Thats correct,I was at that also, made it to the last two.

Weird, I was too! I was only 13 years old. The only problem was I qualified on a ps1 with a pad and the final was on ps2 with a wheel. I failed pretty bad :) Great experience thought. Jordan car and everything - It was very well run. Hopefully this is similar!

I believe

meagainstyou [PT]

is missing still from the list .. 👍

edit, oh and did

GTP_DHolland [AU] make it?

:P

 Was your Mum and Dad with you?..I remember talking to some young lads Folks and they where saying that their youngster was in the comp, but he played it on ps1 and with the Pad.It was a Free drinks at the bar type of Gig:tup: Only you would have been on the soft stuff back then :D.I got some cool prizes for coming 2nd,A Gran Turismo wheel,300 Quids worth of Vouchers for Game, and a playstation bag with GT key rings and other bits.

Its a shame, i cant see why they cant let 14+ or 16+ it wouldnt make any difference atall, you would be in formula 1 at 14 if you were good enough? i spose they dont wont some nissans in the wall at silverstone:sly:

Well I can sort of understand. Stuff like organising plane flight and accomodation by yourself would be tough for some kids. So I think that's part of it. Sort of sucks a bit as the national age for driving race cars in Australia is 14. Currently in the Formula fords and F3 down here there is a NZ driver who is 15 and he came 2nd in the Formula Ford's. So it can be done, but it's all political stuff I suppose, that's the reason I'd imagine.

Exactly what he said, I know that myself and Jas12n can't enter as we're both under age. So that puts you in doesn't it? :)

Haha heart skipped a beat when I read your post!, but then to be back to crossing my fingers when I read the reply a few down from it afterwards :scared:

Has anyone in Australia got confimations yet? Here's still hoping :)

Dessy - Theewar,

were either of you at the 2004 final, for the 350Z?

Was that the Bedford autodrome gt4 thing? I came 2nd, missed out on the car by volunteering to drive a truck across two logs. Missed out by a few points. Went fastest in the z that day too.

Any in the uk heard anything yet? Still nothing here.

haha yeah that was me alright. To be honest the whole thing was very overwhelming for me at the time, but non the less was a great experience. I wasn't disappointed either which was good.
Yeah I got the ps2 bag with keyrings and zone of the enders (with mgs2 demo). God it really was a long time ago wasn't it! And funnily enough I am just back from a lecture here in college and I'm using that very bag to carry my stuff around.

@Rorschach - No what was that for? Gran Turismo 4 yeah? I think I remember it but I didn't have broadband at the time so I couldn't hook my ps2 up and post times.

Do you know if they have finished sending invitations now? Has anyone who finished 20 - 30th positions recieved an invitation yet?

Finally got my invitation:)

Guy's I would like to run an Idea by you's :nervous:
The thing I would like to see done in each country for the upcoming Finals is a(10or20min)Practice session for all Contestants before the event starts,This is to give us all a chance to get a feel for the setup they have laid on.I Feel that this is not a lot to ask of the people running the event,It was done in the F1 comp that was held and also done in the WRC comp.Contestants where given a short time to get a feel for the setup and Perhaps Adjust them selfs to the, (for some)new Enviroment they are in.I know a lot of the guys who done the last (GT ACADEMY) felt a bit of time on the stage setup would have allowed them to perform a lot better than they did,Please note I am not taking away from the guys who won The Nationl Finals of their countrys, this I am sure would have been the same outcome no matter how long we got on the Stage setup. All I am saying is it can be a bit of a shock to the system to hop straight in to the drivers seat and do your best, when up to that point it was you in your front room or bedroom, and now theres a few more things going on around you,T.V Cameras, lots of onlookers and so much more noise.I plan on getting there an hour Early so I can talk to whom ever is in charge, and I hope my fellow Irish men can do the same.I think as a group we should talk to them and ask for this 10-20mins Practice time.

Thanks for Reading :)

That doesn't seem like a bad idea, but perhaps the fact that you are under pressure to perform from the very start and have to adapt quickly is something they want to see and something they would value in the winner. Personnally I think it won't make much difference to the final outcome, as long as everybody has the same opportunity then I'm happy :) What I think would be a much better idea is for them to give the 20 finalists of each country the CES demo to take home so that the 19 loosers can have a bit of a consolation prize, now that would be nice!! ;)

yeah getting some sort of practice is something I hope to do. Usually when I sit down to play at home it takes a good bit of time to get back the feel of the car anyway (well with the GT5 demo anyway - not so much with GT5P).
Getting adjusted to a new environment, possibly being a different distance from the screen and being in a different chair are all small things that will make a big difference. I guess showing up an hour before you are supposed to would be no harm.

this is mainly for the irish contestants but possibly everyone. i asked if normal control pads can be used at the finals or will it be run on wheels only. the response i got was,

"Re controllers - we'll be using normal controllers as opposed to wheels."

it might be worth checking out.

I just missed top 20, I'm 4489 in the Netherlands, yes I suck...
btw, heared that the belgian finals are held in Spa, so it's still a possibility...

That's very strange. They will definitely be using wheels at all national finals, most likely DFGT's. There is no way in hell that they are going to have us all using controllers.

I guess if would be a little fairer for people who qualified using a wheel, but not for everyone.
