Can't remember last time I got into a TT like this, (maybe GTA 2011!) normally I struggle for motivation, I just put in a little bit of time and settle for a decent place or time but am quite enjoying this and am determined to do the best I can in both, (slightly premature New Years resolution prehaps)
Am looking forward to seeing the outcome at the end. :) but still more time to get off yet

Ran some laps on the Streets of W.S., my ears are bleeding. Praying that they don't enable the RA adjustment of BB until the submission deadline, so that I don't have to revisit this combo. I'm afraid this one's gonna be very tough on admins, so I'm gonna be gentle on them and submit a lap with plenty of margin for every corner.
 
Well, after several sessions of practice, I'm going to call uncle. I think I've squeezed just about as much as I could out of each car.

I'll send in my times when I can. It appears fetchbot is undergoing maintenance at the moment.
 
Hi all new to this but not GT. Keen to give it a go, got a g27 and already think I'm fangio so hopefully I live up to myself! From Australia if anyone is interested.
Anyway got some laps to do, speak soon!
 
Well talking of the R/A, i thought about last night. What if we all qualify without it and other who show up later can use it. Bandit was talking about halve a second a lap. I think with the RS you can gain even more. They will qualify higher then there potential be cause of this. Will be a shock for them once they gonna compete in the weekly TT's. It's nice to beat somebody that is in a division higher then you :lol:

No serious we might never seen them back. That should be a shame.

We are going to test it ourselfs once it's there and, if needed, adjust the cutoffs for div positions.
So you guys don't have to fear anything about being placed too low. Even with the R/A functions being enabled during this period (now untill 13th Jan, '14) rest assured, we'll do the necessary things.

You should've seen what we did when GT5's 2.0 patch came out. We did some extreme testing with several admins rerunning the qualifier in both 1.00 and 2.00. For almost two weeks, just to be sure. :ill:
 
Got myself GT6 as a late christmas present yesterday.:D
I couldn't wait to try the qualifier and I went straight for it after completing the first 2 events. They are solid choices in my opinion. The Megane at Willow Springs is very enjoyabe. It takes a bit of finesse and I like that. What I like about it as well is that when I do make a mistake, it's usually because of early/late braking. Instead of restarting, I'll just complete the lap and continue my run.
That's different from the continuous restarting I have to do when my car is pointing backwards in the sand at Brands Hatch again. Definitely struggling to hold my line there.

I wasn't going to spend a lot of time on the qualifier but it's too addictive. However I'd like to believe I'm within 5 tenths of my limit at each combo now. It has been a long time since I last participated in a race so it's difficult to know where I stand. Hopefully it's not too far back.

I have already said this in the stewards forum (or I haven't, can't remember), but thanks to all the stewards and admins for the testing, brainstorming, headbanging they have done for the past couple of months.:gtpflag:
 
Is fetchbot allowing submissions yet? I see a few tenths left in each combo, but feel I have ran enough now and enthusiasm to run more is not there..

@CSLACR The only way D5 guys will ever win races, is if enough D5 drivers signed up to race. If there was the demand for it, then it would happen but there simply isn't as many guys from say D4/5 as there is from D1-3. Those guys, generally speaking, are the ones that take the game a bit more seriously, and play more (therefore ranking up the divisions more).

We ran the Academy for a while and it had some good successes and more guys from the lower divisions were able to race amongst themselves. It was designed solely for that purpose to help the lower division racers become more confident on track and improve their driving. Why did it stop? Partly because participation dropped off to a point where it was a lot of work on behalf of the people running it for the amount of participation. I honestly don't think it's as simple as just having a larger sample size.

I think I'm going to submit as soon as Fetchy is up for it. I ran Willow again this morning and found the time I was looking for. Also tried BH again and didn't get close to my best from yesterday. I know there's two tenths left but I could chase it all month and never get it. I think the best way to keep my sanity is to submit so I can't continue trying to scrape time out of these.
 
@Cats_PJs , I'm having the same experience as you with Brands. Had another session earlier today to find a tenth I knew was there because of a scruffy first turn and found 3 tenths instead but now I know there's another 2 tenths out there :banghead:
 
Done with Willow...

After 4 days of family stuff over Christmas, I finally got some free time and had proper go at it yesterday (couple of hours) and got a lap I was happy with, which turned out to be dirty in the final chicane when I checked it :banghead: Jumped on again this morning and got within 0.1 on my 3rd lap... Even though I know there's a couple of 10th's left that's enough of that one for me!

Moving on to the BMW was interesting. 1st corner I drove off the track, quickly realising I didn't have to turn in 1km before the apex as in the Megane :lol: I'm close to an acceptable time, but will give this one another go.

You probably end up below your potential, be cause you can turn in at least 10 meter sooner :lol:

After a ridiculously frustrating 2h~ session at Brands Hatch I finally managed to get a clean lap and beat my PB by 2 tenths. While I still wouldn't call this a good lap, I think I'm done with this combo :ouch:.


I haven't spent much time on Willow yet, but I'm happy with my lap already. Might try it again tomorrow anyway, just for fun.
 
I'd like to be able to run another lap on brands and clean up the mistakes I made on my current best lap for a gain of probably 2-3 tenths. After that I'll probably experiment with some different lines and techniques to see if they are any faster before call it a day.

My lap is decent as it is I think, but I don't particularly like quitting when I know for certain there is still more time left if I could only get the lap in.

I think I've hit my fastest times already. I tried earlier (PSN strangely didn't log me in) and I simply couldn't get anywhere near my previous times. I'll give it another go soon again, just to be sure I can't find some milliseconds, though. :P

I completely agree on that, even if it's not my favourite combo.

I spent another 30mins on this, nailed the first two corners couple of times... that felt good 👍 I guess I'll give it another go tomorrow after all :D
 
Nearly done with Willow now, I'm sort of trying to put in around the same effort I would normally do for a WRS, on a personal level I usually find the time point quite early on target wise, and it's been the same I've done around 75 laps so far on willow and I'm pretty close to my goal time, just trying to put the final tenth together lol... Then it's brands hatch which sounds very fun from what I've been reading :)!

Haha, I could be going completely wrong in one part of the track though, which is why I love these hidden times! I may end up in Division Z on my own with a time so low that I missed something, or drove the desert for an hour ;).
 
Well I'm glad fetchbot not accepting times yet gave it a quick 20min session with my new wheel and took a huge 0.5 off my BH time sadly couldn't do same with willow but still improvement on one track is better than none at all
