearly a mis-translation guys. "Game companies" should just say "companies".
Yep I was thinking the same thing or perhaps car companies. Game companies does not make a lot of sense in the context of affecting more industries outside the game world

Yeah, I mean, who would want to be able and turn pretty much every car in the game into a racing car? That would be extremely opposed to the game being a racing simulator.

I would not agree about a livery editor ruining the series, but i do agree on Kaz' focus. I like where the direction is going, with or without the livery editor.

Also Forza and GT seems to be diverging in focus, forza seems to be heading towards an "extreme" genre which is all the hoopla now a days. And GT is continuing it's trek towards realism.

So you are saying that translator san cannot translate correctly? You do realize that Kaz has a translator when he does these interviews at the large game shows? I think he clearly was saying game companies. I just through out a speculation that it might have been with EA. I could be very wrong.

Yes, I'm aware of translator san. We go waaay back. :sly:

First, I'll admit that I shouldn't have immediately pegged it on translator san. However, many people here know how obscure/inconsistent some of his translations have been in the past. Or maybe it's Kaz who is obscure/inconsistent.... doesn't really matter. Also, it could've have been mis-typed or mis-written on by the journalist. Or just mis-spoken by the translator. Mistakes happen.

But, with all of that said, let's review the quote.

"We mentioned it a little bit at the Silverstone announcement a few weeks ago but we want to affect more industries outside of just the game world, and we're setting up a lot of collaborations with a lot of different game companies right now, as we speak"

1. We mentioned it at the Silverstone announcement- Nothing about EA/Porsche/Game Companies was mentioned there.

2. We want to affect more industries outside of just the game world- Yep, that is what they talked about at the Silverstone announcement. KW and Yokahama

3. And we're setting up a lot of collaborations with a lot of different game companies right now- So they must be working with a lot of game companies about things outside of the game world that they mentioned at the Silverstone announcement? Huh?

Nope that doesn't make sense. However, if you just remove the word "game" it all makes sense. Anyway, that's the way I see it. It's the simplest and most "elegant" answer. But hey, I have my fingers crossed for Porsche too. Just think it's a dream right now. 👍

Despite all that, mistranslations or misunderstandings still happen a lot, I remember at the Silverstone presentation he mentioned collaborations with car companies yet to be announced so I assume that's what's been said here as well, it also makes more sense to me.

So in real life racing the liveries aren't created or present? How it would ruin the simulator aspect escapes me to be honest, it's just another real life aspect simulated, nothing more, nothing less.

Being able to do a race livery on a race modded car would be great but a full blown livery editor would result in a lot of stuff other than race liveries such as hello kitty cars, anime themes and other such stuff.

On Forza there are some very nice liveries created but there are also a lot of stuff that should not be put on cars and have nothing to do with racing

It wont ruin anything, It will only ruin dreams of people who dont want the rest of us to have what we really want

And what's wrong with that exactly? It also means a whole spectrum of other possibities.

You don't know what you're talking about.

I don't see the problem considering actual racing cars with such designs exist.

Actually it would make sense and explain some of the misunderstandings in the last years.

Also in one of the last interviews Kaz barks at translator san "I did not say that" in English. I saw that "live". I think it was in the GT6 announcement interview.

Who can say what should and shouldn't be on cars? I've seen plenty of anime themed street, drift and time attack cars.

And what's wrong with that exactly? It also means a whole spectrum of other possibilities.
Aside from the inappropriate images that are put on cars, nothing. We don't need it. It would be nice to have some stripes, decals and number options but that would really be enough to satisfy most of us.

Many of the ones I have saw on Forza are R rated anime and definitely should not be in a game that kids play.

The LiveCast that was linked to earlier is starting now.
Nope not yet it is currently 9:08 AM there

What gives you the impression that you speak for "most of us"? I'd rather you have said "I don't need it"

I went back and re-read after both of your comments, and I believe I also took it out of context. There is an error of some sort with that statement, whether it was the translator, Kaz himself, or the editor on the article. Sorry guys, my mistake, I got caught up in the excitement.

I am still excited for anything new that comes to the series. I am also excited to see what good news Jordan got in his interview with Kaz.

What gives you the impression that you speak for "the most of us"?
I know for a fact that all but 2 people I race with would much rather have a simple interface that can just do stripes decals and numbers which is quite a fair amount of people. I do have 2 that really enjoy painting on Forza and would want the full deal but there is a large number of people who play the game and do not bother to even put a decal on the car and many others who would just like to be able to add some decals or numbers.

I know a lot of people here are wanting it and a lot more that are not here would as well but I believe that is a small percentage compared to the number of people who are far more interested in driving.

You don't need it, you are satisfied with just some stripes, decals and numbers.
Whether it's needed or not depends on whether you see it as another creative gameplay aspect which in itself is fun to play with (like Photo-Mode, we didn't strictly needed that either), or whether you aren't the creative type and couldn't care less.
If it's the latter (which I suspect it is), then you'll never understand its core appeal to some and what it could add to the game as a whole.

but I believe that is a small percentage compared to the number of people who are far more interested in driving.

Because they're mutually exclusive?

Thats dumb, you might as well say people shouldnt use mics because most of the time people are cursing ( kids most of the time).Theres a reason online content isnt rated, and parents should know the risk.

What you believe is irrelevant when talking for a mass majority, because I believe the complete opposite, but I talk for myself.

As i know the world class racing competition car only stick with the sponsor logo. Is kinda weird if the car with tattoo style paint. Imagine that hows weird if a orchestra musician wear like a punker play a violin. I just hope GT can keep his own category .

I'm going to go out on a bit of a limb here and attempt to play devil's advocate a bit. In some ways I think I can see townnet's point and almost agree with it though I don't necessarily think a livery editor would ruin Gran Turismo.

For me personally I'd at least like to see a basic livery editor, something simple with stripes, manufacturer decals and number boxes that would allow us to create our own simple but unique race car style liveries.

All those complex art cars from games like Forza are beautiful and I can fully appreciate the talent it takes to create such things, but at the end of the day they are still "art cars". I think that might be what townnet is getting at though, that GT perhaps isn't the right type of game for that complex art car style livery?

Granted I do understand that there are race cars with those highly artistic liveries out there in the real world, I'm just trying to see it from both sides and hopefully make reasonable points :).

No worries, but let's all hope you're first instinct was right. :)

People not wanting a livery editor, because "bad taste" may come from it is similar to stopping 3D printing because guns can be made from it. Nearly everything has positive and negative effects in this world. But the question is, will a livery editor be, on balance, positive or negative?

Certainly the ability for the community to create outweighs the negative of a penis on a car or 3.

He's saying a livery editor is only associated with street and underground racing, which is quite ridiculous.
