I went out and did some laps and got a 2:25.054 as my best and consistant low 25s :D.

Tonys is just crazy I pity all in GT500 Pal . (Go the banana!)

Heres BTCCs old banana from 2008

Somewhat off-topic, but if anyone can help me that'd be great.

I have realized I dislike my GTP handle, StellarParallax, and am intent on changing it. Will this present a problem to any of the organizers if I do so? If so, I'll wait until the end of the season, otherwise I'll do it tonight or tomorrow. Stupid question, and probably the wrong place for it...

Any feedback is appreciated...

If we don't create a window, and everyone has to use sport soft tyres and racing hards. Most people will either pit on the first or last laps. At least by making everyone do 3 laps before pitting, we get close racing, but still with enough of a window to bring strategy into it. Do you start with soft or hard tyres? Where do you find clean air. I just think it will create a better race.

I thought we where only going to use RH in the sprint race, just for the reasons above. If both everybody will just do the minimum amount of laps with the lesser tire any rule would stipulate, ie no possibility for any sort of strategy.
Like I said before, whether RH's through the sprint race, SS and RH's for the sprint race, either way the fastest way to go through the race (at least when starting towards the back) is to pit right away.
Monaco being 15 laps was the hardest to pull this off in, but even at a tire shredding track like Monaco, with a relatively high lap count for a sprint race, it still worked best. (GT500 car even)
That's why I suggested RM's, even for GT300 sprints, because making RM's last 14 laps at Monaco is easier said then done. RH or especially SS in a GT300, you'd have to be much closer to 20 laps to worry about your tires.(at Monaco)

I'm thinking we'll make a window, whether it's a predetermined "general" window, like "laps 3-7" for all sprints, or we make a specific window for each sprint race, depending on lap count (best idea imo), and this should cure the strategy dilemma for the most part.
Obviously, in some cases, we could choose any tires, and the strategy will remain unchanged, so I don't think it's something of incredible importance, tbph.

Pretty sure that's fine.👍
Just let us know what it is asap.

So, here I am, formerly StellarParallax, now FiatTony. No J-Lo jokes please:)
Since you made a new (second) account, I would recommend PM'ing a mod to remove the old one. Just some friendly advice. ;) 👍

You could've just PM'ed Jordan and had him change your name for you. I think a super mod can do the same thing, no need to have two accounts.

I would've told you before your new account was made but I assumed you were going to do this based on what I read.

Have to be premium. I'd change mine if I could ever think of something cool.

Ah right I forgot, I forget I'm premium sometimes :)
Yeah, and he's not really friendly at all about helping someone out who can't afford premium either; which is why I'll forever contain my old identity in my sig. He insisted I pay 12 dollars to change my name, rather than just do me a favor with the promise that once I got a job I would pay for lifetime, but at the time I was making the switch I just couldn't even spare 12 bucks for something so trivial due to being unemployed.

Just bringing this up again since it seems the series admins may have missed it... I wanted to make sure some of the admins get to see and take note of the issue with people switching divisions at the last minute and also please consider a Nordschleife enduro.

Well I had managed to write a nice long post after getting a good nights sleep following the Saturday night race, but then my browser crashed and I lost it all before I could post it. So I've finally managed to catch up with everything and here are some of my thoughts:

First off; I am a supporter of heavy damage, although I have no preference as I also see plenty of benefits to switching to light.

I'm also excited to see another pre-season race. I wasn't going to be able to make this weekends race anyway, as I will be attending the Rolex 24 at Daytona! Though I may try to squeeze into the PAL race on Friday.

I gotta say after reading the last 10 pages or so I am really glad I switched to GT300. Seems like there are too many hot-headed drivers in GT500 and I'm thrilled to not have to deal with that. But I do need to make some points about last weekends race...

1. If someone for some reason switches divisions due to not being able to make the race, they are supposed to bumped to the bottom of the grid. Before the race started Litchi ran down the order and I was supposed to start 4th, but someone from the PAL division decided to join this race and take my qualifying spot because he had a faster qual time than me. Even after Litchi had said that he was to start at the back he just arrogantly came up to 4th during the formation lap and wouldn't give it up. I decided that since it was pre-season I wasn't going to fuss too much. But perhaps this should be emphasized in the rules somewhere.

2. I had an idea for the sprint race. Since the grid is sorted reverse based on the main race is there really any reason for a formation lap (other than for the mentioned "drivetrain advantages")? I think since it's such a short race, and in the spirit of 'sprinting,' it would be fun to just run from a standing start. I'm sure you guys have done research and that it's probably best, but I just felt the overwhelming urge to gun it at the 3-2-1 for the second race (since I was already in the right starting position).

I've also noticed in the first post with all the flags for race locations that we are going to be racing at Spa twice. But then on the next post it say the 10th race is hoping for Motegi. I was wondering why is there no Nordschleife race this season? Maybe I'm alone in this, maybe I'm not, but I'd really love a Nurb enduro. :)
I thank Wardez for reading and replying in regards to the sprint race. Also; my vote on tires is to stay with RH only.

Hello. I am just wondering how the last round of the season is motegi ring. And seems like the nurburgring nordscleife would be a suitable replacement maybe...

That was sort of just a joke/hope/wish from Masi (says so right next to the track in the schedule card). Which I think should be removed since there's hardly a chance that it'll make it into the game in time.

But if it somehow is put into GT5 in time I'd happily suggest keeping it.

One last post about tire rules for the sprint race, and I'm using GT300 at Nurnburg (9 laps) as the example.

You set the pit strategy primarely based on two thing.
- Overall race pace
- Track position.

If requiring the use of two compounds.
- Best race pace will be to do 3+6 laps (3 on the SS)
- Best track position starting on SS (most likely) will be 3+6 laps
- I see no reason to do a 4th lap on SS regardless if you're at the front or back
- I see to reason to do a 4th lap on SS regardless of you start on SS or RH.

If using RH tires only.
- Best race pace will be to do 4+5 laps
- Best track postion will be 1+8, 2+7, or maybe 3+6. Depends on how the first laps develop.
- So if going for a 1+8, you might get a track postion advantage but you will pay the price of slower pace and worn tires in the end. The guys who did 4+5 and if they didn't get held up will now be faster. There is a strategic element.

So if we use the same compound there is a strategic element to the pit stops. Another problem with a 3-7 lap pit window is if you for example get damage on lap 1. Will you then have to drive another two laps with the damage before you are allowed to pit.

I see no benefit with using both compounds. Yes, not the most importan thing, but if one is better, why not go that route.

To answer you're first question, once the season starts there will be no switching conferences if you can't make you're race. Each conference will have separate points championships so you can't pick and choose (based on other commitments or anything else) which one you will race in from week to week. If you can't make you're race then you'll have to utilise one of your dropped rounds.

It has been 'open' during pre-season to allow everyone the best opportunity to take part in as many races as possible to learn regs and procedures etc.

I commend you for letting it go without making it difficult during your race the other night 👍

Totaly right John sounds much better than beng restricted to a pit window dictating your pit strategy.

I agree that using only one compound on the sprint race brings actually more of a strategic game than using SS. Everyone will just use it quickly and then switch to RHs, whereas with only RHs, you get to see different strategies.

I think PURE JGTS is a good example of this.

Ah ya definatly keep motegi in it until last minute but all I am sayin is that nordscleife might be used if motegi does not make it by the time it comes around..

Hey guys, just checking in while I wait for my plane. All this talk about two compounds of three is giving me a headache Lol. Hopefully it will be sorted when i return in 16 days times.

Anyway good luck all in the pre season race. I will check back when I'm chilling out in the hot south African weather hehe
