Yah, let's run a few practice starts and short races today. The race last week was pretty much carnage... not so much in the first turn, but the first few laps I was collected in a few incidents. The cold hard tires catch guys off guard I think... in this car, you try to give an inch to stay safe and 4 guys race by you... it's a tricky balance.
Important notice/reminder on track boundaries for Spa:
In the F1 car most of these boundaries aren't much of a problem. It's pretty easy to make Eau Rouge and Blanchimont cleanly, unlike with other cars, and the other areas will bite you badly if you run off with this car so there isn't much to gain.
The one major area of concern is Pouhon, which can be taken wide easily with this car without penalty and will gain you time.
The stewards will be watching the replay and viewing laps from *every* driver on that corner so keep it clean. If we see a pattern of abuse expect to receive a penalty. We're looking for frequency of abuse, how far you run off and potential gain from abusing the boundary and any penalty will be relative to those factors. By gain, it's not just limited to gaining a position, but using the runoff to stay in a drivers draft or dropping a driver from your draft.
If you find yourself running very wide don't repeat it. If you go slightly off, but several laps in a row, make sure to break the pattern. We're not going to penalize for one or two mistakes in the race.
We won't have a replay for qualifying since it's run in free mode, but there will be eyes about. We issued penalties in the last race for track abuse during qualifying and will do so again if it's observed.
