This 2 TT will count as 1 to the definition of the leaderbords? For example if I make a 1:30 and a 1:40 the final calculation will pick both times and divide them for 2?
Correct - your combined time will be used to calculate your handicap which will determine your initial divisional placement.

Hmm ok. I have to work on SoWS then... My time is pretty bad (at least I imagine you guys are fast as hell) :D

Submitted and accepted! :)

Didn't get a chance to spend hours and hours on it, but I am happy with my lap times so will see where I end up!

How and where will i be able to see my rankings when the event is done?

Until one of the Admins give you a better answer I'll take a stab at what I think will happen. Your eventual ranking and handicap score will be shown in this table > here <

The table is unstructured at the moment but will eventually be ordered into the 5 main divisions ( 1 through 5) and the sub-divisions (Gold, Silver and Bonze). You should be able to see your relative performance in the table by looking at your handicap value as compared to others within the same division/sub-division (basically, a lower handicap value means a faster qualifier). Note: you will NOT see your actual times!

Not sure where the qualifying announcements will be made but it'll be in this forum somewhere :D

Hope I haven't given any incorrect information here 👍

Last run at Willow springs tonight and then it's submission time for me. I've gone over what I thought was possible, target time wise - as well as over in terms of total time what I would normally put in, particularly at Brands Hatch. I want to be in D1, basically, don't mind if I am the slowest each week - it will be my mission to beat the D2 guys at the very least :-)

Matt

...it will be my mission to beat the D2 guys at the very least :-)
Haha, that was basically my goal when I got time to participate in GT5. I couldn't get near the fastest guys in my own division, so I did my best to beat the Div 3 guys, and generally failed at that. Then my goal was to be not last in div 2. And failed at that a few times :(.

My thoughts exactly. If we both make d1 I'll race ya for last.

I don't have a clue where I'll stand. Are there any DS3 users in D1 or D2?
Yes, of course and a couple of them very fast indeed. We had a few WRS events in GT5 in which the overall winner was a DS3 user.

You're not supposed to have a clue where you stand though ;) - the purpose of the qualifier being secret is you are running at your own pace, testing yourself only against your own skill, patience and available time. Seeing other's splits, as we do in the normal weekly events, the temptation is to just keep chasing the guys ahead of you. In the qualifier, running against your own ghost gives a more reasonable account of your overall skill without spending more time than you usually would.

So... is this ranking used as a qualifier for future online events or is it just for fun?
It is to categorize people of the same abilities together. This way you can compare yourself with those that are in your division in the Time Trials and/or in the Online Events.

And my aim is to qualify D2 Gold and keep you both honest :sly:

Not sure why I clicked the "like" button on @millross and @Cats_PJs posts as I used to be one of those D2 runners that they both seem so eager to trounce, hope I can still claim to be one of the unwashed but somehow I doubt it. In GT5 I qualified using my DS3 then bought a T500RS and was humiliatingly slow with it so went back to using the DS3. This time I have banned myself from using the DS3 and ran my qualifiers using the wheel.....hope I haven't slid too far, would be good to help you keep those two speed monkeys honest :D

When I hear people are spending 20 or 100 hours on the qualifier, it makes my measly effort of 90 minutes so far feel inadequate. I know, I know ... it's supposed to be relative to what time I'll be spending later on, but that doesn't save me from having a bad conscience for not putting more of an effort in. Only got myself to blame though.

Anyway, my experience in the time I have spent on it so far, is that I seem to be approaching a certain time asymptotically and just when I start thinking progress comes to a halt, I accidentally do something "wrong" and end up doing a quicker sector, so I know I can do better and can't stop until I actually do on the whole lap. So I'll think I'll do one more session with the M3, because it's so much fun to drive and because I've been 2 tenths up in the first sector alone, only to lose it in Surtees again every time. And if I slip down the ranks, I'll just have to run more TT's to get back to my previous division.

There was a time when I could almost keep up with Matt but not anymore. Not sure I’ve ever been able to keep up with Baron *goes off to trawl the results looking for at least one example*

Jon, I'm not sure what your search will turn up, but I remember using your times as a benchmark when I joined this magical place. :)

Beat them both in the same TT but I know I'll never ever achieve that again :D

Nice work young Jedi. Suspect I may have to go further back!

I guess desperate times called for desperate measures Baron. It's definitely the other way around now 👍

EDIT: Found it!!! Week 46 and week 54 were clearly my finest hours  and both times I had to run D1 times to beat you both :mischievous: Don't see that happening again any time soon...

How do I base the amount of time I spend on a TT or the Registry qualifier?

If real life doesn't get in the way this is what I try to do... It usually turns out to be 4 to 8 hours, I have done enough TT's (120 or so) to know when I have hit my limit. I keep track of my fastest splits and try to put them all together in one lap.

Every once in a while I hit a miracle lap and feel like an alien! http://wrs.gtplanet.net/GT5/results/48/ Well an alien in training maybe, I knew it was a waist of time to continue after that lap! But usually once I feel I have hit my limit I will step away from the wheel for a bit (an hour or a day or two) and try again.

It is very hard to judge with the qualifier not having others splits to see how I am doing. It seemed every time I came back to the wheel I improved considerably. That has stopped however and I consider myself done with these two combos. Everyone reaches their limits at their own pace, so I guess what I am trying to say is please don't judge yourself against the amount of time I have spent, approx 20 hours. Others have spent more time than I have, but I know I am done. Submitting today!!!

On to the GTP WRS-Online race for this week

Race on!!!!

Well at least I won't be in D2 this time :)

@millross @CarlosFandango @Argon @Cats_PJs

Guys... what if I end up qualifying in Div 2 again.... :nervous:

I'm going to hand in my replays tomorrow, I've had a good crack at it. I'm here for clean online races so I'm not too fussed which league I'm in. Fingers cross my entry works first time!
