The commitment displayed in this thread so far is inspiring! 👍 And the heartbreak over blown laps is tragic. I feel your pain.

Last week I had some time after the parity races to work on BH. It was a sharp learning curve, but the parity races helped me learned the track a bit (that was a great event:cheers:). By the end of the session I had identified my goal and came to within .10s. I put it away when I started getting sloppy trying to beat my ghost. Wrong frame of mind.

I didn't have too much time over the week, so I did some seasonals and worked on my S license. I was able to get all but the last one until Sunday. Ran that thing over and over. and over. and over.:banghead: But I finally got gold!

I went straight from this high to Willow. I had reached and reset my goals two times. I was .05 from my goal and spent two hours chasing it.

Just when I started thinking 'Maybe I set too high a goal' and after a third 'One more lap, then I'll stop...', I got the lap I had been trying to put together and beat my goal by .3s! So I'm done with that one now.

Now to put together that last .10s at BH.:D

So i submitted but the BH seems to be incorrect. can somebody check? I was pretty sure i had the specs correct, but probably overlooked something.

Sorry for the trouble:embarrassed:

I guess whoever enter at this moment or even entered in the last few days won't go to the finals. I probably won't but I'm ok with it. I think the ideia of the contest was nice but the like system wasn't the best ( a lot of people gave likes in the first days and never opened the thread again).
I give total permission of use of the shots I submited though. :)

Well, for better or worse, I have finally submitted and submission has been accepted. Overall not happy with my submission, but it is what it is now and wherever I end up, I'll just go from there. Good luck to everyone still chasing time, look forward to when the real fun starts. :sly:

@Racingworld68: (Frank ??) If you still wanna meet up on a track somewhere and just have some fun, I guess I'm ready to take that next step, just don't expect much is all I have to say. Go ahead and pm me a time that's good for you and we'll go from there. Look forward to meeting you and we'll see if I can't get over this next hurdle. :scared:

Like a lot of areas in life the early bird has a better chance to get the worm. We look for realism in our events, why not this one too. :sly:

Which is why I put up the reminder. People can visit it now and finish their review and make additional likes or remove likes as they see fit right up until the deadline. Plus, the like system is only for the preliminary round to pick the top 10 which is not to pick the winner. All 10 finalists will get equal opportunity to influence the voters.

But really, the format wasn't chosen to optimize the "fairness of competition" to be honest, but rather to maximize the fun factor and provide a light diversion to the grind of running laps. We could have had people submit privately and reveal all at once, but it was more enjoyable (for me at least) to see photos pop up almost daily and that allowed me to enjoy each photo on it's own and anticipate the next. If someone posts a photo with 10 minutes to go they aren't going to advance, that's true, but that doesn't mean the community won't enjoy their work.

I got this message when i submitted my files:

"Your replay bcjs37016-rply001.zip contravenes the regulations for this event.
Contact the staff before submitting again so you know which setting contravenes the regulations."

Oh maaaan, first i got a message that Willow Springs was not included, that i had NOT submitted 1 M3 file and 1 Megane file. So i just resent it again couse i thought i messed somethíng up when copying the files from my PS3.

And now a got a message from Vagabond that the Grip Reduction not was set to "Real" in the Megane event.

And now i've submitted 2 times already. :( Is it possible for me to do the Megane event again and send a correct file? Ive been working for hours with this :(

Hold that thought and I'll get back to you shortly. And please keep this conversation to PM from hereon.

I've finally run laps on both combos and have laps I'm happy with both. I will run a few more sessions and see if time is falling off easily or if I'm really struggling to beat my ghosts. Both combos are nice but it's really hard to go back to Megane after running laps on racing hards at Brands Hatch. Nice job by the administrators.👍

After 100+ hours I hope you end up where you wanted :D

Thanks. I'll be content wherever I end up I suppose. The only drawback is that its going to be pretty embarrassing if I don't place well after putting in that much effort. :embarrassed: Having said that though, and thinking about what others have said here, its not like where I place is a one shot, written in stone ordeal. The real fun and challenge is yet to come. :sly: I went from D4 Bronze to D2 Bronze in GT5 so I'll just have to do it again in GT6 if that's the case. Thinking about it, it was a lot of fun moving up through the ranks, so there is that. Anyhow, good luck to you also, hope you place to where you were aiming.

Well, i'm done, going to submit tonight.
Spent a lot of time on both tracks, i'm not aiming high, just want to see where i am.
I'm satisfied anyway, a lot of time i was like "this is my limit ok" but i was wrong and i surpassed it multiple times.

Mine went in yesterday, never got near my lap time at Willow after i set it and Brands was just reset after reset .
Thanks to the admin and all involved with getting this up and running
All The Best

My files are submitted and accepted now.

I prolly could have shaved of some more time but i just don't have the patience to driver more. I'm pretty satisfied though. This is my first time doing this, it will be fun to see where i stand. :)

Thanks to the admins!

OK, that's it. Mirroring what most people are saying, I'm now submitting although I do have a feeling... no, let me rephrase that: ...although I have no feeling whatsoever how good I'm going to be.

Willow feels like I did all I could, but the replay looks s-l-o-w (and not in a Top Gear: Star-in-a-reasonably-priced-car "slow is good" sort of way), Brands Hatch I actually know that I could be faster, but I spent the last two days doing about 160 laps on it and got 0.04 out of it (but I did get quite good in catching a 360 spin and continuing without invalidating my lap).

I was perfectly placed in the GT5 WRS at Div 3 Bronze and still beat myself that I stopped attending at some point due to life circumstances, so whatever this is going to get me I'm not going to stop this time. Hopefully.

Well, the good thing is, we're not going to know how we did in each of the events, so I have until GT7 to believe that the M3 cost me my Div 3 rank. ;-)

Submitted, not sure where I end up, but I feel pretty good about both laps. Without seeing what strategies better drivers used these are as good as I can do.

The qualifier photo contest is now in the final round. Cheers to the pictures that made the cut and thank you to all who submitted a photo or participated by liking the photos.

In order to add a poll to the thread we had to merge the old thread with a new one that had a poll, so if you were watching the old thread, that setting was lost and you'll have to watch the new one:

GTP_Registry Qualifier Photo Contest (Finalists Announced)

The OP and [current] last post of the new thread has a list of the finalists as well as instructions.

I have a question: In the first corner (left) of the 2nd sector of BH/BMW I have 1 tire IN the red/white kerb and 3 tires off. Is that considered out or in?

I'm a DS3 user and I spent almost 2 hours to get that lap... It's terrible hard to catch the BMW when it touches a kerb or grass. -.-'

Unfortunately that's a dirty lap, I had to discard quite a few laps because of that corner as well. But you have to have two tires in contact with the red and white kerbing for it to be legal :)

At least two tires in contact with track at all times.
  • In situations where contact with the track is not possible because tires are airborne (above the ground), then the run is only legal if at least two tires would have made contact with the track if the car were not airborne

Thanks! I'll try again tomorrow. ;)

I know I can cut a 0.2s to my actual lap time. But with DS3 is a nightmare to put all sectors together. GT5 was a lot easier with pad...

This 2 TT will count as 1 to the definition of the leaderbords? For example if I make a 1:30 and a 1:40 the final calculation will pick both times and divide them for 2?
