Update 1.08 installed without problem for me, servers still in maintenance people don´t panic that update doesnt work.

But the lack of comunication is really not cool from PD 😔

Picture please as I have never seen one.

Even before starting the game, you get a pop up asking you to buy credits. Every time you get a credit reward, it gives you an option at the bottom of the receipt to get more from the store . It's hideous.

I may be one of the only ones happy with the credit earnings beeing slowed down...
I vividly remember the first GT games and the importance of grinding. I loved it and actually wasn't too fond of the easy earnings in GT Sport, where any car (except the 10m+ cars) was an easy get.
Off course , that works best if they keep adding solo races, events and so on, to avoid boringly repeating the same races over and over again

I just received my PS5 yesterday so I'm super frustrated with the server outage and the lack of communication...

Yep, it's extremely predatory, but the gaming industry has got about 1 year to milk this as much as their can before several countries begin passing laws to clamp down on this, it's already at the "House of Lord's" phase in the UK.

Anyone who's in the UK can speed this process up by writing to their local MP.

Great job from PD, so i have version 1.080.000 installed and the latest info in game is still unchanged from 24 hours ago. "We will confirm the completion time as soon as possible." I guess their idea of soon is different from that of the player base, don't forget the game was already delayed before we arrived at this point, this is a quote from an acticle over a year ago "While racing fans will be disappointed by the news, [of it being delayed a year] the entire community would rather wait for a complete and perfect Gran Turismo 7 than suffer from poor performance and endless bugs."

You can't remember it that vividly, given that you could get any car in GT1 in one hour and any car in GT2 in 90 minutes.

In GT Sport that time was 10 hours. In GT7 it was 11 hours before the patch and nearly 18 hours after it. Grinding is now 1700% more of the game.

Ouch, cold. I've played every single one since I was 10. Maybe grinding it at 10 seemed more difficult back then.

Sadly its always been this way with PD. As long as I can remember official statements/announcements etc. have always been of the least possible and necessary amount.

Not going to quote the entire thing since I doubt anyone wants to see another wall of text about the subject but that was a very enjoyable read. I'm glad you posted. Even though I knew most of what you posted already, it was nice to be refreshed about it. :)
Thank you, wanted to shed some light on the matter to ppl who might not realize that games today have more than double of the amount of code in a operating system like Windows. So many moving parts it's bound for things to break on release. Granted unmovable deadlines really don't help.

I take it you're a developer or of similar profession??

Did this ever happen before in gaming history?
In terms of update errors causing an outage, Destiny 2 was down for 5 days a few months back because of issues caused by their new graphics engine.

However, unlike Polyphony, they kept players updated on social media and this was the reason they made the Forsaken campaign free to all players.

It's amazing how Destiny 2 is doing everything Gran Turismo 7 is attempting to do a lot better and without burning off their entire fanbase or completely destroying all faith in their brand.
