Hope everyone had a great Christmas

Finally I've been able to get started on GT6, and indeed this qualifier. I just want to get something off my chest: I hate the handling of the BMW M3 GT (at least with its stock tune). It has ten thousand tons of understeer, until you try to accelerate out of a turn when, without warning, it explodes into a skid that is impossible to control. I couldn't imagine trying to run an endurance race in that thing.

Yeah, I'm currently running a session that's not going so well.
Merry Christmas Matthew

Glad to hear you're enjoying the BMW. 👍 Ali (@Sutuki) was having similar problems, as was I at first. All I'm going to say is, its actually not as bad as you think it is. I know, helpful, right? :dopey:

Hi I'm new to the wrs a few of the guys on my friends list have convinced me to sign up and do the qualifiers I have one question thou regarding the qualifiers does the fact that I run no abs no tc or aid of any kind have a bearing on what division you are placed or is it purely based on the lap times.
If any one could answer this it would be much appreciated.

Placement is based solely on lap times.

The only aids we're allowing on the qualifier are TCS, ABS and ASM. No other aids are allowed (i.e. Active Steering or SRF).

You'll find that most drivers here use ABS, most do not use TCS, and few if any use ASM.

So in a sense, you might argue...yes it does effect it in that not using ABS or TC gives you a different time to if you were to use them...whether that be faster or slower :sly:

Thank you for the reply and explanation of division placement

I guess I stick to using no aids finding I'm quicker with without using them

I'm enjoying these two. Can't say I find that much understeer in the Renault, have to agree the BMW is a lot like a caged beast, but after some of last year's WRS weeks (the Ford in Daytona or the Diablo at cape ring) a walk in the park.New physics model helps too, in my opinion the cars are easier to control under heavy throttle. But maybe its just me ;)

Itching to get back on the PS3 and find those final few tenths in the BMW, but we have family round so I can't 👎

Looking forward to running my qualifyer and participating in some events. TTs aren't my forte, but plan to run more wrs in 2014. Probably fit better in my crazy schedule.

Enjoy the holidays guys.

Hey all, merry post-Xmas. I hope everyone got what they wanted most!

I've only been able to sneak on for two 30 min stints on Willow, but the first one is a loss due to failure-to-set-grip-reduction! :banghead:

However, I was able to regain my time with the correct settings. I can still catch up to my ghost in certain areas so there's more to find. I haven't tried the Beamer yet.

I just caught up in this thread. So did you admins go through the Qualifier Blues, i.e. the Great Kevetch, for GT5P and GT5?

As a relative GTP newbie, I'd like to say that I am enjoying the challenge. Thanks for caring so much. You are dedicated like they read about.

Not really, but the scenarios were much different. Prologue was very limited and people were just excited to have something going on PS3. The qualifier and transition from GT4 were delayed. And then game physics changes forced a couple of updates to the qualifier.

GT5, we were limited by the game and what was verifiable. Some people might have complained, but the answer was simple - We used what is available to us and verifiable.

Anyhow, I'm sure after everyone gets over the shock of it and we move into weekly events, it will all be forgotten.

It may be that I'm just easily pleased, but I've got to say I'm as happy as a pig in 🤬 with the WRS and the qualifier. I don't get the chance to run as often or as much as I like, but the time trials suit my lifestyle as much as any hobby could and as such, I am eternally indebted to everyone that makes this possible.

That's just me though...

Hey skyline, glad you decided to join. 👍 Guess my advertising in the Seasonal TT threads is paying off. Looking forward to competing with you and just having fun in general. Great to have you aboard, I'm sure you won't be disappointed in your decision to join us here. Don't be afraid to ask questions as there is a lot of knowledgeable people here to help you out. Good luck on the qualifier.

4:20 am!

That's how addictive these qualifiers are!

Hope you're all having a good Christmas.

I just hope the ridiculous time I've finished on these will put me in good standing. :nervous:

:gtpflag:

Only tried the BMW, and not feeling it at all.
Is it sandbagging if I'm only doing it to be eligible for online WRS events?

You have a division in online events as well. Occasionally, that's used for starting order, on weeks where qualifying is not practical.

You should at least give the qualifier a reasonable effort, suggest you dedicate the same amount of time to each combo that you would to practice for a weekly online race.

Ok, sounds reasonable.

Wait so we can't submit our qualifier until that certain date is here and then were able to send it? Correct? I'm assuming so

Happy holidays everyone! Defintaly looking forward to wrs time trials!! Going to be awesome

Right. The programming for the Fetchbot to accept submissions is nearly complete, but is not done yet. Once it's complete, you'll be able to submit.

Thanks, sounds good! 👍

:cheers:Love the M3, not too keen on the Megane but rarely drive ff cars anyway. hopefully got my times now.... just waiting to submit when it opens :) Thanks to all the guys in the WRS and Merry Christmas everyone

Doing Brands Hatch now. Sometimes the fastest lines around the track are found by accident. :sly: 20 hours in on this one so far. Really liking the flow of the track. Great combo as the car and track seems like they were made for each other....a match made in heaven. 👍

Howdy Y'all! I'm back, again, and this time I actually plan on running the WRS every week if I can, I've simplified my life so I should have more time for this :). I too am loving these combos, that Beemer sure teaches partial throttle control! Thanks Kev for all your hard work, you da man .

Hey Guys! Hope you all got what you wanted for Christmas.

Sooo... I haven't missed anything yet eh? Cool!

I spent some more time on the second combo yesterday, and I realized I was trying to set fast laps right away, without even taking the time to learn the track first.

I took it slowly this time, managed to do some good clean laps and improved my lap time by about one second so I'm really happy about that. I still hate the car but I'm kind of liking the track a bit more now.

 I'm glad I'm not the only one with this understeer problem. The car would probably be better without the rear wing ;)

Sorry that we've not gotten back to you until now.

We typically only enforce pit line rules in our online events, not for time trials. As I believe others have pointed out, it's probably not the fastest way around the track to be crossing that line, but it IS allowed within the event rules. Just keep 2 tires on tarmac or red and white rumble.
Hi Mate
Thanks for the reply, I thought that might be the case but had to make sure after watching my replays and crossing it on all of them
Thanks Again
All the best

Hey Guys! Hope you all got what you wanted for Christmas.

ALAN!!!! Where the heck have you been mate? Happy new year and all that jazz, hope this is a sign of your return to the hallowed halls of the WRS, I've missed our little battles in the weekly TT's
