I don't find this the least bit shocking since half of the city has poor roads and they plan on shutting power down to half of the city to save money. Very poor city with no money to fix things. Just speaking my opinion here.

The surface just looked awful to me; so many bumps, manholes and now this. They could have gone to any purpose built track in America; hell they could have even set up their own street course somewhere else on roads that don't drive like a cobbled alleyway from 16th century London.

Most of detroit is like what you saw because they have no money to fix roads better yet keep their city light at night.

I remember when on stopover to L.A, Detroit airport looked pretty neat and impressive although I never got to see the real Detroit though.

Back on topic, I suppose there's 15 runners as there is a pace car driver rather than the 16 runners which are shown in the preview.

I've seen many documentries on detroit but they probably show the worst parts to get the most viewers. I could be wrong chqr but thats all I've seen. I personally haven't been in detroit ever.

I would also be interested in trying to qualify for the indy race here too tom.

Awesome mate, will be a pleasure to have you. Here's the schedule for the week....

Tuesday - Freedom 100 (40 lap practice race) Normal times for us, room open 22:30BST (17:30 Eastern), Quali at 23:00BST (18:00 Eastern) and Green flag at 23:30BST (18:30 Eastern)

Wednesday/Thursday - Main Qualifying Session I'll have rooms open from about 22:00BST - 00:00BST (17:00 Eastern - 19:00 Eastern) on both these days for anybody to have a go at one of their three allotted quali runs.

Friday - Final Qualifying Session Final chance to qualify, room will be open from about 21:00BST - 22:00BST (16:00 - 17:00 Eastern)

Friday - The Main Event Room opens at 22:30 BST (17:30 Eastern) for an hour long practice. Green flag drops at 23:30BST (18:30 Eastern) for 200 laps.

EDIT: Chqr, we'll probably have 16 runners as we haven't had a pace car for most of the season now. More spaces the better anyway as I anticipate quite a few one off entries.

Tom
Could I partake in the 500 Tom?

Of course man, provided you can net a top 16 quali time :sly: Shouldn't be too hard, check out the sessions I posted above. Would be good if you could run with us on Tuesday to get acquainted with pack running.

I'm lost what are you guys talking about?

EDIT: I've been to Detroit and like every city there are the good areas and the slums but like 75% is slums the 25% that's good is like the financial/business district

I'll do my best to host a session or two this week, but with a busy week ahead it may be a little tough.

May have to do a little work to my car to secure qualifying with this many potential runners : nervous:

A field of 16 should make things simpler since there would be no wavearounds.

If guys want to qualify at times that the other officials aren't on, I will usually be available. Just send me a message on PSN saying that you're ready to qualify, and I'll jump in my lounge.

Don't forget that qualifying is a 4 lap single car race with your best time being counted (Tom: does this mean a single laptime, or an overall time for the 4 laps?) and you get a maximum of 3 attempts at this from wednesday to friday.

Altered my time to 8pm race start so it fits with final qualification for the 500.

An overall time for the 4 laps. I'll use a calculator to do the 'quali speeds' over the 10 miles.

Here's the final schedule for this week:

Indy 500 Week Schedule

Tuesday - Fight Before The 500 40 + 1 laps (Room up - 22:30BST | Quali - 23:00BST | Green Flag - 23:30BST
Wednesday/Thursday - Qualifying Sessions (Rooms open from 22:00BST - 00:00BST)
Friday - Indy Lights Firestone Freedom 100 - 40 + 1 laps (Room up - 19:00BST | Green Flag - 20:00BST)
Friday - Final Qualifying (Room open from 21:00BST - 22:00BST)
Friday - Indianapolis 500 Mile Race 200 laps (Free Practice - 22:30BST | Green Flag - 23:30BST)

So start time for qualification will be at the start of a double file 4 lap race, with one participant, and you want the overall time (in case I do any for other drivers)?

I'll also do my best to host a quali session when I can. I'm very free for the week just not on GTP as much as I would like because my phone decided to die (Parts in post) but will still try too check this as much as possible.

Transmission is as in the OP Joe, please remind participants of this.

Yes Knelly, full time for the 4 lap race is what I need 👍

I know you didn't mean right now, but I'm posting it here anyway.

Settings reminder:

Power - 848bhp
Weight - 710kg
Tires Allowed - Comfort Hard
Transmission - Reset transmission to default first, then set the max speed at the bottom to 236, then put your final gear at 4.212, and 7th gear at 1.366. Gears 1 to 6 can then be set however you want.

By the way, I'll do a rolling qualifying sheet using mph readings. For example...

You complete the 4 laps (10 miles) in 2 minutes, 41.7 seconds. Your qualifying speed will be 222.63mph.

Hell of a week. Im going to get some practise tomorrow. I'll be campaigning a white / blue FGT.
