I think it's good that one person models one car. It sounds like a blacksmith forging a sword, it shows that each guy there is really very compromised with their work. :D

It's also neat to think about like each AMG engine being made by a single individual.

However, this isn't like buying a car with a hand made engine or a prestigious sword crafted by skilled hands. Having each GT6 car made by one person isn't going to have the same effect. There's no exclusivity in it because everyone who has the game has your work. It's more of a personal trophy you are proud of as the developer. Something you can tell someone with pride. It's pretty to say but do the pros really out way the cons? Does it really help the game that much?

Not to be that guy...but I was pretty close with what happened at the game show.

"I'm expecting about...45-50 minutes of advertising for GT6, then for them to announce that the new track was made using the course maker as a demo and that the track (but not the course maker) will be coming to the game for free in an update sometime in the next month. "

in the latest news :"As previously announced, it(new track) will be released in February, along with the Red Bull X2014 Standard and X2014 “Fan Car” models".
but we are not suppose to get the 2 rb in the latest rb x event next week???
so maybe next week we ll get the end of the rb event ; and at the beginning of feb, pd llgive us the 2 rb cars.
:)

I can't say how it helps the game itself and if it's the right or wrong way to do it. I just like their philosophy and how they work, it gives identity and personality to the game, I just admire them as a company.

Look at it this way, the person modelling the M4 probably misses out on building the Alfa Romeo/MX5 Roadster or next Ferrari or one of Senna's cars.

First it was January 1st, then "end of January", now some time in February. Looks like the January 1st thing wasn't a mistake/typo. They had actually planned for January 1st and messed up, and will continue to make false promises by the looks of it.
If they can't get a silly event together based on existing assets and formulas, then I'm terribly worried about anything more complicated... Like online... Not many days left in this month... And if it was nearing release I would think it would have been worth talking about in a presentation...?

  • Kaz says that he insists on the "One person, one car" policy, in which every single car (premium, I suppose) must be modeled by one person only, from top to bottom, so that each staff member can reflect the qualities of Shokunins (職人), which is closely defined as "Craftsman" or "artisan" in English (Now we know why they can't make every standard into premiums...they should just hire more people, I think).
I love Kaz, but he insists on wrong things. He remains in PS2 generation and doesn't want to accept changes in next generations.
I thought after GT5 (and GT6) he will consider some things, but now I haven't any hope... :(

“It goes back to a point I made earlier – there is definitely a lot of unfinished business on the PS3, and I urge you take a look back at the iterations of GT and GT2 side-by-side; the difference is amazing. You’ll see a similar step change between GT5 and GT6.

When Jim?

I'm not agree with you.
I understand your point of view which is PD are "artisan", they have identity and I like the way they are working ( 1 car = 1 developer ) all other things and at this point I'm agree with you this is nice
But when you analyze deeper the company without thinking about the game, PD are not able to respect their deadlines
and what they told.
So as a Company I can't admire PD.

Do you understand my point of view ?

Regards.
