I'll join you in a few...

EDIT: I've confirmed for tomorrow, and I will be one of the stewards in the B room. I'll post to this thread when GTP_3D3_B is open for joining.
We will most likely have mics-disabled for both rooms.

Mics have been disabled in both rooms already. So if anyone jumps in between now and the race the mics will be off by default.

Really enjoyed q today... apart from the dc's, see you all tonight :) good times everyone.

Very professional hosting in room a wrp mate

Thanks. Hope your connection holds up.

As soon as the remaining reserve drivers confirm or cancel we'll publish the room splits:
  • Calcifer
  • RacingWorld
  • Vinal_Monkey

Assuming we don't get any cancellations from confirmed drivers we're at 22 with Lucas meaning the top 13 qualifiers will race in room #1. At this poitn that would put Peir on pole of room #2... but things may change between now and race time. Will publish the final splits about 2 hours prior to race time.

Q3 was D1 dominated... Who says the handicaps aren't accurate?
I guess that would be me ;)

I should be good to race today. Looking forward to it!

Yeh you did amazing! 👍 Shame about the penalty. Make sure you keep it 100% clean today!!!

Ill change your status on the Registration doc to confirmed :).

Were only waiting for Vinal to confirm if he can make it now.

Hey guys, I was just wondering if we should maybe start at 4 min instead of 3 the two times I have done the formation lap something has gone wrong and it is really close with making it on the grid in time. I think moving it to 4 min would be a wise move and not get people stressed and make mistakes.

I am ok with that. It's a longer track and we did see issues in the practice race. Let's do it. 1 minute is worth the effort.

Some family have just told me they are coming over at about 6:30 GMT tonight which means unfortunately I can't race. I will change my status on the registration. Apologies if this messes up the room numbers.

GTP_3D3_B is open, with Mika, Frank, and I getting some early practice.

Feel free to join.

Sorry guys, I can't make tonight I've had a few too many beers.

Was looking forward to it but real life got in the way.

Room and Grid Assignments:

20130825_gridassignments-2.png

Note that any further cancellations from drivers in room A will not change the room assignments. However, if there are additional cancellations from drivers in B at this point we will have to start shifting drivers over from A to B starting with Peir. Let's hope nobody else drops. With 1 hour to go the rooms/grids are frozen so nothing will change after that.

Also note, that the races are going to start at 4 minutes (instead of 3) on the race clock to give more time for the formation and grid placement.

Both lounges are open and feel free to join. Please join the lounge at least 15 minutes prior to the race start. We are starting on time as always. If you are late feel free to watch the race on the stream. :sly:

Here is the race stream:

I can't race today, I have a street dance studio booked for tonight, sorry everyone.

Sorry Peir, but you have moved from room #1 to pole position in room 2 with this cancellation. I will post an updated image shortly. The splits will be 12/10 between rooms.

EDIT:

20130825_gridassignments-2.png

This locks in with 1 hour to go until race start (10 minutes from now) and no changes will be made regardless after that point.

EDIT: Room assignments are now final. No changes so go ahead and report to your assigned lounges.

In B, we've got everyone except Rocket.

I just saw Rocket sign in. We are missing 3 2 1... TamHablo, Gazzi, Matthew.

It's 15 minutes to the hour... drivers should be joining lounges now.

I'm going to stress again... We aren't waiting for anyone, even the pole sitter. Be in the lounge or watch the feed.

Fantastic racing everyone, don't forget you can check out the replay at the above video linked by WRP or at my channel (link in sig).

Great race everyone in the A lounge. I really enjoyed it even if I did have a few spins in the 1st stint, which ruined my race. If only....

I did a 3 stop. First pit was on lap 13. Then 23 and 34.

At one point before my 2nd stop gmmatthew was overtaking under my slipstream. He went down one side, to my right if I remember. I gave him a nudge but I thought he was going to go past faster that what he did, and I tapped him. My apologies to matthew for this. It was my mistake and should have known better. Then on the last lap Hasslemoff managed to get past after following in the slip for many laps. He slowed down too much for the S-bend near end of sector 2. I hit the back of him, probably going too fast under the circumstance. He then pulled over on the line and let me take 9th place.

I think you should swap the place back. Put me in 10th and moff in 9th. It was my mistake hitting him in the first place. He didnt have to pull over and let me beat him. Its the fairest thing to do IMO.

Other than that and going wide a few times in the 1st stint I think I had a clean race. If you stewards want to penalize me for anything I understand.

Anyway. Here is the video from my stream of the race. Enjoy.

See you in Italy 👍

No worries, I'd just call it a racing incident. You were doing a great job of defending, try as I might I couldn't get past and stay in front until you pitted.

I'm annoyed about spinning off twice, without those spins I could have perhaps challenged for fourth. My strategy of 16/14/14 in retrospect wasn't great as I spent far too much time on the inferior hard tyres, it probably would have been better to do something like 8/12/12/12. Still, sixth place is not to be sniffed at.

Congratulations to Ben for the win 👍

Was a very fun race for me too... Wanted a slightly better result, but happy with the battles and not a single incident for me in the race... never created an issue or received one... never even had to catch the car from a potential spin even once. :boggled:

I was just hounded from behind the first 4 laps so I threw my well thought out strategy in the trash and decide to pit after 4 race laps to get rid of the hards and get some open track. Really, I just wanted the open track for a couple laps. I had one and then Hasslemoff decided to pit and come out right behind me and pass me under draft on kemmel. There goes my clean air and my strategy and it was so early I kind of locked myself into 4 stops. :dunce:

The 2nd stint wasn't great performance-wise... A few guys pitted a few laps later off their hards, but by battling hasslemoff I really didn't gain anything on my tires and now they were on fresher softs and still all around me. :scared:

I pitted after 10 laps on softs and finally had some clean air... after one lap to breath I started knocking off low 1'43s pretty consistently and made up some places. I was a bit off kilter with the rest of the field so had long periods of open track and even sniffed the draft of a few of the top 5 a few times.

After my final stop on lap 35 I came out 8th with Porsche and Matthew in sight. I had much fresher tires and caught up with Porsche about 5 laps to go. With the draft I just couldn't lose him and we went back and forth for 4 laps until I finally broke free. I was closing fast on matthew there and one more lap I might have had 6th. There was a lot left in the tires, but nothing left on the clock. I put in 5 liters too much fuel or else I might have come out between the two and 6th was in play.

But happy with 7th and 6th was about the best I could have hoped for. Thanks for the guys who raced me clean and fair the entire race. The draft is completely ridiculous, but we all knew what it was when we signed up... it's just a different sort of race and still a lot of fun. No sense blaming your own mistakes on a game... we were all dealt the same cards and some of you played them better than me and some of you didn't. That's racing!

:gtpflag:

PS> The start and few first laps were beautiful... all those cars going so fast and so close and not an incident until lap 4 (or 3 maybe)... and nothing caused by contact that I could see for the first 5 laps. I'm going to upload a quick and dirty video of the first 5 laps... 3 different views... impressive stuff.

Excellent race tonight one of the best races I've had in a long time, very good start as you say WRP very professional... could of got a slightly better start but I think Matthew had someone to his right because I was on his left and he moved over to me and left me no choice but to hit grass a little and brake. Was having a good couple of battles but really few and far between. Me and spurgy were battling for a few laps for 1st at the time when I slightly cut Malmedy and I spun! was absolutely gutted, it ended up costing me around 10 seconds Which is what I finished behind him overall :banghead:

Overall fantastic race Great fun and I'll be seeing you at Monza :)

Looking forward to that Video WRP, Well done everone

First off, let me say this was great! From the practice, Knockout Qualification, to the great race. All of these racing series are awesome, so thank you.👍

But, now to say I'm sorry to Jammy, Ren and Wes. I wish my first video was of some great battles, but this is on my mind , and I need to get it out of the way.

As you'll see, I am coming around the end of Blanchimont into a smoke screen, I should have lifted but didnt.:banghead:
When I came out of the smoke I didn't realize Jammy had just spun and not up to speed. I slammed the brakes,(Too late) hit Jammy and ended up in the grass to the left, then the car uncontrollably darted to the right and flew straight thorough the middle of the bus stop chicane, shoving Wes nose first into the wall, and knocking Ren side ways.:guilty:

(Please excuse the quality, still trying to figure it all out.)

I do try hard to keep it clean and not mess up other peoples races, so I am embarrassed and very sorry guys.

Well, this isn't a proper video production really, just 3 different views of the first 4-5 insane laps. I got distracted today, but hope to put together more of a highlights video tomorrow.

That was hard for me too, because i should be have been more patience with my pass of Vampire and we made contact which endup with hard crash and i hit also with Lucas (Gravitron).
All happen so fast that i had no idea what exactly happen. I had watch replay over and over again (sent some PM with Lucas). I think you didn't hit me at all so no problem there.
I need to apologize my driving and not been patience enough with passing especially beginning of the race. My action cause lot more actions and more crashes :scared:

Anyone know why I can watch any of the posted videos on this page? Was keen to see some of the action!

They all say 'this video is currently unavailable'

Official results from the Grand Prix of Belgium!

Combined Results:

20130825_F1Spa_Results_Merged-1.png

The top two drivers from Room #2 finished faster than 9 and 10 in the main lounge so they capture those valuable championship points. If this were real F1 that would be worth millions to their teams. Here you just get a point or two, but still OK right!

Individual Room Results:

20130825_F1Spa_Results_Room-1.png

Updated Points Standings:

20130825_F1Spa_Results_Points.png

Penalties:

We did not hand out any penalties this race. Great job overall guys. The start and first few laps were very professional (in room #1 at least where I was).

There were a few moments and a few too many overruns at Pouhon from a few, but it did not meet the threshold of a penalty. There was only that one corner of concern at Spa... if that rate continues at Monza and you add all the other places there where a cut can gain time, there will be penalties handed out. 5-6 cuts during a 44 lap race at one corner during a race is one thing, but that rate of cuts multiplied by several corners at Monza will get the stewards attention and warrant penalties so keep it on track.

Gazzi, you will be receiving a PM in the next day or so regarding a few moments. We appreciate your candor in your apology after the race and we are confident, because you told us, that you'll drive with more care in future races. You get to keep your 9th place finish and hasslemoff has no problem with that, however note that had you scored points we probably would have taken them away... but onward and upward.

Post Race Ceremonies:

Congratz to Spurgy on his first WRS-Online Victory! 👍

Registration is open as well as the practice board.

Lounge B (GTP_3D3_B) has been set with Monza as the default track and mics-enabled.

EPIC POST, Tim. 👍

Congrats Spurgy on what looks to have been an epic battle!
Well done Bart and JB on the podiums. :)

And a pat on the back to everyone, there was a lot of great driving that I saw personally, and now in videos as well. :gtpflag: It really could have gotten ugly with this car, but lots of people showed up to the lounges early and got comfortable.

Have to thank my race engineer Tim, for the 3 stop strategy that dumped the RH tires after 7 race laps. I really surprised myself by only making about 3 or 4 mistakes, none of them costing me more than a couple seconds. The contact mentioned above by Joel being one of those, but that was pretty unavoidable.

The end of the race was tense as I saw Mika catching me lap after lap, but I somehow managed to stay just out draft reach.

Great driving RedParty and Joel as well, you guys did well to earn your points. 👍
