Some kind of fluey, chest-infectiony thing is afflicting me, tomorrow is the last day that I can run a long-ish session, sectors are tumbling at Brands, creating bigger and bigger deltas between the possible and the matter-of-fact. (e.g. in English, I can't put a blimmin' lap together)

Where's that YouTube vid again, James? I should sit and have that on loop til I sort it....

...I submitted something I should be able to reproduce all the time, not a super lap.
This is where I'm at with the qualifier, I'm trying to run consistently fast laps and while I know there's a super lap to be had, it hasn't happened yet. After this weekend I will have given twice as much time as I normally would in a TT but that's because there are two combos to run so I am debating on submitting my times now even though I know I can probably go a little faster; would this be considered sandbagging? Once the time trials begin there may be some weeks where I run with guys who qualified higher than me because they spent more time on it now but at the same time, I run the risk of getting crushed on a weekly basis if I put in all of the extra time now.

No, that would not be sandbagging, you put in a good effort... grinding forever until you find every tenth on a magic lap will most likely lead to over qualifying... if someone chooses to do that, it's up to them and I'm not saying that's wrong, but all we ask is to give a decent effort.

Yeah, I always thought the general guideline was "spend as much time on the qualifier as you expect to spend on the weekly races."

... that said, I probably spent an extra 2 hours yesterday telling myself, "I can go a little faster, just one more run."

Started to chase an elusive couple of tenths this evening then stopped myself and submitted after realising that I had spent way too much time on these addictive combos.

Good luck everyone and thanks to the ALL the Admin staff for organising and arranging a couple of awesome combos

Have been struggling to improve on willow time, my fastest clean lap I had the insane T1&2 and lost .3-.35 towards the end of the lap, were as I've had a .16 faster lap with a very narrow clipping of the cone again, so after about .3 on there I'm done on there and back to brands. Haven't had much chance to play last week or so.
I'd be intrested to compare T1/2 splits on willow after the deadline with the top drivers as that lap I just can't reproduce the first two sectors or even get within .1 of.

Hope you don't @markyboy92 as that may well get you booted out of the WRS. :)

Submitted.

Ran out of patience with the BMW. But, I did what I could. Much more enjoyable at Willow and I think I pretty much hit my limit for that, maybe a tenth or so left but would of needed a miracle lap to get it all together.

I figure that if I put any more time in, I'd be over-qualifying. Besides, I need all the time I can get on Trial Mountain.

Submitted and accepted by Fetchy.

I'm pretty sure he was saying he enjoyed reading it. :boggled: Gave it a 20 out of 10 rating...

Thank you. I was unaware you could do that. Mystery solved. Thank you doodlemonoply for the compliment if that was the intent, appreciate it. You're still a little smartass though.

On another note, I guess I'm just going to go ahead and submit. Seems that some people are indirectly having something to say about all the time I've put into these so I'll just stop and submit. I know what the ramifications can be by over qualifying and like I said before, I'm really not bothered by it. The way I see it, its only going to make me better in the end if I do wind up in a division where I may not belong because then, I'll just have to run that much harder to keep up with my group. Either way, if I place low or high, I have a strategy for both scenarios. Anyhow, it just seems that I keep reading comments about time spent on these and I can only assume that they were made with me in mind since I'm the only one foolish enough to put in as much time as I have so I'll just submit now and move along. Its my fault anyways I guess for spilling the beans about the time I've spent on these. I just wanted the admins here to know just how dedicated I am to the WRS and how hard I work to do the best I can. Whether it be a qualifier or the actual event, I'm always giving 100%. I just want to represent the WRS in the best way that I can. Sorry for the "wall of text", seems I have gotten carried away again. Peace and I'll see everyone on the track for the first event, really looking forward to it.

 No worries man. I love the amount of dedication you put on to these time trials. It's really inspiring to all of us.

Thank you Andrew, that means a lot. I really appreciate it when my fellow competitors/fellow racers take notice of my dedication. Like I said, I only want to represent the WRS in the best light that I can. Its chasing people like you around all day that is what is going to make me better in the end. 👍 Thanks again Andrew, and thanks also for putting yourself out there for me to chase. One of these days I'll catch you, (and the other aliens) and then I'll know all my hard work will have paid off. :) Stay fast kid.

Even thou I'm new to the WRS I have to say cargo the amount of time you have invested in to the qualifier has been a motivation for me to find that little bit extra and invest a little extra time in to it.

Just waiting for results of my times to see if I've matched my expectations is kinda frustrating but where ever I end up I know I'm in good company with the gtp community.

Mitch, I don't think anyone who's been in WRS for any amount of time thinks you're putting in more effort than you should. We all know you are extremely dedicated and motivated to run crazy amounts of time in every tt you compete in. Just do what you do and enjoy.

Good evening Gentlemen and a very Happy New Year to you all. Great to see WRS up and running for GT6.

I gave the qualifier a good go I feel - very challenging combos, well chosen I think. 👍 Submitted tonight for better or worse anyway. So hard not knowing where you are on pace.

Hopefully I will get a few more events in than I did on GT5. Good luck to all and see you when we all graduate.

Welcome back, C.

Don't follow? Afterwards I said, when it's finished I.e times will be released
Afterwards, as in after GT7 is out. We don't publish the times or time cutoffs until the next game is out. We will publish the times for GT5's qualifier soon. ;)

Ahhh sorry , of course, it's been a while, I forgot it was placings shown and not times as well, although placings will give a good indication.

@ skyline1683 Thanks my friend, I appreciate it. Even though I'm no alien and can't help people in that regard, if I can inspire and motivate other's to do their best, then that puts a smile on my face and makes me feel good that I am able to help in that way. I know you'll do well here and look forward to the fun times ahead.

@ Cats_PJs Thanks for the kind words my friend, appreciate it. I'll admit, I may go overeboard sometimes with my time spent on these events, but that is just me and who I am. If I can squeeze even the smallest amount of time out of a combo, well I'm gonna go till the very end, trying to get it. If I don't go all out guns a blazing, well I just don't feel like I have given it my all. Hopefully one day it will all pay off. Anyways, thanks for the thoughts friend, looking forward to the fun times ahead.

I wish I could put in more time, but it just is too hard on these Old Bones. Much respect for your efforts Mitch!!

Pretty much done with both combo's.
Allthough I'm not very happy with my current 'Beemer' lap.
It feels like the car's handling is different every lap .
Sometimes it's a real struggle, and a couple of laps later I suprise myself by driving it in a more relaxed way,and gain a couple of tenths on my own ghost.
Seems that finding the balance between 2 driving styles is the hardest part at this moment.
