On this portion specifically:
"In GT6 we really had to tune the software 100 per cent to maximise the PS3's architecture..."
When I think about it (as business speak goes), that is probably as close to a criticism of the PS3's power being less than desirable for PD's graphic wants, as I've ever come across (could be wrong); usually you would read Kaz praising its power and complimenting it.

It's certainly on the official page, though I oddly needed to search for the hashtag and visit it through that to see it; going to the normal page only had the Mercedes as the most recent post.

Does anyone know how long it takes till we get gt6 (preorder)
That makes sense though - the PS3, in its day, was a power house of multi vector, parallel processing silicon. 7 years have passed and things have moved on. It would be as unlikely as him now praising the PS2 for its technical prowess, which was, in the day, very impressive and much praised.
I too could be wrong, but I remember a lot of pointing at the PS3 as the reason for many of GT5's shortcomings. I certainly don't get the feeling that I've seen other devs so often mention the "limitations" of a system; they just build to them. That 100% bit also sounds familiar from GT5 times, of that game pushing the system right to its limits, etc etc. I'll have to do some quote-digging :-/

"Speaking to VentureBeat, the Gran Turismo creator reckons the latest game in Sony's flagship racing series taps 'about 80 percent of the processing power' of the PlayStation 3, adding, 'the PS3 hardware has a very high peak performance. The better you manipulate it, the better it performs.'"

"With each new PlayStation, the vessel has become bigger, but it's still not enough."
Theres a difference in being a good system and it being enough. PS3 is not enough to give us 20 cars on track. Its not enough to do 1080P 60fps. Theres high limitations for that generation, but not enough to do everything he would like.No Slip, you're right as well, and my does Kaz love throwing around percents.
My interview memory doesn't seem to stretch very far post GT5. It seems that pre GT5 launch, Kaz was still praising the PS3:
However, near launch and beyond, he was saying things like this:
Theres a difference in being a good system and it being enough. PS3 is not enough to give us 20 cars on track. Its not enough to do 1080P 60fps. Theres high limitations for that generation, but not enough to do everything he would like.
PS3 could easily do 20 cars, just not with GT5 quality graphics.
+43 I was thinking the same thing. Only difference is the AI cars don't crab into the corners early, the AI know what a turn in point is.That guy in the radical was driving like a gt5 ai driver in the corners
Ascari is wider in the game than I thought. Homework for everyone!
